people who swap new engines in old bodies are really saying that old style is way sexier than the new.
new rides look like they were designed by bureaucrats thinking about mileage safety and mass appeal. old vehicles look like they were designed by an artists who love wheels.

I bring it up all the time. These car companies would make so much money by making a few tribute vehicles a year. Old school bodies with the comforts/engines from the new ones. I know I’d Buy one. Or by just remaking some of the old stuff in general. Not saying roll out tons of them, but a few tribute vehicles a year.... heck I think they would sell themselves.

F100 are pretty cool, as are most of the trucks bodys before they got too big and blocky. Thinking mostly mid 50's to late 60's depending on the maker.

RATFINKrod87 its not hard if u have somebody to guid u in the right direction. Unless u are mechanically gifted. I cud do a few things on my own. But I have a good friend with a shop that I cud do the work at. I didn’t/don’t know everything. For the most part I did most of the work with my buddy showing me what to do or how to do it. I had help with all the heavy lifting and welding. But the moral of the story it takes hard work and patience. Put ur mind to it watch videos join some coyote swap pages on Facebook. If u have questions most of the guys on those pages are more than willing to help. Good luck!!

If ford was to lower the price on their motor and parts it would be a lot of ford guys installing Ford Motors in their cars other than LS.

    • @donalderdbrink647
      @donalderdbrink647 6 ปีที่แล้ว +44

REAL Ford guys would NEVER put a LS in ANYTHING Ford!!! There's tons of options now that are fairly cheap like 2-3-4 valve engines and the 5.0-5.8 engines. Buying a new crate coyote and control pack is a little pricey but they're showing up more and more in the parts yards which is going to bring the price down.

As to swapping the twin I-beams from the later trucks... I did the same thing, but to my '66 F100 - have boosted disc brakes now - much better braking power, and it no longer pulls left or right. Same parts should fit a '65. I also swapped in a power steering box from the same donor - had to mix and match parts from the steering column to make it all work, but it wasn't too bad. As for the engine, I didn't go all the way to a Coyote - but went with a fresh 351W (with GT40P heads - short tube headers fit them) plus an AOD. It runs great, does 80 mph all day, and gets 17 mpg, which isn't too bad, all things considered.

my brother is building a '68 camaro with new power train components. personally i like going with what was available before they put brains in cars. to me the reason to drive old stuff is to bring back memories of yesteryear. not to try and improve on a classic. when you add a computer to an old ride you are basically screwing up what was nice about it in the first place imo.
now if you are young it might be because you like the old style better but my brother is 64. he has always had a thing for computers and technology but i am more a purist who would never think of dropping a multi valve engine in a 68 camaro.

The 6R80 is a best of a transmission in stock form. Strap a turbo on the coyote and e85 and you can make 800 whp reliably on stock everything and still have 20+ mpg. The old big blocks just can't compete is stock form.

I'm a Mopar guy but I love the old F-100 pickups. My favorites are the early to mid 50s F-100s but that is a really sweet restomod with that Coyote 302 in there and modern steering, suspension, and brakes. I get sick of seeing nothing but Mustangs and Camaros all the time. Cool to see a restomodded short box F-100 muscle truck. I hate when people completely modernize the interior and everything so it's like you're not even driving a classic anymore. If I was doing a build like that I would keep everything 100% original appearance wise other than wheels and tires. Really nice truck

That is one really nice F100. $40,000 on the up side sounds like a lot of money but my neighbor bought a new pickup and spent over $90,000 and she uses it to haul her kids around. I have a 1967 F100 Ranger and have always wondered what the best route was to make it a daily driver. Right now it has a 360 hooked up to a 4 speed and looks like the same paint as the truck in the background at 1:33 in the video. I also have a 1994 crewcab F350 with the 460 which is ok but a gas hog. It has a 5.9 Cummins waiting to go into it.

I owned a 78 ford heavy half ton trailer special. 3 spd auto, 4.10 gears with the 460. While I loved that engine and it was reliable, I'd take the 5.0 easily. Lol

is there a kit for a 65 f100? Really cool truck, sounds good!

You mentioned swapping to disc brakes and avoiding having to do a conversion kit. Where should I look to find that? I have 68’ Ford F250 Camper Special and I would love to do that^

What would be most cost effective, including the fun factor ? Swapping a 4.6 for the Coyote, or putting a blower and electronics and tune on the 4.6 ? This is a fabulous truck !

I would like to know that as well. I have a 2008 screw that I want to swap a coyote into. Replacing the 4.6 2v motor.

A Coyote swap F100 is wicked fast. Also if I had the money I would Coyote swap my 96 F150 in a heart beat.

Very nice F100, I love it!
BITD I had a 69 F100. I put a mildly built 429 and a built C6 transmission and 3.89 gears in it. It would easily outrun most of the cars I raced with it, including a mid 80s Corvette one time. He left quickly after getting beat by an old Ford truck, lol! It would make the big rear 33" tall 12" wide tires howl like a hound dog. I had a blast with that truck. It makes me wish I had kept it watching this video.
What are you asking for this truck, or is it already sold?

Out of curiosity what city are you in? The reason I'm asking is there are some areas that resemble Las Vegas, I lived there 35 years but moved back to Michigan in 2005. All I did was build cars & trucks and all the mechanics stuff, emission controls, computer electronics etc; Just to say, I'm enjoying your channel and I've subbed, liked, and clicked on the bell in hopes of seeing more of your works (fun), lol. Thank's for sharing.
