Thank you for watching my video. I do hope you found it helpful. PLEASE NOTE: There is a typo at 9:14 - COMMUTED should be COMMITTED (which is what you hear me say). There was also an error with question number two which I removed so you will notice that number 2 is missing from the questions at the end.
You guys are helping us a lot to learn English. That is why English has become all the rage language... kudos to you anna. Wish you a safe delivery and a baby with good health conditions.
This is a super lesson here! In speech, that is how we would normally say these things. However, It is more common to write them like this:: I couldn't have done that, We shouldn't have moved there, She wouldn't have said that, It mustn't have been there. The modal verbs: will....The past tense is 'would' can....The past tense is 'could.' could might must should would may...The past tense is 'might.' shall...The past tense is 'should' ' Must' is used in present and past tenses. 'Will' is used in future tenses and can be replaced with a form of 'be' + 'going to' I will go to town.. I will have finished by noon. I am going to town. I am going to have finished by noon. We are going to town. She is going to town. 'May' can not be contacted; May have, May not have 'Will' becomes 'won't' when negated in contracted form (won't = will not) 'Shall' becomes 'shan't; when it negates in contracted form (shall not = shan't)
Fun fact: to advanced students this is actually a great video for training pronunciation. It did wonders for me. I have just repeated "you'd've regretted it" 10 times and feel like 5 muscles in my tongue are much better trained haha even when you're used to speaking the language all the time, these sounds can sometimes make you stumble :(
That's great! I am so pleased that you find these lessons useful. And please don't be sad about stumbling. We are all constantly learning. English is my native language and I am still learning about it. :)
1) Nowadays, In the general sense, It means to do or be done; Then the present indefinite tense is used. 2) Present continuous tense is commonly used to indicate that something is happening or going on at the present time. 3) Present perfect- The present perfect is a grammatical combination of the present tense and perfect aspect that is used to express a past event that has present consequences. The term is used particularly in the context of English grammar to refer to forms like 'I have left'. 4) Any work started in the past and is still going on, May continue in the future. Then the present perfect continuous tense is used. Madam, I have written all of those, Are these correct?
I loved the video as I had been hesitating to pronounce these contractions. On the other hand , your video drew me to a new enquiry: When should I use cannot and when can not? I am still learning English as most of my colleagues here are, and I was taught that there were only two possible forms for the auxiliary can, which are can in positive sentences, and cannot or can't in negative sentences. I would appreciate you explain it to me. Thank you so much. Your drive and passion encourages me every day to become an English teacher. God Bless you!
In British English 'Cannot' is the normal version. 'Can not' would only be used when 'not' forms part of another construction like 'not only'. For example: She can not only dance but sing too, although she cannot act.
@@EnglishLikeANative You're awesome! I'm so gland you had the chance to reply to my question. although it may sound cheesy, I'd like to say that It did mean a lot. Thank you sooo much!!!
Hi! Anna.Because,it's always been your trait to cover many aspects of the topic to share knowledge as much as you can with your students,I appreciate your innovative ways to deliver them. Thanks & regards Prashant Mishra or Lester Miles...
Interesting video Anna. 'There's a LOT of would have, should have...personally I say try to find what can be don now to prevail the solution, or move on and learn from the mistake of the past.' I find this quote rather relevant for life in my opinion...i mean I do it for mine. I liked this video yes!!!!👍😅
Thanks Anna! Excellent your explanation and I understand when you teach it. But it is not easy to use al the contractions to me....specially to understand in a conversation!! My regards from Argentina..
I got'em All! If our teachers would've taught Us this before, this would've been a Piece Of cake for Us🙄 But English is gettin hard more than Never 😅😅😅
Nice video on pronunciation. Learners of English should be aware that these double contractions are correct when speaking. However, it is not correct to write sentences this way. Cambridge English (IELTS) will mark this as an error if you write something like mustn't've. It should be written as mustn't have.
🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I missed that typo how annoying. Yes you are absolutely right. It should be ‘committed’ as is written in my script but my editor has made a typo when writing it on the screen. I apologise. :(

Some folk in Yorkshire sometimes pronounce "Couldn't" and it sounds like the swear word. Haha

helo !an excellent teacher. How are you ?
I didn’t know about most of these contractions and I’m a native English speaker
That's because we only ever hear them spoken, they are never written. To us it is a natural shortening, so not something we think about really.
hello dear please can you explain us bare and zero infinitive
