Great story and video. Though I have seen probably about a hundred of different documentaries about Tibet, this one brings in plenty of new material.

I began my journey in early January 1972 with the reading of Taoisms Water course Way as Translated by Alan Watts. I was a soldier at the time and learned the Way of Peace. As a member of the Sangha I discovered all faiths try to take us home and ease the suffering of all human Beings. This film is a Window into the Buddhist Truths. That all life is suffering and all suffering is caused by our desires to eliminate suffering we must eliminate Desires! I have studied The Way and found the Peace of Buddha and Christ combined like our fellow pilgrim Thomas Merton aka Father Louis. The brother of the Dalai Lama ❤

I enjoyed seeing the many people still devoted to this path. Is it brave of them to give up so much, to live so simply? I don't presume to understand. For me it would be, yet I feel some calling for it. Thank you for sharing this very special journey.

Please allow me to interrupt. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. In Pidhauli (Vaishali) the local deity is Bardiha Baba. Bardiha means the Baba who didn't allow us to stay where he was staying. Bardiha Baba is the Buddha no doubt because he didn't allow the crowd of Lichavies to stay with him in Bandagama. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to Buddhists.

@@matthew13579 I do research on Buddhism in Bihar and UP. These are big revelations which debunk the theory that India converted to Buddhism. I want most Buddhists to know this with the hope it reaches scholars ears so that they can direct Buddhist research in India in the direction I have pointed out. There is a myth that Hinduism has hundreds of gods and goddesses. It now turns out these gods and goddesses are none other than the Buddha and other Buddhist characters. The best way to spread the word is through social media. I know I have been rude and forceful. But I personally think I did the correct thing. I have received quite a few thanks of appreciation.

What they say about dissolving into a bright rainbow is true. Someone close to me was kind enough to let me bear witness as this happened to them in what you could call a dream, as they left this earth. I woke up to a message in my phone telling me the person had passed, of course I already knew. I had never seen or felt so much happiness and love before and since. I’m so grateful, and do not fear death now.

The translation in hilariously inaccurate. Most of what is said in Tibetan was not translated, or poorly so.
The English dialogues are either based on things said off camera or entirely made up.
    Stunning visuals though!

I really wish the Dalai Lama would help strip Buddhism of all the mystical fluff that tends to surround it. Buddhism has so much to offer the world-mindfulness, breath control, meditation, and the pursuit of inner peace through Nirvana. But too often, these powerful practices get overshadowed by unnecessary, esoteric elements. Simplifying the message would make it far more accessible to people genuinely interested in its core teachings

I don’t think they’re necessarily hiding things. I’ve heard many are afraid of the misuse of power that comes with some teachings, like how nuclear was given to people for energy production and now misused as weapons. People need to grow into themselves before they get those knowledge, otherwise they’ll do more harm than good.
