Amen. Anyone who is put off by the graphic nature of our Lord’s unfathomable suffering should rethink their spiritual life, especially if they are Christian. The Flogging was very real and the Roman’s were experts at it. The Scourging at the Pillar was violent and dark, just like our sin. And when you don't include the 'S' at the second to each of those words, it means singular (one), instead of plural (many), saying that he's just above one, when he's above ALL. Not to mention the fact that that other king or lord is unspecified, but the phrase says Jesus is top dog to all the kings and lords of this world, and thus it is defined, while yours is not. The reason this film was banned in several countries was not because of being too disturbing....it was because it would have led to mass conversions. The risk to the dominant religions in those countries was too great to ignore. If the film was shown, many would have converted, and that risk was too great to ignore

This film shocked me to my core! I was dumbfounded at how “washed and cleaned” Jesus’s crucifixion had become. To see the actual practices and realizations expertly reflected in this film was definitely an awakening for me! I’m so very Thankful to Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel for making this film even when confronted with serious warnings about how the film would damage their careers. I so agree! I went home with a migraine after crying so hard and feeling so helpless and thankful. It was a very real portrayal…didn’t feel like acting at all.

My wife and I saw this in the theater when it first came out. There was not a dry eye after the film was over! We have it on dvd, but the best experience is watching it in the theater. Love the fact that Mel used his own money to make this and STILL got criticized for it. Just not enough Christians to back him up.

Watching this movie made me live Jesus experience in what he did for us. He took the whole world upon his shoulders to save us, what a Saviour to died for all our sins so we can all be saved. I have never been able to bring myself to watch this movie, as deeply as I respect it. I know in my heart the immense suffering Our Lord endured out of love for us. I also know that watching it would be very painful but I one day I will.
I concur! I watched Jesus of Nazareth when I was still a child and never forgot it! I have it on CD now and have bought numerous ones for family! The Passion of The Christ was in a whole other realm! It starts at the most crucial aspects of Christ's existence, so you are instantly crying for him, knowing he is going through this for my sins that I had not yet committed! And now know just how sorry I am and ashamed, that I put him through that! Both movies are excellent in their own right!

This film will live in the hearts and minds of believers for generations to come for the Glory of God. What an amazing testimony of the power of Christ when Mel Gibson spent 30 million Dollars of his own money trusting in God to help achieve his dream that God rewarded him and he in turn helped to give the funds to charity to build hospitals in poor nations again glorifying God for his amazing power in making the film a success amidst controversey. Me and my family went to see the Passion of The Christ. I cried all the way through the crusifiction and until this day I can’t bring myself to watch it again. I had read in the Bible about the killing of Jesus but it had never hit home like it did. Everyone needs to see this film. It will change your life!
I watch it every Good Friday since it was made, but one or two years. I figure if Jesus suffered all of that for me, why should I not watch it for Him.
In reality , what they did to Jesus was far worse than what was depicted in the movie.. He knew, that is why the scene in the garden was so significant. I will be watching the Resurrection when it comes out. ✝️🙏

I have watched this movie a few times now. The horror, the actual pain, the emotional strain. Much more than a movie. The languages used was a great choice. The violence so real and painful. Because of the horror and violence, it was the most realistic and effective film ever made, especially for the 'Jesus' movies.
Jesus is my friend, I miss him when I do not feel him beside me. Smiling, sometimes laughing, when I pray and rest in meditation. I'm motivated to introduce him to those who know him not. There is nothing that I experience that is more fulfilling. I get up excited about my time in prayer and meditation because Jesus is what I experience. Just ask him to show up, to be real to you, and then be still and quiet the egoic arguments. And he will come to you with a gentle presence.
I recall a great desire for people to understand the passion in detail. I asked God for help for people to experience the passion for I could not convey it. God gave me this desire 3 years later this movie can out.
Jesus willingly died, he willingly and freely sacrificed his life for everyone who would ever believe in him, he chose to pay the price for all sinners, so that we sinners could have eternal life with him if we accept his free gift of Grace! Salvation is by grace ( a free gift from God) through faith which God gives. What is Salvation? Salvation is been 'born again' cast of the 'old' you, and become a 'new you' in Christ. You need to repent of your sins , be truly sorry from the heart. Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead, Call on the name of Jesus ask him into your life, to be your Lord and Saviour. Romans 10:13 for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL BE SAVED. Romans3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:10 as it is written "None is righteous, no not one." Romans6:23 for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus our Lord. Romans 9:10 Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 2Corinthians 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 'The Gospel' means 'Good News'. The good news is that God gave man a way to be reconciled to him, that way is through the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. He sent his son, Jesus Christ, to take the sins of mankind on himself. Through Jesu's death on the cross, God placed all our sins on Jesus, God treated Jesus as a sinner ( Jesus was perfectly sinless) he poured out his wrath on Jesus on the cross, Jesus takes the wrath of God on himself so that we don't have to suffer God's wrath against our sinfulness, a wrath that we deserve. Jesus died for each and everyone of us, Jesus took upon himself the penalty of sin, a penalty that WE should pay. Jesus paid the price for our sin, so that we may have eternal life with Him. Your Salvation is as easy as A B C, A...ACKNOWLEDGE YOU'RE A SINNER AND IN NEED OF A SAVIOUR. B... BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS IS LORD AND THAT HE DIED ON A CROSS FOR YOUR SINS AND THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD. C....CALL UPON HIS NAME. ASK HIM TO COME INTO YOUR LIVE TO RECIEVE HIS MERCY AND GRACE.
He was also having the cross sway while he was on it due to a storm, and had to reshoot the scene, as well as being up there with a dislocated shoulder! Not to mention pneumonia!
I have seen that film...I cried, pitied Jesus when He was struck by that kind of whipped and blood dropping from his head with that crown...maybe made of sharp pointed vine that pierce his forehead....and an eyes accepting all the pain he felt....oh! ...I cried...He was so exhausted...with that heavy cross and stumbled down...slowly bend his knees and stand all his might carrying the heavy cross on his shoulder....oh!....
I watch this historical movie in Mumbai andheri, the thiater was full of hindu, Muslim and few Christian audience, And the same year good Friday and Easter mass celebrations with non catholic crwed entire churches in India, and many non categories received baptism that year,

After 12 years of Catholic schooling and hearing, reading, and even seeing plays depicting the Passion of the Chist, I went to the theater to see this movie. I did not expect it to impact me the way it did. I cried through the entire movie and for 4 hours after I returned home. The horrific treatment of Jesus, His love for mankind and my unworthiness is still apparent to me after seeing this movie. Thank you Mel, Jim, all those who participated but mostly, thank You my dear lord and Savior for sacrificing yourself for wretched man. I remember the night I watched it at its release , I had tears in my eyes. Made me think afterwards about my near death experience which was a story in itself, I saw him the gold glow at his feet the white garment then his hands and head all in aura of gold, I wish I had stopped to ask questions but wished to return.

Via a quintuple bypass I had just survived 1:20 odds of having a Widowmaker ❤ attack in 2001 at age 56! My wife and I went through RCIA and became Catholics at Easter 2002! I couldn’t resist the option of seeing this film despite the revelations of “painful authenticity!” (My wife didn’t think she could withstand it!) Despite the descriptions of the reality of His Suffering I could not miss it! The power of the presentation exceeded my imagination and I found it difficult to believe it was just “acting!” It was obvious “Passion” had to be the root cause of virtually everyone associated with its production!

You're butchering the phrase by not saying it correctly. It's "Lord of lords, and King of kings." And when you don't include the 'S' at the second to each of those words, it means singular (one), instead of plural (many), saying that he's just above one, when he's above ALL. Not to mention the fact that that other king or lord is unspecified, but the phrase says Jesus is top dog to all the kings and lords of this world, and thus it is defined, while yours is not. Hope that helps.
The reason this film was banned in several countries was not because of being too disturbing....it was because it would have led to mass conversions. The risk to the dominant religions in those countries was too great to ignore. If the film was shown, many would have converted, and that risk was too great to ignore

My wife and I saw this in the theater when it first came out. There was not a dry eye after the film was over! We have it on dvd, but the best experience is watching it in the theater. Love the fact that Mel used his own money to make this and STILL got criticized for it. Just not enough Christians to back him up.
I've heard when The Passion was in the movie theaters, veterans of wars were so shaken they even cried. This movie was meant to be made.

Each one makes me cry but this one really gets me y tbd time it’s over I cried so much I’m sick and I just pray, literally, that God forgives ad many as will ask Him. I concur! I watched Jesus of Nazareth when I was still a child and never forgot it! I have it on CD now and have bought numerous ones for family! The Passion of The Christ was in a whole other realm! Me and my family went to see the Passion of The Christ. I cried all the way through the crusifiction and until this day I can’t bring myself to watch it again. I had read in the Bible about the killing of Jesus but it had never hit home like it did. Everyone needs to see this film. It will change your life!
I watch it every Good Friday since it was made, but one or two years. I figure if Jesus suffered all of that for me, why should I not watch it for Him.
In reality , what they did to Jesus was far worse than what was depicted in the movie.. He knew, that is why the scene in the garden was so significant. I will be watching the Resurrection when it comes out. ✝️🙏

I have watched this movie a few times now. The horror, the actual pain, the emotional strain. Much more than a movie. The languages used was a great choice. The violence so real and painful.

Jesus is my friend, I miss him when I do not feel him beside me. Smiling, sometimes laughing, when I pray and rest in meditation. I'm motivated to introduce him to those who know him not. There is nothing that I experience that is more fulfilling. I get up excited about my time in prayer and meditation because Jesus is what I experience. Just ask him to show up, to be real to you, and then be still and quiet the egoic arguments. And he will come to you with a gentle presence.
I recall a great desire for people to understand the passion in detail. I asked God for help for people to experience the passion for I could not convey it. God gave me this desire 3 years later this movie can out.
Jesus willingly died, he willingly and freely sacrificed his life for everyone who would ever believe in him, he chose to pay the price for all sinners, so that we sinners could have eternal life with him if we accept his free gift of Grace! Salvation is a free gift from God, Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - not the results of works, so that no one may boast". Salvation is by grace ( a free gift from God) through faith which God gives. What is Salvation? Salvation is been 'born again' cast of the 'old' you, and become a 'new you' in Christ. You need to repent of your sins , be truly sorry from the heart. Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead, Call on the name of Jesus ask him into your life, to be your Lord and Saviour. Romans 10:13 for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL BE SAVED. Romans3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:10 as it is written "None is righteous, no not one." Romans6:23 for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus our Lord. Jesus died for each and everyone of us, Jesus took upon himself the penalty of sin, a penalty that WE should pay. Jesus paid the price for our sin, so that we may have eternal life with Him. Your Salvation is as easy as A B C, A...ACKNOWLEDGE YOU'RE A SINNER AND IN NEED OF A SAVIOUR. B... BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS IS LORD AND THAT HE DIED ON A CROSS FOR YOUR SINS AND THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD. C....CALL UPON HIS NAME. ASK HIM TO COME INTO YOUR LIVE TO RECIEVE HIS MERCY AND GRACE.

I have seen that film...I cried, pitied Jesus when He was struck by that kind of whipped and blood dropping from his head with that crown...maybe made of sharp pointed vine that pierce his forehead....and an eyes accepting all the pain he felt....oh! ...I cried...He was so exhausted...with that heavy cross and stumbled down...slowly bend his knees and stand all his might carrying the heavy cross on his shoulder....oh!....

After 12 years of Catholic schooling and hearing, reading, and even seeing plays depicting the Passion of the Chist, I went to the theater to see this movie. I did not expect it to impact me the way it did. I cried through the entire movie and for 4 hours after I returned home. The horrific treatment of Jesus, His love for mankind and my unworthiness is still apparent to me after seeing this movie. Thank you Mel, Jim, all those who participated but mostly, thank You my dear lord and Savior for sacrificing yourself for wretched man. Help me to please You and to always remember what You endured for everyone of us. I love you. Please remember me..
I remember the night I watched it at its release , I had tears in my eyes. Made me think afterwards about my near death experience which was a story in itself, I saw him the gold glow at his feet the white garment then his hands and head all in aura of gold, I wish I had stopped to ask questions but wished to return.

My wife and I went through RCIA and became Catholics at Easter 2002!
I couldn’t resist the option of seeing this film despite the revelations of “painful authenticity!” (My wife didn’t think she could withstand it!)
Despite the descriptions of the reality of His Suffering I could not miss it! The power of the presentation exceeded my imagination and I found it difficult to believe it was just “acting!”
It was obvious “Passion” had to be the root cause of virtually everyone associated with its production!
When I went on Pilgrimage in Jerusalem, We were in Mount Tabor, the place of the transfiguration. There was a loud thunder and lightning. They say, that it was a sign that God was there or He was angry.
Mount Hermon is the mount of transfiguration
