Discharge - Victoria Hall, Hanley, Stoke (11th March 1983)
Alright here's aa true punk rock rarity, Discharge complete
and in coulour from 1983.
Now i had so many versions of this show over the years and
all were B+W and grainy as well as being highly generated,
eventually i came across the 2 versions i used to make this
DVD. They were on the end of a 4 hour tape after a Conflict
show and when i played them on my SVHS player they retained
a very watchable colour, now the front camera footage has
all 20 tracks unlike the other versions i have seen, omly
Decontrol is mising the end so i added a40 seconds from a
B+W copy which had 20 seconds of silence right where the
join had to be made so i cut the silence out and it works fine.
Now the on stage camera footage i had bever seen but it was
on the same tape but only 8 tracks in colour so i added them
as a bonus, i have an almost complete version of the on stage
footage but its in B+W missing tracks 1 & 11, also 2 tracks
have there starts cut so i decided to not bother with that version,
anyway the 8 bonus tracks give you a flavour of how good this
show could be if "Cal" would allow it to be released.
I asked actually asked him about it on the 1994 tour and he
said he didn't like the sound so he didn't want it released,
the rest of the band did but without his agreement there was
nothing they could do... "WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY BUT WHY.."
Anyway i put a lot of work into this and its definetly came
out really good so turn it up fucking loud and remember...
"Theres no real music and i'm just shouting and screaming.."

I'm in that crowd somewhere near the front...16 at the time...unreal that night was
Really awesome yeah
Without a doubt , THE greatest UK hardcore band of all time .Legendary
And the most copied worldwide
in 2020 this still holds up and it is still brutal as hell. Classic.
@@yarg-gray Yes , 40 fucking years old my friend
Saw discharge with gbh and i think they were called eraserhead way way back ,see em a few times over the years but that first time was easily the best ,woulda been 16 or 17 ,54 now still into em as much now as i was then ,love it.
One of the very best punk bands ever to play in the 80’s!
They messed up so perfectly. This set is insane
Had the pleasure to see them 1982 at the 100 Club in August.Great show my ears are still bleeding.......
Fucking sick! WHY and HN, SN, SN are so fucking brutal even to this day.
pura energía punk, el mejor video de Discharge en vivo
At there prime no one could come close to discharge , Fukin punk rock at its best I miss those days
Exploited? Ramones? GBH?
defo NOT in there prime here!
@@davidevans125 Discharge needs Bones. Otherwise class lineup.
@@munkymoo3006 agreed
never forget!!!
Maloney is just fantastic, and his hair was tits!
I WISH I WAS THERE!
is it just me or did they screw up a few times ? still a great performance
hahahaha yeah they did, Kelvin was like WTF?
hahaha they were prob wasted
That's a great thing. That just means this was a raw performance. Not extra "produced", 100% the real deal.
It wouldn’t be live if nothing went wrong lol

This is one of those songs you wish you could have written.
😍
Discharge rules
Odio rabia locura descontrol que mas se puede pedir
Yes they DID messed it up but look at that fucking crowd going BERSERK!
Cal lost the count for the bars!
I've always considered this footage the best possible visual metaphor for insufflating high quality amphetamines.
The fact that they fuck up colossally after the second chorus only supports this narrative haha
prik
I'm so confused. on tue right hand side all in black looks like the guitarist but thats not bones?
Yeah, I agree, is that Bones or someone else?
Yarg Pooch I believe
@@yarg-gray Bones had left by the end of 1982 to work with his brother Tezz in "Broken Bones". This was Pete Purtill on guitar at this point and he stuck around for several years. He also came from a more "metal" background (not a bad thing)..
@@JohnnyangelNIU thanks for clearing that up Joseph. Was hard to tell from the footage. I did get to see Broken Bones when they finally came to the states I believe it was the F.O.A.D tour. Still have 4-5 pics from my horrible camera. That show doesn't even compare to this pure brutality. This is classic Discharge. Man they were incredible.
what did they put in their hair ?
egg white , I was told!
Yup, egg whites!
egg whites lol punks use soap to spike their hair
dazla1965 I've heard both. plus surely some hair spray? it all looks pin straight and stiff
soap mate i should know i got through loads of bars lol was a nightmare if it rained though would run in your eyes and sting like a bitch
