  • This DIY Sofa transforms into a bed and is way more comfortable than most convertible sofas since the design is based around a Tuft & Needle TwinXL mattress. The padded backrest is completely DIYed and doesn’t require any sewing. This entire DIY Sofa Bed was made from 3 sheets of ¾” plywood, some 3/8” bolts, finish screws, ¾” EMT conduit and 3-1/2” pool noodles.
    I used the linen sheet set also from Tuft & Needle in slate as the sofa cover.

    This is way better than your last video. Its functional, meets a specific need and is a good design for cost effective diy - better than a plywood desk for 1k $$$ costs. Thanks!

    Have been planing a small proyect that involves the use of conduit and needs some cushion and your idea of the pool noodles as cushion is just brilliant so I'm gonna steal it 😁😁

    how many hours did you spend building this sofa? Is it possible to use MDF board for this purpose? ( or it not strong enough )

    • @nilssxrgerx55
      @nilssxrgerx55 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Simple Life Hacks MDF in it self is pretty strong, but it wouldn’t work for this purpose.. large boards would sag over time, and screws would split the ends quite easily. Also painting MDF isn’t ideal, it absorbs a lot of paint. Birch Plywood would be better suited for this Projekt..

    i've loved lots of your designs but i don't see much point in this. usually the idea is that a sofa turns into a double bed. this is as much a bed in sofa mode as it is in bed mode, and takes up pretty much the same amount of space however you configure it.

    • @Pipiundkakiinpipikakaland42
      @Pipiundkakiinpipikakaland42 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the idea of a bed with lounging option. I’m more concerned about the use of a regular matress. It’s not recommended to sit on them. That’s why they don’t use them in sofas. After some time the matress will have holes in places you sit on and will be uncomfortable when you lay down on it.

    • @EricAshAdam
      @EricAshAdam 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i agree. makes no sense putting down the backrest cuz its not like you creating more space for bed. you can lay on it to sleep in sofa mode just as easily in bed mode
