I've loved Dvorak's music for decades. These musicians, both orchestra and director are brilliant. I have listened to many, many, recordings and seen a couple of performances of this work. This performance is like an exclamation point...just listen, you'll hear ! ! !
Maestro Orozco-Estrada is one of the finest conductors all over the world these days. His musical sensitivity and subtlety are astonishing and you can perceive it in every single detail. He even looks like a classical dancer while he conducts. I had the privilege of seeing him life a couple of weeks ago in Barcelona with Vienna Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven's 7th and that was pure heaven. Bravo maestro! (and come back soon).
here i have to remind you that GOOGLE and its' TH-cam engineers are doing an exceptional job at mastering and equalizing. The definition on my $300 Samsung soundbar is such that i can imagine what i would hear on a Bose 900 !!

Honestly I think each one of his sympbonies is greater than the last, but this one triumphs most superlatively in its harmonic richness and storytelling.

Dazu perfekte Ausführung der Komposition, es gibt keinerlei Leerlauf (ich halte sie für kompositorisch besser als die schon unglaubliche 9te Sinfonie, in der es doch einige wenige unnötige Längen gibt). Und dieses Orchester läßt das alles durchhören, Tempi, Farben, Zusammenspiel, Emotionen, alles passt zusammen. Der Dirigent ist ein Meister seines Faches.
The opening movement of this symphony is musically strong, but it quickly rushes into lyricism and astonishing joy, ending in a slower, more melancholy way. The second movement is enchanting, with a sublime harmony, elevating our sensitivity to emotional levels induced by the music we listen to. The scherzo is magnificent with a fantastic grace and delicacy. The symphony ends with an allegro full of strength and joy. This masterpiece is excellently directed by an amazing conductor and performed by a superb orchestra. Thanks for this unforgettable moment given by this excellent recording.
Extraordinary performance of this symphony which is less know than the "The new world symphony" , but in escence represent a patriotic symphony .We can understand musical nationalism as the inclusion of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic materials taken from folklore, with a clear territorial demarcation, in the cultured tradition, which it will significantly enrich. This movement will also be used as a claim element for political aspirations and the search for national identity longed for by many peoples subjugated to great empires.. The last movement has a significant influence by the last movement of the 4th Brahms symphony , i don't know why ,maybe because Brahms was pleasantly impressed by the music of the young Dvorak. Wunderschöne und lebhafte Aufführung dieser spätromantischen und ein bisschen ethnisch komponierten Sinfonie mit gut phrasierten doch perfekt vereinigten Tönen aller Instrumente. Der dritte Satz klingt besonders schön und echt lebhaft. Der intelligente und geniale Maestro dirigiert das ausgezeichnete Orchester im rhythmischen Tempo und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. I must admit to missing out on not hearing such an amazing piece of music so well performed by the above. This orchestra has such talented musicians playing wonderful music which is so enjoyable to hear. Compliments go to Dvorak to composing such a lovely Symphony. Totally enjoyable.

Back around 1950, I used to listen to Symphony #7 and Symphony #8 on my vinyl records. (In those days they were numbers 2 and 4.) Now what a joy to see and hear Orozco-Estrada in this brilliant performance!
Everyone seems to do the last minute of the finale different and it makes all the difference, either they speed it up and lessen the emphasis on the brass or or slug it through…. It needs to be savored

Honestly I think each one of his sympbonies is greater than the last, but this one triumphs most superlatively in its harmonic richness and storytelling.
The way he establishes the melody of the 3rd movement and then juxtaposes the violin countermelody on top of it later is so epic.
Performances like this have made quarantine so much easier to endure. Beautiful! I hope I can come visit some day in person for a live concert.

Finally, I get to see this. All I've ever heard by Dvorak have been the 8th and 9th and the cello concerto. And serenade for strings. This is good.
The orchestra and conductor gave full meaning to the mysterious opening to this symphony, and to the symphony's strength and spirit. Bravo!
