It’s so easy to forget Jesus got tired, he got hungry, he probably had a headache once or twice, He was either left, or right handed, all that makes us human, He limited Himself too and was. John says something incredibly profound and meaningful, then says something seemingly far less profound, and doesn't even care if it's the last thing he's recorded as saying on this earth - because he knows he's got an eternal life still to go.

I'm not religious but if you are then this whole thing is no big deal as John is going to be spending "eternity" in heaven so it's not even sad. If you are a real christian I don't know why you wouldn't want to speedrun your own martyrdom so you can go to heaven forever.
