    Great book for a beginner . th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ this book really starts from the beginning, as in it explains what basic tools are and how to use them. But when it gets to the art of creating joints and how and when to use them this book really starts to teach you something. At least that was my experience.

    I like the overall design and look of the platform. I would put some time into rounding edges as others have mentioned. Also those plywood corners are going to mar the floor without something to cushion them.

    Listen people..... This is a pretty design. But when two average size and weight people get to rocking, the bed probably won't be able to handle the weight. Which was evident by the need to add additional support under the bed.

    • @davidferrer678
      @davidferrer678 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Draketh Namikaze average size and weigh aka most Americans are on the bigger end so we just call it average size and weight.

    • @DrakethNamikaze
      @DrakethNamikaze 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidferrer678 That's why I said that the design with the materials as shown won't support more than one occupant. Certainly not two obese people.

    could you do a murphy bed that doesn't have a cabinet? I love the idea of a murphy bed but don't like it being obvious that it's a murphy bed by having the big box on the wall that it folds into. I was thinking maybe the locking mechanism could be on the side tables next to the bed or in a shelf that is flush above the bed when folded up.

  • @asencyel
    @asencyel 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Would you be interest to make a rollover design from this first concept later on ?
    The backside frame legs/floor supports could be cut in a radius form for the whole aseembly to fold up like a rocking chair, independent from the wall entirely with a mechanism provided at the upper wall side catching it with a latch push- in mechanism used in campervan conversions on above head cupboards.
    i think there was an overly priced lean/minimalist design firm simply selling this type of stand alone frames simply folded up to the wall without any carcass/frame box attached to the wall

    Amazing design. I really dig the triangle legs. But please be careful when matching the size of the mattress with size of the bed. A mattress too small does look awkward and the bed platform will definitely hurt your legs.

    • @jetah50
      @jetah50 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could probably add in some small (3" high) bent metal and attach it to the foot area to stop it from moving or add some non-slip carpet underlay.

    • @shawnfunstuff

      I just built it, it took two sheets. I made the headboard a single ply, improvised a bit on the slats and front legs, and had very little overhang.

      Yeah there has to be some kind of fix. I would think spew some Velcro to the bottom and hot glue more to the platform.

    • @BeFaithful00
      @BeFaithful00 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve done something similar. Simple fix: use the no-skid carpet grippers that go under area rugs. Got an 8’x10’ for $20 at the local big box and stapled it to the platform.

    if i lean aganst the backboard, wont the matress slip forward?

    • @Adistar-gtm
      @Adistar-gtm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why you leave those spaces between the slats. The mattress will sink in and it will not slip. Also at end of the mattress at the feet side you can screw a 3/4 inch by 1 inch ply or mdf strip that will prevent sliding.

    If you built it to have a 6 inch reveal all the way around, then why do your build directions have it at 68" wide? A queen would then only have a 4" reveal. Just wanted to double check if you had any thoughts or other comments on that. It's a cool design. I am personally doing it with the headboard supports flat on the ground.
