    Made in Sweden! One company that deserves to be supported for not moving their operation to China! That's worth any amount of money.

      I own the exact set. For ~$120 it's actually not terrible value, made anywhere. But at the same time, it's just stamped aluminum that rolls off a decades-old assembly line... Some Japanese manufacturer would make a big deal of their ancient technology and charge any schmuck a lofty premium.

    When I first got into Trangia stoves, the first one I got was the T28 mini Trangia just so I could test the burner, I really liked it and so got myself a 27-1UL which is now my standard go to cookset ,but what I`ve found is that the 800ml pot from the Mini Trangia will easily nest inside the 1litre pots of the 27 cookset for transport and will fit on to the pot stands of the 27 set for cooking since the base diameters of both pots are the same, it just gives you more options for cooking or heating water when you`re out in the field(3 pots and a frying pan) for only a tiny increase in weight.

    Just a suggestion. When cooking the pasta put a couple of cup a soups into the water. It's a real easy way to give decent flavour to pasta.
    Assume they have something similar in States. Basically they are packets of powder that you add water to and get soup. I tend to find that doubling up the recipe level gives a decent thickness of soup. Not tried it with macaroni, but works great with noodles. Basically gives you two meals in one. Drink the soup, then eat the pasta.

    Great kit, I have the same kit. If you check, you'll find that the frying pan and the bowls are anodized aluminum not titanium. Otherwise a nice vid.

    My young wife and I loved to camp by the rivers in the wilderness, fishing. Since we were not skilled enough living on fish only, we used these things to cook our meals on brought with us food.

    Nice review mate!
    I wouldn't part with my Trangia 25-1 (Hard Anodised) for all of the tea in China.
    Absolutely, without question, my Trangia is one of the best things that I own and will undoubtedly prove to be one of the best investments I have made.
    Trangia's are also popular here in England, although in my opinion, people tend to only use them sporadically - mainly on the odd camping trip here and there.
    I use mine virtually every day, cooking everything from the humble pot of porridge to more gourmet meals fit for a King. To date, I have cooked the following; Potato & Corned Beef Hash, Lambs Liver & Onions, King Prawns & Garlic Stir-Fry, the acustomary Full English Fry-Up, Chili Con Carne, Mashed Potatoes, Shepherds Pie, Stewed Apples & Cinnamon, French Toast, Beef Stew & Dumplings, Sausage Casserole, Tomato Soup and have even managed to 'bake' a Steak & Ale Pie with a little imagination.
    From Porridge to a Pie and from indoors to outdoors, I have enjoyed every moment of cooking on this baby!
    To anybody considering buying a Trangia, I would wholeheartedly recommend that you do. Has you can see, I have cooked various meals on mine from boiling water indoors to cooking gourmet dishes whilst camping and hiking up and down the land.
    Great video again mate and I have subscribed to your channel.
    Regards,
    Chris (UK).

      Glad to have you onboard, appreciate the support! Sounds like you've got quite an attachment to your Trangia, I seriously love my set. That Prawns and Garlic Stir Fry sound great!

    • @christopherrowan3886
      @christopherrowan3886 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you and you're very welcome mate. Yes, King Prawns & Garlic Stir-Fry is a speciality of mine. I wish I could make you some lol. I visit Cornwall a lot and the first thing I look for is a good fishmongers as the fresh fish and seafood caught daily from the Cornish coast is amazing. Scottish mackerel is also the best and at the end of an hard days rambling in and around The Highlands when visiting Bonny Scotland, a fried mackerel (or two lol!) served with mustard mashed potatoes or a baked spud on my Trangia is an added highlight. The point is, with a Trangia, people aren't just limited to rehydrating Mountain House meals and boiling potatoes. I must admit though, Mountain House meals are rather good in a pinch.
      Anyway, thanks again matey for your excellent demo. I enjoyed it a lot.
      All the very best,
      Chris (UK).

    Good review. I ve been using this kit for many years and had hundreds of trips with it. the 27 series is designed as a one man kit. Also it weighs a tad over two lbs not one.

    Interesting. Way more pieces than I'd care to pack. I prefer simplicity...canteen cup and stand, Esbit stove,Swiss M71, or MSR Pocket Rocket. Thanks for keeping vid short. Haven't got the time for these guys with their 1 hour videos.

      BushcraftWoodsDevil Unless it's someone I "know" online, I don't watch videos past 10 minutes so I try to keep the footage short and to the point. I roll with a metal canteen cup & Esbit stove for myself. The Trangia is a good fit to feed more than 1 person...which is why I'm putting in my primary emergency kit

    "I'm just gonna shave this stick down so I can light my open alcohol burner with it..."
    I'm sure you've figured it out by now: IF you don't want to risk lighting the burner directly with your lighter and losing hair, you dip the stick in the alcohol, light the stick, and light the burner with that.
    Handles are cheap. If you can spring for Ti you can buy a replacement handle. You look comical juggling those pans. :)

      @TheSurvivalOutpost  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Billy Madge That's my OCD kicking in lighting the burner...I use my lighter now.

    another thing whit this set is. you can use it for day to day operation or just camping (or when I get any money for when power goes out that one time a year) or when I just whant some outdoor cooked food made 50 meter/yard from my front door.
    Bought a Emergency sewing kit and yes it was supper compact and all but after you open it its impractical to assemble again whit all the parts, I can but that is like several min of work. so that kit becomes a open and unpack ones never pack and close again.
    and thats the problem whit a lot of the survival kits they are super compact and great but they are almost a one time use only.
    the sew kit had some treads but it was to small to fit any standard Spool/bobbins meaning when you used up the little threads that was in the kit (that i used to fix one sweeter) you got a mostly useless kit and im not sure if I want to carry around lose spools in a survival kit.
    and as you said your usally not on your own but whit other and in that case better to carry kit suited for several and have them carry part of the load.
    a mess kit for one vs a mess kit for several is not exponential more heavier meaning the larger the group is the more each can carry individual.
    another thing I like about this kit (we used it all the time in scouting) is that the "frying pan" can be used as a lid anyway. and its usually hot enough to cook some food item on while you got a pan whit water and something else.

    Hey there!
    I found that the combination of just the trangia burner and a hobo stove works great. That way you have more options in terms of fuel.
    Keep it up, I'll certainly subscribe.

    Hey man, best review of the Trangia I have been able to find. Definiatly sold me on this one, gonna get the 25 set. And you're right. Rambo won't do when SHTF.
    Another pro that came to mind is that alcohol is and will be pretty abundant. This thing could run gasoline as well, in a pinch. Can't say that about the canister stoves. Once you're out, you're out. Also the design seems very low-tech, which I prefer personally.

    • @TheSurvivalOutpost
      @TheSurvivalOutpost  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it! Still got the set, I break it out when I take the kids in the forest. Solid gear by Trangia and well priced. Good point about alcohol being available, preferably you want to have a stove that can be used with multiple fuel sources.

    • @AcidProblemChild
      @AcidProblemChild 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, redundancy if you wanna use a fancypants words ;) If you've ever cooked on fire for any length of time you start to appreciate the stability of temperature you get with a liquid/gas fuel stove.
      What is that spoonlike tool you use towards the end?

    • @TheSurvivalOutpost
      @TheSurvivalOutpost  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol yup redundancy. That's why my favorite stove ATM is the Esbit 5 Piece Treker set. Can use wood or alcohol. I do prefer alcohol though for ease of use and like you say, temp stability. That spoon is the CRKT Eat'N XL Multi-Tool -> amzn.to/2fkGKMa

    #1 That's isn't titanium. Your weight is way off. That version, without the kettle, is nearly 2 lbs. (amazon says it's 1.6 but it's closer to 1.9) #2 That isn't a new system, it's basically the exact same design used by NATO/ the Swiss and Polish armies for many many years, only that one is aluminum (check ebay ) #3 How are you getting "long term survivability" on a heavy system that relies on denatured alcohol? Don't get me wrong, it's great for something like short term power outages or car camping but far less than ideal for "SHTF gear".

    • @TheSurvivalOutpost
      @TheSurvivalOutpost  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Touching on great points -> training evolution and better gear choices based on experience. Now years later, I've chosen a cookset system that can burn wood or alcohol. Alcohol or burners like Crux stove are great for backpacking and quick meals when you don't have time or ability to start a fire just to heat up water or food.
      For 24-72 hr gear sets, the Optimus Crux is a great choice. No fire needed, just a fuel canister that can last for days on end.

    • @TheSurvivalOutpost
      @TheSurvivalOutpost  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This cookset is better suited for two people to use and cook on vs one person. The size of cookset that you choose really depends on what you have planned..is it a multi day trip with more than one person? How much food will you be taking? What kind of food? Will it be food that requires prep work or is it just freeze dried meals that just require water to cook?

    Just landed on this video of how not to use a Trangia. Most Trangia's are used for camping; not preparing for some dystopian future. First, this isn't titanium. It's aluminium, with non stick pans and frying pan. Opening it upside down isn't a good look. Didn't your kit come with a handle grabber? Put the pan or the strainer on top of the pan would heat your pasta a lot more quickly. Chopping up your sausage with what looks like a metal spork on a non stick frying pan is not recommended. Sad video.
