  • Simple Onion, Garlic, Tomato Rice Pilaf. Serve as a side to your favorite entree. This super easy to make side dish tastes great with Steak, Kebabs, Curry and much more!! So try it out!
    Serves 3-4
    Prep Time: 5 min
    Cook Time: 30 min
    Ingredients:
    2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
    1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
    1 Small Onion (Diced) - 1/2 cup
    1 Tomato (Diced)
    2 Cups Rice - Any kind of rice will work (Make sure to follow the appropriate cooking instructions)
    4 Cups Liquid - Chicken stock or Water (Or a combination of both - The more chicken stock the more flavorful your Pilaf will turn out)
    Seasoning - Any of your favorite spices (Chilli Powder, Paprika, Black Pepper, etc) and Salt (Be careful when adding salt as Stock is already salty) Always taste the liquid before adding the seasoning.
    Cilantro, Mint or Parsley for Garnish
    Additional Tips: Before adding the rice to the pot add any vegetables of your choice and sauté to make Vegetable Rice Pilaf
    Enjoy!

    +A's Cookbook I like this recipe but I'm not able to balance the water level and heat to make the rice as fluffy as you make it. The amount of water/broth that I add is twice that of rice but I I'd still get saugy rice at the end. Please please please help me. What am I doing wrong?????

      +Jenny Adams I honestly didn't use four cups of water I used two and a half I felt four was to much water and it was it came out perfect with two and a half and after u cook and turn off heat let it sit for a good five min or more to and get a fork and fluff it

    Is chicken stock is necessary can't we pour plain water reply fst.....,........

    • @AsCookbook
      @AsCookbook  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Niraja Ravikumar You can make it using plain water as well but it won't taste as flavorful. You can add some frozen veggies (after cooking the onions) or add some vegetable stock to add flavor. If you don't have any of those available then just use plain water. Hope that helps!

    • @ibowling1818
      @ibowling1818 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes chicken stock would add more flavour, but I did not have any on hand and used water. It came out just as delicious.😃

    You burned the garlic. That makes it bitter. Add it just before adding the tomatoes, which will all the rawness to cook out but will prevent burning.

    • @YuruCampSupermacy
      @YuruCampSupermacy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No the garlic wasn't burnt at all. Burnt garlic looks dark brown and is used in some dishes. The garlic in this recipe has no chance of burning because as soon as it started turning golden brown onions and tomatoes were added and the water released from those would have brought down the temperature.
      I don't think amateur cooks like you should be judging other people's food. Lol
