anyone else started being bombed with spam calls about not being compliant and needing to pay hundreds of dollars as soon as you finished your registration?
This is what I was not really understanding when I spoke to my brother about a business, hauling wooden pallets from one place to another within my state not crossing state lines. If I needed at least DoT numbers I saw that on FMCSA website the I will need DOT numbers if any combination of truck and or truck and trailer equals 10,001 lbs or more and I can still be over weight even if I am still under 26,000 lbs , because the vehicle combination is 10,001 or more. I looked on my class c license and I have 26000 GVWR or less, I was going in that weight range, but my brother said since I'm trying to operate as a business, I will still need the DOT numbers?
Hi Daniel thanks for the awesome video, I'm a new subscriber and future customer! I wanted to know what are the exact problems using a digital business address would cause if used during FMCSA and Insurance. Could I just opt to have my plates sent to my home or forwarded from my digital address? Reason I'm concerned is because I know inconsistent/home addresses coming up during lender funding searches can cause denials. Thanks again brother, you are a blessing! 💯
Hi Daniel thank you for the video it was a great help. I got the DOT# after completing the application but did not received the MC# and it's been a day already. Do you know if it takes longer ? I apply yesterday Thursday night.
Hello thanks for your time to go over the app with us. Quick question 🙋♂️ under “vehicle Type” you selected 1 own straight truck and 1 own trailer, do I have to select trailer as well even if I’ll be operating a 26 foot box truck? And I’ll be renting to start and own afterwards so can I do both own and term leased? Thanks Charles
This is what I needed, any tips on getting a lower rate for my insurance for my hotshot company, I'm already a full time w2 truck driver & I've had 1 accident in the last 5 years in my personal vehicle never in the work truck & I'm concerned the cost will be so expensive I may not be able to start.
Normally, the longer its been since the accident, the less it hurts your rate. If you'd like a quote or want to talk about getting started, just schedule a call with me: forhire.pro/call or fill out my quote form: forhire.pro/TruckQuote
Hey brother what were your specific experiences or other's stories when using digital business addresses for FMCSA and Insurance. I think some valuable lessons could be gathered from those occurrences
Oh man i could do a whole series about virtual addresses... The biggest problem with those is when underwriters use some of these new programs that show all registered vehicles to a particular address. if multiple companies are using the same virtual address, then a bunch of vehicles will come back on these reports and its a huge red flag for underwriters. The only reason I would use a virtual address is if a lender told me I need a commercial address to get better financing on equipment. In that scenario, you could use the virtual address for mailing on FMCSA, but I wouldnt use it as my physical location and definitely never use it as a garaging address for insurance, thats a horrible idea. Otherwise, I would just stay away from virtual addresses. Insurance underwriting is far from perfect and a lot of stuff falls through the cracks, which is why some truckers have zero issues with a virtual address "in the past and right now"....but later on down the road, that might be a pretty serious issue. Business ownership is like chess, you need to always be self educating on strategy and constantly be 10 moves ahead!
I started small and am currently a 1099/W9 driver using my personal vehicle and rent cargo and sprinter vans from time to time. I now have my llc and now wanting to do otr with renting/leasing cargo/sprinter vans under 10,000 lbs gvwr with interstate deliveries. The question is: 1. Since this would make this a non-cdl, can I just obtain a USDOT only? 2. If so, Is the application process the same with just adjusting the values when registering on the same form? 3. Will I still need or have to have my own authority? as I am not interested in dealing with box trucks or anything over 10,000 lbs gvwr. Thank you! Love the vids, very informative! 😊
The Vehicle type part you went pretty quick over it. I own an F250 and a Big Tex 14GN, do I put "Straight Truck" and "Trailer", or just trailer? I'm confused on it. Thanks, and GREAT vid man. Very much appreciated! This helped out a TON!

Hello Charles, you have been a great help in my research in getting started. The question I have is what is the process of is setting up an authority to run car haulers and box trucks? Is selecting both the general freight and auto selections the only thing I have to do and just get my insurance based on the auto hauler requirements?
You said to just click general freight i did all that and just got my insurance today how do i go back and click the building materials and log poles beams lumber boxes???
Thanks for the great information, I have a truck and trailer. On the application I put one for Straight Truck how do I correct this error? Also I already have a Dot Number when I filled out the application for the MC number I was giving another. How to I correct theses errors. Thanking you in advance
If I plan to haul regular loads into my flatbed but occasionally maybe if I do find good car loads and haul cars in the space available in my trailer, will I need to click on the general freight and the motor vehicles too?
Hello! So is this everything I need to operate with my new set up legally? Your video went over hot to get my DOT and Authority, however I thought there was a 21 day waiting period??
Yes there is a 21 day waiting period to go active but you can get the DOT right away and your MC is available same day/next day. I've got another video on getting setup you can check out here: th-cam.com/video/wYLhNaLjTrk/w-d-xo.html
I’m running just a single trailer and have my LLC and DOT Number and hauling in state not doing out of state, do I still need to get my Medical card And motor carrier permit?
Is there any info you can give me on how to fill mine out since it is a little different. I am wanting to do hot shot but transport cars and would be cdl since I have my cdl. I have a 3500 ram and 3 car wedge trailer so would be over the 26k. And around 34k crossing state lines.
No you don't have to get insurance first but you do have to get insurance before the MC will go active. It will be in pending status until you wait the 21 day waiting period, get insurance and do your BOC-3 filing. I always tell people to do the BOC-3 filing as soon as you apply for the MC and then get insurance close to the 21 day mark during that waiting period so you aren't paying for insurance too early. You want to get started working for a few weeks before that first monthly insurance payment comes due.

You can update via your MCS-150. You can also call the FMCSA to have them update it.
If I plan to haul regular loads into my flatbed but occasionally maybe if I do find good car loads and haul cars in the space available in my trailer, will I need to click on the general freight and the motor vehicles too?
Yes.
If I’m only transporting vehicles should I select drive away and motor vehicles ONLY?
If you are only transporting vehicles, just select motor vehicles only.
How do you add a vehicle and remove the previous one do you have to start a new application?
GOOD MORNING WHY DON ALOW ME CONTINUE AFTER VEHICLE TYPE I PUT 1 TRUCK AND 1 TRAILER BUT IS NO YELLOW FOR HIT NEXT
put 0 on everything else
put 0 in each space you aren’t using.
Okay, so I am stuck on the Oath applicants part? I don't understand what I need to upload if I am the owner of the company?
Is the same process for Reefer Box truck?
It is a similar process. You can take a look at our box truck how-to video.
Is there any update on how a DACA recipient would fill this out?
Not as of yet
Hello, I think I screwed up on my application. I pick straight truck instead of trailer and they already issued me DOT number, how do I correct it?
can I set up my own Llc , then hire my son and hire him as a driver on the insurance and have the MC and DOT in my business name?
Yes you can. i would recommend hiring him as a 1099 contracted employee instead of W-2 for coverage purposes
Do you have any info on resident alien ? (Green card holder)
You would need to have someone with citizenship as a business owner with you.
Thanks for the info. I do have a question. If my wife and I are on the LLC as owners, does she have to be added in the contacts section of the app?
No she does not.
Hello. I'm register with the fmcsa already. How do i add my hotshot set up to it?
You would go into your MCS-150 and update it to add the hotshot.
Its asking me for a power of attorney form do we have to do this
11:50 if your vehicle is a Sprinter Van with less than 10,000 lbs gvwr should you put it as Non-CMV?
Yes.
hi daniel i have my DOT and MC numbers but can i go back and change something’s?
Yes you can via your MCS-150.
Hi daniel what if i only want to do intrastate? Should i do interstate anyways so i can do both?
also another question if someone would cancel they’re dot and mc number and tried to apply again with the same ein number would they be able to?
Yes they would, you can't "cancel" a DOT #. You would just deactivate it.

since it is hot shot, would a dually be a non-CMV?
It can be either a CMV or a non-CMV.
What if you start the llc with a partner ?
I’m running just a single trailer and have my LLC and DOT Number and hauling in state not doing out of state, do I still need to get my Medical card And motor carrier permit?
You will need a medical card but if you arent crossing state lines, you only need a DOT #, not MC.
Question. If I’m renting a box truck for Amazon relay, will I list under term lease
Yep that works!
What if you get a cdl do you have to apply all over again, or do I add cdl vehicle to the non cdl authority?
