Hey bro, first of all, Merry Christmas and Happy holidays : ) I am planning to get the blue dial variant early next year. Great review and great close-up shots! Were you wearing SBDY059 tuna in the video?
Merry Christmas to you my friend - thank you for following along right into the new year. You'll love the blue dial! Yes I am wearing the Khaki Baby Tuna on an Isofrane style strap! Good eye!!
This is one of the best review of the SPB185/7. Well edited and the shots are really eye candy. I really enjoyed this vid and watched it several times while I was waiting for my SPB187 to arrive.
Good review. I have the 187. Indeed look alike the MM300. The bezel is stainless steel coated with titanium black carbon. Looks like ceramic but won't crack, lol. Very interesting innovation.
Unfortunately the lume has something to be desired, the original MM200 with the 6r15 is the clear 🏆 winner, when it comes to the mm200 series . The extra power reserve isn't enough to surpass it in overall look and quality.
@@perpetuality I've heard that rumor but unless the information is from Seiko itself, I'm not sure I buy it. Having seen and compared many videos featuring macro footage, the Zaratsu polishing on MM300 and GS models always have two characteristics - near perfect mirror finish and incredibly sharp lines of delineation between brushed and polished sections. Unfortunately I don't see either of these characteristics with the current MM200 model. Still a beautiful watch though!
I actually reviewed the MM300 blue in a video months ago and also had it for two weeks. Gorgeous watch. I can recall that the polished surfaces on the mm300 were stunning and razor sharp, it seem much more mirror like than the MM200 especially on the underside of the mid case (more surface area thicker case). There was a Instagram post done by seikowatchofficial of the previous mm200 that stated it had zaratsu polishing. But Seiko is really nebulous about the specifics of their watch.. if that’s any thing to go by. Thanks for watching!!
Currently got an opportunity to get the blue version new for £580. Really thinking about it as I love the mm. I have the green willard and anniversary 62mas already and these Seiko divers around the 1k price mark just seem to wear like a glove. Might sell my longines conquest auto to fund this one as I wear divers most often.
Nice review! I got the blue one, yes, it's a bit pricey, but when on wrist, it looks even more expensive, excellent Zaratsu finishing, great bracelet, stunning dial.
It’s predecessor the MM200 gen 1 (SBDC061) received zaratsu polishing which was confirmed by a post on Seiko Official Instagram awhile back along with a few dealer accounts like Gnomon. The spb147 or 62mas reissue also received a zaratsu “line” on the case. It would stand to reason the new mid grade Prospex received the same treatment. It’s unfortunate Seiko doesn’t list the full specs anywhere. I should’ve made it more clear in the video. Something I intend to do next video. Thanks for watching!
@@perpetuality That would be cool, its a shame that the people who work at seiko boutiques dont know or claim it is NOT Zaratsu polished, I really can not see the difference between this and the MM300 Zaratsu line. But i will do some further reading as well. Great Video!
Not sure why Seiko couldn't still get 300m... the Omega Seamaster is 300m and still thinner. 200m is plenty though for rain or the accidental fall into the pool or lake.
I know what you mean.. part of me feels like they need to leave room for the Marinemaster line up above this watch. But I don’t think that 200m will see much use from majority of buyers haha 😆
I love the blue but i think the black dial steel and bezel will age beautifully with wear and it is a tad bit sportier in my opinion. The sunburst blue almost dresses up the watch. Id go black dial :)
Excellent review! Loving the steel bezel. The mm300 is beyond my size and price point. However if seiko ever puts a grand seiko movement in the mm200 then i would get it in a heartbeat lol
Hey, I'm 14, and this is my dream dive watch. However, I am on a budget, so I ended up buying a Seiko Padi edition Samurai (SRPB99J1). Have you reviewed this watch, and if so, what is your opinion of it?
Beautiful watch man, I think it’s a solid first choice for you. I’ve handled the watch in person and can say I wish I had larger wrists to pull it off other I’d own one. Thanks for watching!
Are these confirmed zaratsu polishing on case side? I have to be honest, i cant see the visual difference between mm300 and mm200 case. But is it confirmed?
IDK why Seiko’s still slow to make a 39mm MM300. There’s a huge market for midsize pro divers and basically nobody still makes them except for Citizen and to an extent, Tissot which doesn’t even follow ISO
Tempting. I'm the idiot with a small wrist that bought a BB Heritage, U1 and a MM300, then realised they looked plain silly. I think Tudor, Sinn and now seiko must have seen me and took pity on me and produced diminutive versions of their star watches.
San Martin watches are better finished than Seiko’s and even have a signed crown and screwed bracelet. All at 1/5th of the cost of similar Seiko’s. Can’t wait until they’ll release this model
I find in the Seiko circles nicknames are prolific and it's causes dramas no end. A MM200 It is not, Ziratsu polished it is not. For a Chinese machined case and bracelet with the Japanese made & fitted 6R35 /70hr it's fine for the money simply due to the engineering. So about the lume, no the indices are not applied but pressed in the dial, the trademark Seiko lume is still better than a $1650 00 AU MIDO Ocean Star. Some lume are designed to be brighter say 8/10 for 6 hrs or do then fade, other to last 10 hrs at 5/10 so it's horses for courses. It's still a sweet beater, I have the SPB207J LE. Cheers Johno :)
Ok...but " made in China " 🤨 or Vietnam but not in Japan !!! When you see only " japan" on the case back , the product is Not made IN Japan....only when you can read " Made in Japan" , you are sure that the watch is 100% A real !! Japonaise watch...
I hate when people obsess over signed crowns it doesnt matter and sometimes looks too tacky and too much and it's just annoying when people want it so much when especially seiko already knows about the modding community and doesnt like it so they think people will just make a fake signed crown anyway Seiko isnt stupid... Whyre you disappointed theres 4 micro adjusts? Who bloody needs more then that? Lmao that's about as long as a full link would be so anyone can find their fit but too much looks too much anyways, 4 is perfectly fine
Can’t make everyone happy and Seiko knows that. Someone in the modding community is bound to make or fit a signed crown to their MM200. To each his own in the way he/she wants his watch
One or two more micro adjustment can be the difference of being able to wear the watch from some folks blessed with wrist real estate lol. We are talking a hulk of a human. (Not me but I get the logic, it’s a great bracelet and deserves to be worn)

I firmly believe this one of the best looking dive watches ever made
This is one of the best review of the SPB185/7. Well edited and the shots are really eye candy. I really enjoyed this vid and watched it several times while I was waiting for my SPB187 to arrive.
Did you end up getting the watch? Thank you for the comment btw!!
@@perpetuality yes! It’s one of the best watches in the collection.
I don't know why this wasn't recommended to me until today, but as always your growth is palpable :) Keep it up!
As always thank you for following my content my friend!
Awaiting delivery of the 185 steel version.. I just love the look and quite different than any Seiko I own, or brands for that matter. Nice review.
That is a great choice, it stands as a watch on its own with the steel bezel! enjoy and thank you for watching Michael
I don't think that's ziratsu polishing - but I could be wrong. Great review.
No....it's not zaratsu polishing but Chinese polishing yes !!😁
The polished seems got distortion shadow that's not zaratzu polish!!
The MM300 has the polishing, the MM200 does not.
Good review. I have the 187. Indeed look alike the MM300. The bezel is stainless steel coated with titanium black carbon. Looks like ceramic but won't crack, lol. Very interesting innovation.
The steel bezel put me over and I picked up the 185 last week.
Have a great Christmas and thank you for the great content! Just caught the watch roll in the edge of the shot. See you in the New Year.
Thanks for watching my good friend! Yes love the roll! hope to do a video with it as a center piece soon in the new year. Chat soon!
Good review showing the watch proper.
This watch looks wat better on you than the mm300 (because of the wrist/watch ratio). Great video as always.
Really appreciate the comment. You’re right and I am surprised to say the mm300 was very comfortable despite being a larger heavier watch
Great great review, by the way where did you get thee ring pictured in your vid ??
Thank you! It is from clocks and colours
Awesome review brother. Amazing looking watch.
Great review, i really cant make up my mind between the SPB143 & the SPB187
The popular choice is the SPB143 but the SPB187 has such a nice case that I think is a cut above the SPB143! Just my two cents
I also checked these in a store here in Tokyo. I like the steel bezel insert but the price... I wouldn’t pay
Seiko is moving on with or without us it seems. They are serious about moving up market
They can now be picked up for nearly half the rrp. I’m really tempted but love my blumo and I’m not sure if this would have the same tool/beater feel
Unfortunately the lume has something to be desired, the original MM200 with the 6r15 is the clear 🏆 winner, when it comes to the mm200 series . The extra power reserve isn't enough to surpass it in overall look and quality.
The finishing on this watch is superb making it look more expensive. 👌
Finishing on the highly polished bevels of the MM200 doesn't look quite like it's up to Zaratsu's standards. Are you sure it's Zaratsu?
From my knowledge the newer prospex like the 62MAS re-issue and the MM200 get zaratsu treatment. The same as the previous MM200

That's a great deal! Just wondering if you could share which dealer offered you that deal?
Thank you! Keep doin these lovely reviews. We want more 😊
Thank you!! will be putting out more content in the new year!
Great video bro!
Thanks buddy 😀
Great video! Just subbed 👍🏻
Much appreciated man! 😃🙌
@@perpetuality Likewise, enjoy your Seiko reviews!
I want the SBDC061 with the 6R35! Still prefer this look.
great content bro keep up!
Thanks for watching!
Nice review! I got the blue one, yes, it's a bit pricey, but when on wrist, it looks even more expensive, excellent Zaratsu finishing, great bracelet, stunning dial.
That's not ziratsu polish there are distortion shadow on polished area!!😜
Nice review mate. These are belting watches. High price though huh? I’d go with the steel bezel variant if I had to pick one. 👌👍
I think you make a great point the steel is such a cool looking watch
I've got a silver bezel just like that on my skx007😀
Are you sure that is zaratsu polished?

I’m so torn, going back and forth between the two! It’s crazy, have t found any in the secondary market either!!
What size is your wrist ?

Which one would u choose? The black or blue dial ? :)

Oh man you and me included. I’d pay the premium to have a smaller grand seiko based mm200 any day!
Check out the SLA055. I think that's what you asked for.

Sorry if I'm not wrong that's not ziratsu polish from your video i see polished area got distortion shadow!!😜
wow.. why haven't i heard about this. I think this is more interesting than SBDC101 / SPB143
I would have to agree!
Are these confirmed zaratsu polishing on case side? I have to be honest, i cant see the visual difference between mm300 and mm200 case. But is it confirmed?
Yes they have zaratsu polished lines, it’s the same with the previous mm200 as well. It’s very subtle
Seiko SPB185 vs SPB143????
IDK why Seiko’s still slow to make a 39mm MM300. There’s a huge market for midsize pro divers and basically nobody still makes them except for Citizen and to an extent, Tissot which doesn’t even follow ISO
If you're diving you best not be unscrewing the crown

the fact that the lume barely holds a couple of hours ruins the potential of this watch
Looking good but the real deal is the MarineMaster 600
Hmm to the eye it looks much thicker than the SPB077
It is thinner-And feels that way on the wrist too
The moviment is totally inadequate for the price
❤i love it but the price is not worth it

I've got to check them out myself. Thanks for the recommendation!
The hour markers are NOT applied. They are stamped like every other Seiko dial. Jesus man
Yeah this was mentioned by another viewer, sans jesus lol
