I made this recipe yesterday and it was delicious. I had a few people over for dinner and served this pilaf along with chicken thigh kababs and they were impressed. Thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you! I have made it and it was delicious. Turkish rice of course! Greetings from Romania! In November I'll be in Istanbul with my family God willing.
I made rice your way tonight for dinner. It was perfect!!!! I didn't have orzo so I broke spaghetti into one inch pieces. I did everything else exactly like instructed. It was fabulous!!! My family loved it!!! The rice was perfect. It wasn't sticky at all. My new forever recipe!!! Thank you so much. I'm still smiling over how my rice came out. I even kept a teapot with hot water on the stove to add to the rice!!!! Next the chicken dish!!!
Hi Sharon, your welcome. I am very happy to hear that 😊 it is our family’s favorite too. Enjoy it. What type of rice did you use? Where do you live? Itncan help to the others trying to find the best rice other than Turkish ones we use
Hello dear person. I live in San Jose, California. I used Mathama Long Grain Rice. We have many international stores here so I may have been able to find the rice you listed. We have many varieties in our supermarkets. I used what I had on hand . Next I'm going to use Jasmine or Basmati. We are quarantined here and all I have is a large package of Basmati so that will be next. There is no rice of any kind left in most supermarkets.
sharon murrell basmati is a good choice anyway 😊 I used to use that when I wan living in New York years ago. Wishing you a safe healthy days ahead 🙋🏻♀️🌿
I added super finely minced onion and garlic while toasting the orzo!! Took it to another level! This turkish recipe is so simple and delicious! Thank you!
I have made this dish twice now, and my husband and I love it. Thank you for sharing the step-by-step method in your video. We are in USA. I love all of your videos.
Selam Ayşenur hanım, I've made your recipe a few times now and it tastes absolutely delicious! The only difference is that after sautéing the orzo and rice together, I immediately transfer it to my rice cooker (a must have in all Asian households 😁) It makes the rice more fluffier! My Türk husband prefers my rice over his mother's but I told him never to say that to Anne or we will both get into trouble! Thank you so much for your recipe! ❤️
I made this today for a big birthday celebration it was delicious. I made it with a lamb roast for my daughter's Godfather who is Greek and we all loved it. Tesekkür edeirz. I'm making it part of my side dishes. My husband is Lebanese and they make it very similar but your recipe is far better. Let's not let him know. I would love a pot like yours.
Sorry I just read your lovely comment after three years ☺️ I am glad to hear you enjoyed and I hoped it became your staple side dish as how it is at my home 😊🙋🏻♀️
We went to a Turkish restaurant yesterday and I fall in love with the rice. It was delicious. When I came home, I search the recipe for Turkish rice. I found this recipe. I cooked today for dinner and guys the taste is just like the one we had yesterday at the restaurant. You can eat on its own. I want to eat some more but I refrain myself. Guys try this recipe, it’s very delicious.
Nice to discover your channel and what a delicious looking rice dish. Very interesting to see that you don’t add spices. Blessings from England 🏴🙋♂️🇹🇷
I learned to make a similar dish from my mother about 50 years ago. After sauteing the grains in butter we flavor it with onion soup and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes in a covered dish. The onion soup is like a french onion soup. From Ohio USA.
Well, I just made this rice dish today and I just had to make your stuffed cabbage rolls again. I had this rice dish many years ago at the wedding of one of my Turkish colleges and I kept craving it. So I’m happy that I found the recipe on youre channel. Thank you for sharing. I’m going to enjoy my meal now. 🙋🏽♀️👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾
Thank you for the recipe 🙏...I made the rice today and it was perfect. Everytime I went to a Turkish restaurant, I wondered how this rice was made....and now I know. Thanks again!!!
I’ve been doing this for years, but I had no idea it was Turkish. Thank you! I love your recipes. I have lots of Turkish friends, and I enjoy very much eating at their homes. Now I can make some recipes myself! Thank you!
Aysenur, bless you for teaching us how to cook and turns out delicious too. What I love about your video is, it's not too long. I don't have the patient to watch cooking video for 10 or 15 mins. thank you so much.
Just discovered your channel - and love your cooking instructions! Precise if necessary, otherwise figurative and fully accurate when it comes to experience and feeling."The rice and the orzo should be like sand" - at the beginning you wonder, but when cooking it is exactly that: the rice behaves like the sand on the beach when building castles. I didn't have a homemade chicken stock, I used a high-quality broth, I think that's indispensable. Perfect result - thank you very much!
Thank you for sharing this lovely dish using all the beautiful kitchenware.. In Egypt we have the same dish for every day rice .. but we use vermicelli instead of orzo..
We Iraqis are addicted to rice possibly more then Chinese..we use very fine noodles "kunafa like noodles"..i promise will cook your version pilaf this weekend in aha Allah..still very hot in Arizona.Tashakurat..😊
A kind of vermicelli is also made in villages of india by older women by having a dough in one and and making string by rubbing the dough between two fore fingers of other hand and that is sun-dried and stored. Now they are machine made too.
Just want to say you doing a fantastic job keep them coming 🙂 also I got 3 Turkish cook book and not seeing the pictures and step by step how too make it so glad I come across on TH-cam to find you making it very simple well done 👏
I just made this and beef with chickpeas, I cant wait to eat. I was going to post the picture but I guess you can't on TH-cam. The chickpeas and beef was really good I haven't tasted the rice yet, it's cooling.
Assalamu alaikum. I just wanted to say JazakumAllahu khairun for this recipe it was absolutely delicious. I made it for my children and they loved it, Alhamdulillah! We are it with chicken kebabs and a mint yoghurt dip.
I only, very recently, within the past year, discovered Orzo, I had used Vermicelli before that. I also used Jasmine Rice previously, and upgraded to Basmati, primarily. I have made similar dishes several times in the past. I enjoyed your easygoing, calm style and presentation. Subscribed.
Afiyet Olson .... love this dish. Married to a Turk I make this quite often and my American friends and family love it. Please for further recipes use measuring cups, because when they say 1 turkish teacup of something.....well I have 3 sizes of the Turkish (cay bardak).... thank you love all your recipes. Please show us some Kurban Bayram recipes...thanks.
I always use universal measuring cups and 1 cup is 250ml . I know in Turkey it is little confusing what cay bardak to use :) Only thing is our cay kaşığı (tea spoon) is about half of the universal tsp :))
When i was children, my mamy ussualy to cook rice with spaggethi cut in small pices. We didin't had orzo in this times. Until today i make rice with spagethi. Unforttelly orzo still rare for here. Thank you for the recipe and video. :)
Thanks that dish remind me of my childhood memories and my mom used to cook that in Ramadan for souhuor 👍👌😚and she used to make her own pasta for that dish 👍👌love it
I love your copper pots here and the small copper pot that you used when making katmer. Do you purchase in Istanbul or are they available anywhere? Also, if you want to add chickpeas, how many would you add? Thank you.
