- Patchouli is steam distilled from the leaves of a humble, bushy herb of the mint family. When people smell the oil’s aroma they seem to either love it or hate it. In fact Patchouli is a good example to show how oils can be paradoxical in many ways. Not only are people divided on its scent but it can have both stimulating and sedating effects. If you are overactive and take a large dosage, it can calm you. If you are depressed or exhausted, have a little. Overall though Patchouli is a balancing oil, great for heightening experiences on all levels.

I woke up this morning and just automatically reached for my patchouli scented oil. Love when divine timing happens!
Patchouli really works. Mix it with a carrier oil and apply a lot to your toes and you'll be well chilled out.
I've been working with Essential Oils blends for awhile now and recording my results...Patchouli is a favorite and I've had several great blends with it. I'll share my notes here on the most successful ones:
Blend #2: Frankincense, Patchouli, Cinnamon Leaf, Bergamot, Tangerine, Lemon
Scent: chocolatey, rich, spicy
Body: balances the nervous system, energizes, refreshes, relaxes muscles, relieves pain
Mind: confident, energized, euphoric, focused
MAKE THIS ONE AGAIN*
This one smells amazing! Almost like chocolate.
Blend #3: Patchouli, Tea Tree, Rosemary, Lemon, Tangerine, Peppermint
Mind: awake, alert, confident, creative, focused, happy
Worked on music. Got some stuff done - more on the technical side rather than creative. Perhaps a good blend for sound design, mixing, choosing sounds, etc.
Blend #21: Frankincense, Patchouli, Pine Needle, Lavender, Sweet Orange, Lemon, Tangerine, Grapefruit
This mix is TRANSCENDENT.
Carnelian: Patchouli, Frankincense, Ginger, Juniper Berry, Cinnamon Leaf, Sweet Orange, Tangerine, Pine Needle, Peppermint
This is a blend I made to try to evoke the energies of Carnelian. My Carnelian seemed to like it!

I💖 Patchouli! i have worn it on my heart and my wrists almost everyday for 25 years. some times i mix a tiny drop of vetevert with it. ive put it in dryer sheets, home made air freshners, lotion home made body scrub ect. I fell in love with it at a little french shop back home. only the essential oil has that scent...nothing i mean nothing can copy that amazing scent. the only thing i have noticed continually is that ive had tons of loss and hurts in my life. however I have made it through and im not saying it wasvtha patchouli but on my worst days id drive all the way back home if i forgot to put it on.i have keeped my huor and ability to not become bitter. sometimes i have to go through many retailers before getting that one thats perfect if i have problems getting it! it sounds like a drug right!! lol Well for me....maybe it is!!.....time to go sniff the patchouli!! wink wink 😉 You said capricorn here! Do you add the oil straight or cut with a carrier?
Your right, it has so many purposes, not only does it smell wonderful, its great for de-stressing and headaches. I mix it with a carrier oil and massage into my toes - a 10ml mix will chill you out instantly. I would also recommend this oil for people who suffer from any anxiety or depression.

Patchouli oil has been my favorite since a kid I was introduced to this amazing oil at age eight & has been with me ever since bury me with patchouli oil....

Patchouli is heaven scent. Not only does it smell fantastic its good for relaxing your body and also is good for headaches. For de-stressing - add some patchouli to any carrier oil such as almond oil - and massage into your feet concentrating more on your toes - use a fair amount - the more you use the more chilled out you become. For headaches - I simply boil a kettle of water -pour into a large plastic bowl, then add 4-5 drops . Put a towel over your head and inhale up to 5 mins. Your headache will go.
Not only do people love it OR hate it; I myself love it AND hate it! Since it appears to form bigger drops than some other oils, I always end up with proportionally more than I want - not a problem for big batches of soap, for example, but very easy to do when you're just putting a couple drops in a diffuser.
I mix patchouli with lemon juice and put it in my shoes as a deodorant

I've loved patchouli since I was a young hippie wannabe. It was "hip", "far out", and "groovy". It also caused an uproar in school because they thought it was marijuana they smelled. Please keep in mind that the school, community authorities, and the local police were not very savvy about it yet. Still love it and put a few drops on a paper towel and set not the grill of my fan. Peace all you groovy dudes and dudettes.
Your spot on - My father used to think the same thing - It took me many years to find out what that rich earthy exotic smell was - I remember as a teenager in the 80's, this gothic looking woman would come on the bus wearing her biker jacket and the whole top deck could smell it. I use it now on a daily basis for many purposes, love the smell of it.

Patchouli i hace worn for decades. Once i putbit on it becomes me, i cant smell it anymore, but other people live it and comments of what it is. It wakes me up in the morning and focuses me. When i get to work i become the leader i should be. Patchouli will always be my fragrance. People that know me say thats my signature fragrance! And a good way to even calm them down when they smell it and also a good way to find me..loool
Patchouli always seemed to remind me of the scent of potting soil so I tend to associate it with that. Took me a few years to wIn me over but now I love it
