@@tilasole3252I consider my myself an above average cook but used to be intimidated by dried beans so I always used to buy precooked canned beans. But honestly though theyre actually super easy to deal with. Just have to soak em over night before boiling, Big deal. And theyre probably the cheapest way to eat. Bulk dry beans and rice youll be eating for pennies on the dollar.
TIP: to get the peas really dry (it matters) just take the collander into the bathroom and blow dry them with your hair dryer while gently scooping them around. The dryer they are the crispier they get. They will cook faster, too. Go easy on the oil. It goes a looong way and too much reverses your drying effort. Pour the dry peas into a large bowl and just season them and oil them in the bowl, stirring to get even coverage.
Just mix them together in a bowl and spread them out on the sheet pan. That way the spices and oil are evenly coated. I have created about 30ish different versions of crunchy chickpeas over the last 15 years. Trust me: mix before, then put on the sheet pan. Alternately, you can put the dried chickpeas into a ziplock bag, pour the oil and spices over them, then mix in the bag before putting on the pan to roast. Also works great in an air fryer (Or so I've been told. I don't have one).
Agreed, oil and spices don't end up evenly coating the chickpeas if its done on a baking sheet. I like to add the oil and spices to a bowl and mix well with a spoon. Then I'll add the chickpeas (or vegetables...etc) to the bowl and toss, or use a spoon or my hands to mix it. What's your favourite version of chickpeas so far?
JUST took these out of the oven. I couldn't decide which two spices to use, so I used Zaatar, Sumac, Cumin, Paprika, and Garlic powder. Not only did the house smell divine on this cold winter day, they tasted incredible!
I wanna try a lemon pepper. And a Cajun rub spice. Yum. I just bought a couple cans and can't wait to try this. Plus my olive oil is garlic infused mmmm.... I love that I could hear the crunch of the chickpea when she ate it. That was my main concern like...do they really get crispy and clearly they do! Yay! Roasted chickpeas for the win. Can't wait to try this.
Thank you for the healthy recipe. ❤ Try with some Himalayan salt. It helps to digest well. I add spices as soon as they are out from oven just to avoid the burning of spices.
I've roasted them before many times but was looking for a refresher video and my gosh this was so fun and nice to watch and love the options of spices you present :) Off to make a batch, think Za'atar and Sumac will be first :)

I drain 2 cans in a bowl and pour olive oil on them and a little butter mixed in with salt and pepper and whatever seasoning you want and put them in the air fryer. Works better for me than the oven
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you show us all how the roast chickpeas and I’m definitely going to try this out. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too. Please stay safe and well too
2 yrs late but ima deff try this💯 currently cuttin out all sugary , high sodium fake processed foods out now at 22 to be at my best form but im like damn i needa find sum healthy snacks now😂 deff gon make this soon🔥
Once the chickpeas have cooled to room temperature, transfer them to a storage container or jar. The container shouldn’t be airtight. A little air keeps them crispier for longer! They will keep in an airtight container for about 4 to 5 days.
Same, just soak them overnight, then rinse, change water and boil for about 60 min, then drain, dry and let cool. Proceed with this recipe instructions, I'm actually making a batch right now :)

before rinse it, save the cooked chickpea stock, it can be made the 'chickpea whipping cream', it's a vegan whipping cream with chickpea stock and powder sugar.
Stored properly at room temperature, they will stay fresh for about 4 to 5 days. However, keep in mind that they will lose their crispiness if you store them for that long.
Pleaseeeeeeee answer this haha. If I used fresh chickpeas, not canned how do I do this? Do I just soak overnight then in the morning drain and pat dry then put in the oven with seasoning? Also cant I use any kind of seasonings I wish?
Thank you, they all sound good. May I ask what the last one was, the Mediterranean one? My computers sound is not good and it was hard for me to understand. Thank you in advance.
I tried with air-fryer, mine turns out rubbery, solid not crunch at all. Should i soak chickpeas in water for more hours? ( i used bottle - raw- beans not canned one)
Chick pea is very nutricius its known as horse gram as well because earlier it was given to horses for their regular food .. u may try sprouts of black chickpea ,rosted and some more ways to eat.
So I have read that you should roast them with the olive oil first and then toss with spices afterwards so that the spices don't get burned and turn bitter in the oven.
It came out good and tasty. But it really pops too much inside the oven. Have to clean a lot after making this. Any tips to reduce the popping in the oven?

What I love about this is that chickpeas are dirt cheap, last forever and are healthy.
Besides how tasty they are, that's one reason I love using them in recipes too!
My S3SAME/BBQ batch is in the oven now
Dried is even cheaper
I buy the simple truth organic ones at Kroger 1.25 a can

@@Julia-tf4gi Canned. It's just easier in every way, and nutritionally, the difference is insignificant.
