Actually the train station really near from kota tua cafe Batavia, so it's shock when you drive just around there for two hours, when you can just walk from train station around 10-15 minutes to cafe Batavia.

Yeah Indonesia n the Netherlands have a very very long history together. I would say it's like "love hate relationship" ;)
My great grandmother n my grandparents from my mom's side were speaking Dutch although they were Javanese.
Oh so you are from Maastricht.. one of the oldest city in Netherlands. I know Maastricht. :)
and about the traffic in Jakarta.. the people of Jakarta often said we grow old on the street. Lol 😁
    Stay happy, Susanne! 🍻

I reallly excited to Kota Lama Semarang.

You must go to Semarang, the capital city of central Java. There are many dutch building such as in kota lama Semarang, lawang sewu and Tawang train station. You can try to to go to Semarang by train or plane from Jakarta or by plane from Bali. There are 3 types of train from Jakarta you can choose; luxury, executive and economic train.

This is the first vlog I’ve seen in a long time about going to Kota Tua featuring insane traffic and parking problem :) Whoever drove you there must have missed the memo from 20 years ago that the first Transjakarta’s buses were to Kota Tua for exactly this reason :) I can’t imagine these days a sane Jakartan will happily drive you there. Unlike other Indonesian cities, we do have the choice of using public transport if it takes much longer to drive.

Hopefully you can also come to Surabaya the second big city after Jakarta. Surabaya city is more greener, and more shady, cause there are so many trees around the city. You can get here so many delicious food/culiners at the heroic city of course. We have also many Dutch colonial buildings at Surabaya. Jakarta is twice bigger than Surabaya, you know. If you want to go inside the big malls at Surabaya, you can go to Tunjungan Plaza 1,2,3,4,5,6 or Galaxy Mall 1,2,3 or Ciputra World Mall 1,2 or to the Pakuwon Mall and Trade center, which is the biggest mall at Indonesia which lies at the west part of Surabaya. All the malls at Surabaya are opened from 10:00 am until 22:00 pm.

Actually, if you would like to see some "beautiful" train stations, you can go to Stasiun Tawang in Semarang, which I think looks alike with the train station in Deventer or Groningen. That is the Dutch megaproject rather than Stasiun Jakarta Kota/Batavia Zuid. That could go into your list, Susan. Nevertheless, I really enjoy your vlogs, Susan

Traffic in Jakarta will get worse when it rains. a distance of 5 km can be reached in 1 hour (motorcycle). the worst points of congestion: Gatot Subroto, Casablanca, Tanah Abang, Daan Mogot, Pancoran, Mampang, Slipi. many foreigners who already understand Jakarta prefer to use online transportation services (motorcycles) because they are more efficient

I love watching the trips that you take. I've been to Bali every year since 2012 except in 2021 and 2022 during the pandemic. I've never been to Jakarta. I'm excited about the prospects of becoming a TH-camr. I currently work for the government so I cannot make videos about my job as a wildland firefighter (bush firefighter) because they could be used against us in court if homes burn down. Plus they regulate what we post on multi-media. Anyway, I can't wait to be able to travel and do fun things and document my travels. I have been traveling in SE Asia since 2012 and love all the places that I've been to. I only wish that I had been vlogging all those years, instead of putting pics and videos on FB only. I didn't know about YouTubing back then, but now I do and I really want to make a go at it. You and Lost Lablonc has really inspired me to become a TH-camr.

The building which you are pointing it is a the Dutch governor general office in the Dutch era. The area which you visit is a the center of Batavia in the past when the Dutch era. In that office you can see the underground jail and picture of governor general. Van den Bosch, Jan Pieterszoon Coen.

That's why many locals used Gojek or Grab as transportation. They're much simpler, and energy and time-saving. The rest of Jakartans would use train, small shuttle, MRT and Transjakarta bus, while the other bring their own motorcycle to work. I guess less locals drive on their own car to work nowadays🛵🚲
