What sets Alton Towers apart from many other Theme Parks you find across the world, is the fact that every single themed area and roller coaster has a storyline and lore behind it, making the entire park and epic story as you progress through it. What makes it even better is the fact that the majority of these stories are horror themed.

A piece of the original Incredible Hulk coaster in Islands of Adventure is displayed over the Entrance to the ride since they redid the ride with new track as if Hulk himself broke it which I thought was cool. Yes the ride is technically the same as they didn't make any modifications to the track layout but they did completely remove the old track and replace it with an exact copy of new beams/rails etc. I thought it was cool they incorporated some of the old track as part of the entrance to the ride. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned.

There's a fair bit of that in the UK- for example, the entrance to the accomodation at the Thorpe Park resort has a load of old signage that used to be around the park, including old logos, signs, and bits and bobs that they have left over form things.
On a similar note, I recently learned that the original mascots of Thorpe Park are still on-site, in the old farm area (no longer accessible to the public). Kinda cool that remnants of the old family-friendly version of the park, before it turned into a thrill-seekers destination, are still there.

I'm thinking about how the videos theme isn't remnants in a broad sense, but remnants that no longer serve as a permanent theme park attraction beyond decoration or only as season event features, but that's not as a catchy title. Thus things like reused ride stations and footers (a prominent example being the reused Big Bad Wolf footers for Verbolten) are excluded from the list

I remember Rolling Thunder. I hated that ride. I went back in middle school with my then best friend, my head kept slamming into the safety harness. My ears were so red after getting off that ride, never went on it again. I went on Scream Machine once, it was meh. I do miss the Batman & Robin ride. We'd go on Batman first because it always had a longer line, then on Robin.

    • @RaindropsBleeding

Oddly enough Rolling Thunder was my favorite. Looking back I really can't imagine why, but I loved racing my friends on the other track. Scream machine was my first coaster with an inversion. When I finally worked up the nerve to go on Batman and Robin, it was already announced that it was the final year. I always thought it was because that first drop exceeded 5 Gs and new laws made it out of specs.

I took my son to Silver Dollar City when he was six years old. I was so excited for him to ride Buzzsaw Falls because I thought he'd be surprised when the water ride turned into a roller coaster. My wife and I had rode it in years past. I couldn't remember the name at the time. I just remembered the location in the park; so, Powder Keg meant nothing to me. We were both very surprised when we discovered there was no more water and were accelerated down the track at an excessive starting speed! It was his first roller coaster experience. I felt so bad. I didn't want to scare him from riding coasters. I'm glad to finally learn the story behind why it was tore down. It's a fun memory we have of Silver Dollar City and my son actually enjoys coasters to this day despite his initial shock.

    2. B&R: The Chiller; given how LIM is better understood now; could it work if something similar were to be built now?
    3. Regarding Rolling Thunder; I'm surprised that it didn't get the Iron Horse treatment.
edit: As far as Phantom's Revenge goes, the track in the station and the lift hill is Arrow track (Steel Phantom) and the rest of the ride is DH Morgan track. Also, the station and queue line for B&R: The Chiller was used for a Fright Fest maze one year.
As for roller coaster nicknames, the ones I can think of off the top of my head are: Spinebuster (Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland); Hang & Bangs (any Vekoma SLC); Anacon-DON'T (Anaconda at King's Dominion).
