I would be pushing for a pre-vetting period for candidates before they're confirmed to be on the ballot. In between the time they apply to be on the ballot and they officially approved. Perspective candidates should be REQUIRED to go in front of an independent group where they can be interviewed as well as those that know them best to get to know the candidates better. They would also be able to review their tax records, medical records, criminal background checks, etc. and if to many red flags are found like Mark Robinson's recent scandal, they can be rejected from being on the ballot.
We could find a lot more of these kind of scandals BEFORE they're allowed on the ballot. It would put these extremist candidates on notice they would likely be kicked off the ballot.

If MAGA and Covid showed anything it's that so many people are not only dumber than previously thought (which is saying a lot), but also meaner than previously thought (which, again, is saying a lot). Dumb and mean? How could someone who wants to exploit the masses resist? MAGA is free money. As an example, just see a black person in a video game and say "woke" and "DEI." Harass immigrants and transgender people... play on fear and the unknown. It's that easy. That's why it's so concerning.

Just look at Christian and Bridget Ziegler and their swing sessions, it's clear that Christian fetishizes lesbians while still hating them. For a timeless example look at any homophobic pastor who inevitably turns out to be gay.

The fact that the race in any of those swing states is close at all is insane. The fact that 10s of millions of Americans are willing to vote for an obvious fraud that has been convicted of multiple felonies, has been found liable for sexual assault, and has declared bankruptcy no less than six times is just appalling. No one is perfect, but we’ve all known what DJT is for decades, and he’s never demonstrated any capacity for change.

A lot of Trump supporters support Trump because what they associate him with- it's rare for a supporter to actually research his promises, interests, and accomplishments. He's made an effort to yap about being a supporter of various classic American ideals (even if he doesn't actually embody them).
Combine that with largely shallow, surface-level (with occasional legit) criticism of Kamala & the democrat party from certain media sources/social media, and you get a large chunk of his voter base.
Think of it this way: Have you, personally, researched Kamala's (or Joe's) promises, interests, and accomplishments? If yes, then that's great, but can you say the same for your friends who (hopefully) also are voting for her?
If you don't explicitly look into someone's platform/history, whether or not you support them will very heavily depend on optics. Which is as subjective as it is influenceable.
Tl;dr: He has as many voters as he does because mfs don't actually look into the guy, and vote largely on optics/what they're fed.

@@snkybrki I think what it comes down to today as we face a real crossroads in this country, is a vote for Harris is also a vote against the lies and conspiracy theories that go on and on where the right wing maga like media has been telling a lot of good people for years one made up piece of horse shit story after another. Trump is just a product of their made up National Inquirer type headlines. In actuality I don't think that part of the media gives a damn how divided our country becomes as long as they get viewers. That is the crux of this nightmare we are now faced with! They have no regulations on them at all, which of course is the American way, especially since the FCC took the reigns off them. Obviously the successful lawsuits against them is not nearly enough to shutter their doors. What I believe and what makes this country so great, freedom of speech for one, is voting BLUE across the board is a way forward to begin the healing I feel, with saner minds in charge. Madison, WI here. Just attended the Harris rally on Friday. Not one open seat available. People were excited to listen to her, and she was inspiring.
Madison is much more liberal than most of WI. The University of Wisconsin is here as well. Not nearly as many Trump signs here (I travel to Texas about once a month, and the difference is…startling). Many of us are volunteering to work the election polls. The high population of students helps to keep folks more informed and provides many opportunities to get involved politically. We have an extremely diverse population, with many folks having a Hispanic or Laotian family background (among many others). We have an exceptionally strong LGBTQ+ community who is active, vocal and welcoming. There are large/public pride events here (open LGBTQ+ owned business markets in the summer, festivals, etc).
I live in a subdivision full of working families. There are practically no campaign signs anywhere (lawns or billboards). I know of neighbors on both sides politically, however this county has gone blue in every presidential election since 1932 (with the exception of Eisenhower) - so most around here would rather be at peace with their neighbor, than be loud about their politics.
And, yes! I’m registered! Vote Blue! 💙💙💙

For example, if I count the ballots by machine ten times, and I get one count that does not agree, then the chance of the count being wrong is about 0.005^9 = 2*10^-21. Maybe once in the lifetime of the universe would you be wrong. Counting by hand is very slow, biased, and inaccurate.

Since she has been the candidate, I watched it go from 25/75 to 40/60 to 50/50 and now to roughly 70/30 for harris/trump sign ratio. This includes some yards that changed signs also. On top of talking to people, I have confidence that Michigan will end up blue this year.

There’s one truck on my block that had a giant LET’S GO BRANDON on the rear window and a big MAGA banner on the tailgate. The week after Biden dropped out, they replaced those with a normal flag and a little Outer Banks sticker.😂

In Michigan I'm seeing a strong pull for Harris on the ground. Case in point, my neighbor said, to paraphrase, " I don't always vote... but this one seems important."
    YES.

I was scared to come out as bisexual to my conservative wife, but when I did, I got a hug from her. She has been supportive and gotten pregnant with twin daughters. She has been my support as a bi man towards my family , She stuck up for me to my homophobic mom.

She's my mothers best friend through childhood and stood up to her on my defense. My mother had a fit when I said I was engaged to her best friend.

I don’t understand why your votes can be played with depending on which state you live in or why your votes have a second step where your votes can be used to go against what you voted for. I know my country is smaller than most (if not all) your states but when I cast my vote for a candidate I know that is the final step of voting and I get to actually exercise my democratic right to vote

😮 Totally agree with your comments about Robinson. How do such people even get nominated to run for office?! Happy Bi Visibility Day, by the way ❤

Are you sure this is really fear and self-loathing, and not just a sociopathic love of inflicting harm? I think its a different order in the chicken-egg situation, I think most of these anti-trans politicians who also fetishize trans folks are attracted to the idea of someone that they could "use, abuse, and then dispose of". I think that you're doing a disservice to the people who actually have gone through struggles with sexual identity to say it's just projected shame. These politicians have an addiction to power, and causing harm.

Probably a blend of confounding variables. Shame and power addiction in varying ratios. Some with no shame whatsoever, as you proposed.

It might be the fetishization of a perceived taboo status and the desire to maintain or propagate that taboo to maintain the ability to indulge in that fetishization. That's something I heard floating around, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's also imploding in Colorado. They held a meeting to oust the party head. Now they are in an argument as to what that meeting was legal and courts are going to have to be involved.

I live in an 80% Trump county in Ohio. There are FAR less Trump signs around than there were in 2016 and 2020 and I almost never hear people talking politics in public like I did the previous two elections. However, the "Christians" round here will still vote for him even if they're becoming publicly embarrassed to admit it so I doubt there will be much change in the state vote totals. Best case scenario for us would be to hold on to Sherrod Brown.

Also no early voting in Alabama I also check my registration every week or so. At least I'm fortunate that I'm in one of the few (maybe the only?) blue counties in the state.

I have brought up voting for kamala. Personally i don't care about the border or rather the economy as much as i should. Why? Because all of our ancestors were immigrants and lifes short if its my time to go its my time to go. For the economy as long as i have a job thats good enough for me. The main reasons why im voting for kamala is abortion rights, morals, and democracy.
