The studios actually hated TeamFourStar and the abridged series. They threatened lawsuit several times, spoken out that they didnt approve, but TFS was protected by the disclaimer they always put at the beginning
yea the peeps who like tfs are the ones that work with them with voice acting which gives tfs more credibility and protection
Oh that was sad ....tfs did a great job ....
They also took down their videos anyway several times despite it. Breaking the law in the process, even if TFS didn't press charges since that would be a long drawn out legal battle designed to be expensive so they wouldn't pursue it.
then they actually had them guest star in an episode. The studio hated them. The writers adored them
@@kagato23 if I remember correctly it was Toei that had an issue since they own the property and trademark. Funimation only do the Dubs and they were actually friendly with TFS
To clear things up, Funimation does not have any ownership of Dragon Ball, they have the rights to dub the series. Toei owns DB, and they are the ones that copyright strike TFS.

It was illegal for them to copyright strike them though since TFS is protected by the parody disclaimer.
The biggest benefit if the movies is that most of them relate directly to the plot at the time
Machis Malone but TFS also said they aren’t canon to their main episodes.

The baby Namekian is a random ass reference to the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey. There is literally no reason plotwise for it to be there, TFS just wanted to use it.

That's super weird that Kami was in Piccolo's head this Abridged episode, that would mean he's stronger than Goku and Vegeta who haven't been in the time chamber yet, I think that's a mistake on Team Four Star's part. I always assumed that this took place at the end of 3 years training just before the androids showed up.
no. i don't remember the cannon context. but for this they are going to visit dende. who was shown to already be on earth as the new kami. the only needed dende because piccolo fused with kami

@@FLStyle i don't know. I barely remember this movie so watching the DBZA was a refresher. It is possible that they moved it to fit their narrative. But i think part of the joke in their movies is that they are putting it in the correct timeline to show how impracticable all these things happening was in relation to the show.

I know I'm two years late, but the bit during the End Credits with Baby Piccolo and him flying through a corridor of light is basically a big reference to the ending scenes of the 1968-Sci-Fi-Classic "2001: A Space Odyssey"

Uhhhh y’all probably know this by now but Toei did not give a fuck about how popular DBZA was they kept trying to strike it and take it down and remove their channel on many occasions and that also led to them not wanting to do it anymore on top of many other things

Tfs wise, he should be, because it seems this is before Piccolo and 17 fight, but Dende being there doesn't fit since Gohan was already a Super Saiyan and had shorter hair before Goku stole Dende.
Having Dende be on Earth messed it up, no matter what, they couldn't have fixed it with Dende being on Earth because Gohan would technically be the strongest even in SSJ vs Goku SSJ, Vegeta and Goku would still be stronger than Cooler due to hyperbolic and Trunks would have possible been there or mentioned as well as the Cell Games happening soon if Dende was the new Kami.

As a Dragon Ball fan, hearing people say this is the best or only way to consume Dragon Ball content is so hurtful... Especially since there are so many people with this opinion now.

The team themselves literally say to support the original release, people saying it’s the only way are just taking things to extremes
However, the writing is better, but that’s partially because they don’t have the same constraints that Toriyama had, they don’t constantly have to change around the story because their editor disliked a design.
@@pv1612 The writing isn't better. I really only see people who haven't actually read or watch Dragon Ball say this. These guys are prime examples. People who caught episodes when they were younger and vaguely remember things here and there, but aren't actual fans who've re-watched it since. They don't recall the plot line, character moments, dialogue, the tone, themes or even the music. How can you critique a series that you know nothing about? Dragon Ball Z Abridged is a great Abridged series, but it's not better than the actual story. At all.
@@theavatar9191 As a dragonball fan, I can say its not hurtful at all unless you're too sensitive in general. I dont think anyone thinks its better, but people mature in taste, and for some people the way its been adapted is better. Some people think the anime doesn't do the manga justice. At the end of the day its an adaption of the original story in manga format. So if someone prefers this then there is no issue, and as long as people keep loving dragonball, then it will never die. Thats what you should focus on.

@@DmDaPDm But this isn't Dragon Ball in my eyes. This is a fan made Abridged series, which I happen to really enjoy. It started crossing the line of being an "adaptation" during the Android Saga, and that's where my problem lies. People take this series as canon and therefore we have so many "fans" of Dragon Ball who misunderstand all of the characters and don't even remember the actual story.

Hard disagree, I think it's easily one of the funniest. My pick for worst is either Dead Zone or the first Cooler movie.
EDIT: I'll revise, it is definitely funnier when you've seen the original movie (it doesn't seem like they had for the most part). Then you appreciate just how hard TFS takes the piss out of how stupid it is.
My least favorite was the Lord Slug one
Nuh uh. "Broly: Second Coming" is the worst one. And possibly the Bardock Special (the one with Chilled). "Bio Broly" isn't much better, but at least it has 18 and Mr. Satan to add some variety.
Sheesh, "Second Coming" even just re-uses Broly's LSS transformation from the first movie! They just barely cut out the parts where he breaks his restraints so you wouldn't notice.
