Good question and Yes it works you can apply for US.DOT/ MC number and receive your pin to log into your FMCSA portal then you can add any vehicle that you will use as a CMV commercial motor vehicle just make a magnetic stickers that have your US.DOT number MC number Slap that on the CMV and you are good to go.
Once more thing I need to add make sure the company you are going to be renting the CMV for has to be either added on your commercial insurance or the company offers commercial insurance they provide either or… my recommendation added on your own insurance much cheaper..
Hi, my husband and I live in one state but will be doing work in another state that is literally 5 mins across the bridge. Will that be considered doing business across state lines? We'll pickup and deliver within same state. Does the address used on the application determine
@@Dr.AudreyDSmith really depends on where your doing business. For example if I’m in Cali picking up a load going to Arizona then I’m crossing state lines. Then I’m interstate not intrastate even if it’s 5mins before the state border line. If your business address is in California and you’re doing business in Tennessee and your truck is registered as a commercial vehicle in Tennessee then that would be a good question for FMCSA customer service. My guess is it has to do with where your business address is. CMV register in different states only help with emissions laws and registration/ tax.

Very good questions I’m going to make videos of all of your questions but just for you I’m going to answer some of your questions and others I’m going to answer it in a video because there is good amount detail that you need to know Q1 CDL is your business license motor Carrier permit is a permit to operate in California. Q2. Yes you can when you apply for General freight i have that in U.S DOT/ MC video. Q3. Your insurance is going to be expensive and hard to get when it’s your first time commercial driving everything is based on experience but I didn’t have any experience when I started out and I got insurance..when you are starting out fresh it’s going to cost about roughly $5k down payment $1600 a month x’s that by 12 is annually in California rest I can explain in a video to much info. Q4 everything comes to you when you start doing loads you make connections with brokers and develop good relationships when you do good honest work but mostly I use central dispatch it’s $115 monthly fee and have to have good ratings for brokers to give you loads and it’s not hard to develop that just have to do crappy loads in the beginning then you will go forward the other I use is Metroloads and many more I can put in a video also. I’m trying hard to upload all the videos just be patient I’ll get them uploaded thanks.
That my friend depends on you how much are you willing to work....if you were doing 5 to 6 days a week you can grows 6-9K a week which comes out to be 288k Or 432k a year Gross income. Keep in mind not “NET INCOME”. Subtract your diesel maintenance cost for load boards etc. which will give you net income and that’s really hard to pinpoint. I honestly have no idea when it comes to being a broker. Best advice to call FMCSA customer service.
How does this work with a rental truck can I still apply for dot number and mc
Good question and Yes it works you can apply for US.DOT/ MC number and receive your pin to log into your FMCSA portal then you can add any vehicle that you will use as a CMV commercial motor vehicle just make a magnetic stickers that have your US.DOT number MC number
Slap that on the CMV and you are good to go.
So basically I have to pay for insurance then apply for my DOT/mc number and bo3
Once more thing I need to add make sure the company you are going to be renting the CMV for has to be either added on your commercial insurance or the company offers commercial insurance they provide either or… my recommendation added on your own insurance much cheaper..
@@brandonsimmons2031 yes also have to pay a great fee of $2 k a week depending on how many miles you drive the CMV give or take at least in Cali.
Hi, my husband and I live in one state but will be doing work in another state that is literally 5 mins across the bridge. Will that be considered doing business across state lines? We'll pickup and deliver within same state. Does the address used on the application determine
Unfortunately yes if you are crossing state line.
@@RATLLC ok. Would this be the case if our truck was purchased and housed in TN though and we’re doing work in TN?
@@Dr.AudreyDSmith really depends on where your doing business. For example if I’m in Cali picking up a load going to Arizona then I’m crossing state lines. Then I’m interstate not intrastate even if it’s 5mins before the state border line. If your business address is in California and you’re doing business in Tennessee and your truck is registered as a commercial vehicle in Tennessee then that would be a good question for FMCSA customer service. My guess is it has to do with where your business address is. CMV register in different states only help with emissions laws and registration/ tax.
@@RATLLC ok. Thank you
Hi there, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
I do have question:
1- Is this application for someone who wants to do like amazon relay or is it just for hotshot?
2- Do you have to be citizen of us?
3- My llc is from Virginia, can i operate in Washington State?
Please advise.
Thanks
Very good questions.
1. To be honest I don’t know what Amazon relay is but if you are doing any commercial driving with weight in Cali you need US.Dot #.
2.yes you have to be a citizen if you are us resident then please call FMCSA customer service number for more info.
3.I have no idea if you can operate in Washington state you probably have to get apportioned plates and register with IRP
Best bet would be to contact your state to ask them this question.
Thank for watching and hope this help!
Yes
Yes
Hi Ratt LLc! do we need IFTA in CA if we are doing hot shot?
Just California then no
If you are going out of state then yes. Only if you are over 26k lbs
@@RATLLC thank you, trying to start hot shot as well, in Sacramento. it is hard. but keeping motivated
@@cynthiaalvarez6403 nice 👍 well I’m here to help and good luck
Hey someone said leave DBA blank or insurance company will not be able to work with you if you have LLC. Is this true?
I have no idea.. but what dose DBA have to do with insurance? “doing business as” is just your business name that you use. My insurance has no issues with DBA.
@@RATLLC ok thank you for the fast response
Np
Can you do this for a Freight Broker?
I have no idea to be honest.
@@RATLLC ok thanks
@@Kshontelle no problem
Yes we can help with this if you like trucknoffice.com/ truck office@gmail.com
Great video so far I’m goin step by step with the video retracing my steps . One question tho do I need to add the other owner as a contact ? We went 50/50 on the LLC
If you have his name on the LLC as a member or manager or part owner then it would be wise to do that. Keep in mind I’m not a legal attorney so it would also be wise to advise one.Thank you for watching.
I kept him off as a contact , but added him as a driver. that video was clutch , I had the form filled out at 99 when I found it so it worked out great . Only a few more steps hopefully insurance isn’t . Thanks again be safe out there man keep up the 🔥 content 💪
I’m glad you found it helpful that’s my main goal to help you guys and make it easy. definitely working on a lot more content and no problem and thank for subscribing.
Does this apply for a box truck which u don’t need a cdl to drive. Thanks great video
Every commercial vehicle needs one
Thank you.
@@RATLLC some 24 ft box truck don't require a CDL
@@bcityknox2413 he is not talking about CDL
He is talking about US DOT number/MC
Another question sorry :( do i have to have insurance to apply for the MC and DOT #?
You can still apply it’s just that you US DOT # and MC # will not be active. Commercial insurance activates that.
Hi man, do I need insurance to get my DOT & MC #. Or I can get it after receiving them? Thanks
You can apply for it but it’s going to be (inactive) Us.Dot and MC # to save yourself a headache best to get your insurance.
Can I apply if I still don't have the insurance? Thank you
You can. And there will be a question that will ask you if you have insurance. Say yes and then when you are done with application make sure you get insurance because U.S Dot # /MC # will not be active until it is registered with FMCSA and your insurance provider will do that.... to save a headache down the road get insurance first then apply. Fast and easy. “Recommended”
Hello, do i need to apply for motor carrier from DMV?
Motor Carrier permit ?
I have applied for mu usdot already, and payed the $300 fee. Does that mean that I have my DoT and MC, aren’t they supposed to be to different numbees? Im in the state of California. Thank You
They are 2 different numbers but you can find out what is your MC number by searching your US DOT number or if you even have a MC number.
Non-CMV ?
I just filled out the whole application, and I was only filing for a dot. Dot is supposed to be free, but in the end, it is asking me to pay $300. Is it including a mc# as well based on the answers I provided? I assumed that they were 2 different applications. If not, that's great, and I'm set. Thanks in advance
Yes $300 is for MC # and you are good to good 👍
@RAT LLC Thanks for the speedy response. Great job on the video as well. I'll be checking out the others
I appreciate it and Thank you for watching… soon I’ll add some more videos.

This video help us so much! Question.. do you need both an MC and CA number?
Thank you for watching. MC # is required if you are doing interstate. CA # is required if you are doing commercial business in California.
@@RATLLC thank you for the prompt response! We are based in California. If we are doing both local and interstate (Nevada, Arizona) are we required to have both or is the MC # sufficient?
You are required to have both. And no problem
@@RATLLC got it! Thanks!!
How much will it cost if I’m doing US DOT and MC with the options you’ve selected? Your quick response is much appreciated.
US DOT is for Free but MC # you have to pay $300 hope that helps.
@@RATLLC it does, thanks. What will be the additional cost if I add things like Hazmat etc?

Great video!! But when you registered how can I getting the user I’d number, please?
Thanks. Ok so 2 ways to get it 1st you can call FMCSA customer service request it online by email 2nd they can either send it by mail to your business address. I would request it by email. Much faster.
It’s at the beginning of your application jus write it down or take a picture of it and do the same with your password
I follow your information step by step, but in one moment I saw you hit “straight truck”. You have tractor with 53’ o you have 26’ 😬
I don’t have a 53’ or a 26’ I thought you follow my information if you did you would know what I have friend. never been in accident. My dash cam would prove that we archive all our video with GPS locations.

You want to search around for the best quote that fits your company
Do you have to put 1 for driver even you apply for a business company?
I’m sorry I don’t understand your question
You put 1 driver if you you have 1 driver
Well ok I mean can you go back update it if you have more drivers in the future
Yes definitely if you have more drivers and more trucks with trailers that you are operating then you can go back in to your FMCSA account and update your information.
Thanks man 💯
No worries thanks for subscribing 👍
Do you really need mc number? Or just the llc?
You don’t need MC # if you are just doing local in your state and you don’t need a LLC
Do we pick our own MC AND DOT numbers?
No you don’t pick your number the government dose that for you..
@@RATLLC okay thanks! just got done with my LLC AND EIN# next is DOT AND MC right bro?

Como se llena la applicacion para los que no son ciudadanos de estados unidos ??
I’m sorry can you translate that in English thanks
@@RATLLC how do you fill out application for those who are not us citizens but have us residency card?
@@RATLLC appreciate your help
liizy-munoz-27 honestly I’m not sure but if you do have a green card or residency card then I believe you can fill this out the same way as citizen just have to answer with “not a citizen” and have to say a green card holder or residency card holder or you can apply as Canadian citizen or Mexican citizen entering you United States. I hope that answers your question. Thanks
Hola. Lograste saber cómo llenarla si eres residente? Gracias.
Good videos. Keep it up. Thank you.
Do you have to have a business licence before this?
Also can you haul other stuff besides just autos?
How much is your insurance annually and monthly, what coverage dis you have to get?
How do you get your auto loads?
Thank you
Very good questions I’m going to make videos of all of your questions but just for you I’m going to answer some of your questions and others I’m going to answer it in a video because there is good amount detail that you need to know Q1 CDL is your business license motor Carrier permit is a permit to operate in California.
Yes and yes
how much money do you need to start off?
$50k used truck
$10k 3 car wedge trailer
$20k annual for insurance
$5-10k startup cost
85k -95k
@@RATLLC and what’s the most you can make in a year)
That my friend depends on you how much are you willing to work....if you were doing 5 to 6 days a week you can grows 6-9K a week which comes out to be 288k Or 432k a year Gross income. Keep in mind not “NET INCOME”. Subtract your diesel maintenance cost for load boards etc. which will give you net income and that’s really hard to pinpoint. Only way to find out is for you to get out and see how much you made after a year.
Hey thanks for this vid!! How to file for BOC-3

Can I get my mc number later?

Good afternoon sir after I did all this got dot and mc when I log in fmcsa portal it says to fix dba to match but I can't find a way to fix this problem
Good afternoon yes so you’re doing business as has to match the same name that you put in the application also you have to request a pin number from FMC essay in order for you to log into the account
I tried on phone and IPad
So is this application for both DOT and MC?
Yes U.S DOT and MC is not in the video you have to do that own your own after filling out the U.S DOT application.
@@RATLLC Ok! Where should I complete the app to obtain the MC? When i attempt to do so online it takes me to the DOT app process again which i’ve already completed.

Did you apply for anything other then MC # ? for example hazmat the more you add the more money they ask.
300 per authority
