    Can you use dry/raw chickpeas?

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not for this recipe. You will need to use already cookekd chickpeas - either canned or ones cooked on the stove or Instant Pot.

    We buy our chick peas from the bulk barn. They are dried but should they be put in water over night and then dry them out after they are rinsed. Should they also be cooked? If so. For how long at what temp.

      You can make this recipe with soaked but not cooked chickpeas. Chef John at the cooking YT channel Food Wishes soaks the chickpeas for 24 hours and proceeds to bake them in his oven. You would have to figure out the timing in the air fryer. You are essentially cooking the chickpeas while you’re air frying them.

    I’ll have to try these. I like crunchy things. Could you dehydrate them? Happy New Year!! I have missed you.

      Awe, thanks Judy! I'm glad to be back! I haven't tried dehydrating them. It might take awhile, but I don't see why it wouldn't work! If you try it, let me know how they turn out!

    After you make them how do you keep them crispy when you put them away they become more soft

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I put them in a paper bag, but they really don't stay crispy long. They're still good, though!

    You could use oregano garlic cumin salt paper sumac for favours or curry. For sweet pumpkin pie spice with honey or sugar( white or brown. Be careful sugar doesn’t burn perhaps after baking add the sugar. Zest lemon orange rinds as well etc etc etc.

    My attempt at roasting chic peas was a flop. When I shook them many of them fell under the crisper tray. Consequently they were not cooked evenly in air fryer.

      Take the tray out shake them half way through cooking.

    Are they heard on the teeth or is it more like popcorn ?

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! But that’s a good question. It’s kind of between popcorn and corn nuts.

  • @buckets212

    Why does this temperature of 390 degrees keep popping up on channels like this one? Why not 400 degrees? I don't get it. Is one person copying from another? Also, the variation of cooking times from one channel to another is extremely large. I just watched one video where the time was 25 minutes, while another was 10 minutes. It's hard to believe they all worked, making nice, crunchy chickpeas. I get that air fryers diffeer, but this is a very straightforward recipe. Nothing to it.

    • @opinionbytriz
      @opinionbytriz 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Exactly my question. I've heard that it also depends on where you're located on how food cooks. So maybe that's why 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I think the answer to your question is that when air fryers originally came out, many brands limited the temp to 390 degrees. It's as hot as you couuld go. Now, they are much more versatile. My current one tops out at 400 degrees. I can't answer about other recieps regarding the time it takes, but I can say I test all my recipes and only put out what works for my recipes. Thanks for your comment!

    I cannot seriously believe that you are in a clean eating journey and you are using canned chickpeas... seriously!
    Did u look at the can to see what they add to these legumes.?? Or what happens to them in the factory..
    Seriously! But a packet of chick peas.. there is no comparison health or flavor wise!
    Don’t use canned foods for anything!

    • @linus1703

      What method do you find best for prepairing dried chickpeas? I'm the same and want to avoid cans but it doesn't work out so well when air frying.
