    That video gives so much insight… I love the effort of following them on their round. Also, I’m glad you didn’t annoy them too much.

    I love the gate and the keys. It's times like that that reminds you these guys are just humans, not robots. He's just a guy struggling with his keys, the other guy waiting around unceremoniously for him to figure it out.

    quite eerie seeing windsor castle tourist-free. But I guess this is the best opportunity to get some good shots of the men!

      Indeed it is! Much better than having 1,000 tourists barging their way to take a picture with the guards.

    Regardless of nation or epoch the performance of this duty by the officer of the guard will never change.

    This reminds me of the Kipling poem, The Shut-Eye Sentry. It was about a drunken Orderly Officer making his rounds at a British Army Post in India.

      The rounds, where the platoon commander, and platoon sergeant or in this case, pay sergeant (i think its a pay sergeant) will march out 1-2 times a day to get a report from the guards and inspect the guards. Hope this helped!

      @riflemusket 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheChineseGovernment. Ah, I believe that the Warrant Officer Class One sword scabbard is a different design than the scabbard for commissioned officers. Akin to the NCO sword of the US Marines compared to the commissioned officer sword.

      @@TheChineseGovernment. WO2’s have swords, not CSM’s, but drill SGT have swords, and RQMS have swords, both WO2 ranks.

    • @militaryevents107
      @militaryevents107  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A warrant officer sword has a scabbard so it is pretty much fixed there, officer swords have a scabbard, but are on a sling, which swings.

      Pardon? All these guards you see are front line infantry and fight for our country. This part is the ceremonial side, for tradition, guarding, especially as the queen is in residence, and culture. You can also tell by the medals, and decorations, like one of the medals the officer has, operational service for Iraq and Syria. And coming from someone who wants to do this when I am old enough, this fills you with a pride like no other.
