Beautiful watch. I was aiming to acquire the MM300 but I think this piece might be more versatile (and affordable!). My guess is the titanium black carbon is actually TiC, aka titanium carbide, another kind of ceramic. The typical ceramic bezel material in the watch world is cubic zirconia, which is actually less scratch resistant than TiC. If true, then the bezel on this bad boy is even more scratch resistant than the standard ceramic bezel; and because the bezel itself is steel, it's also A LOT more impact resistant than standard zirconia ceramic bezels.
@@pistolpete023 interesting. Tks, bro. Hope we get more info from seiko. Appreciate seiko innovations. In the LX LE divers, there are 2 versions of Cermet bezels, which is a mixture of ceramic and precious metals. It's getting more and more interesting. That's what l enjoy most of seiko.

Just got a new Spd187j1 here in the UK. Perfectly aligned bezel and 2 seconds deviation in first 30 hours. Very happy and 30% off list - guess end of line. Paid £742 ($880). Bit heavy at 185g but beautifully made. Just wished the bezel was 42mm to align with the 42mm case. My first Seiko. Highly recommended

Glad to hear you're upgrading your collection, that is the way younger collectors should go:) This 200m MM on blue looks quite nice, better than the MM 300 I bought a decade ago, which was quite a disappointed when I received it. Very slim and thin bracelet against the case thickness/width, very light with a horrible clasp. I was glad to see an upgraded version on the sbdc051, found a mint pre-owned and pulled the trigger immediately. Your blue here has similar features and it's blue dial is simply stunning. Thank you for one more great review, this is definitely a watch to consider buying in the near future.
I'm not done with seiko but am trying to save up now to upgrade to a 62mas. Luckily seiko is hooking me up with one of these beauties so that helps. which one I actually dont know yet. I'll find out in a month.

Owned the mm300. I can say the mm200 is the better option. Reason being the unique case shape of the mm300 and its movement will be pain in the arse to get it serviced.

I would like to ask you a question, is it possible for you to attach the rubber strap of the 62mas or the Willard to this model? I'm not sure if it would fit properly as the holes appear to be too close to the outside edge. If not don't worry, I know it's a brand new watch from Kavar. Btw the list price over here is 1.250,00 EUR. Having two of the new Era Seikos myself, I think the price is absolutely ok for what they offer. Have a great Sunday and I'm looking forward to the Seiko vids to come this month.

8:00 the bezel insert is made of aluminium, not ceramic. It was stated on Seiko boutique website from France. No way that the Willard and 62MAS reinterpretations (same movement and price range as this one) don't have ceramic bezel insert but this one does. Not sure if it has some kind of coating though.
I was just told its steel this morning. I'm waiting for one more contact to confirm. Seiko says steel with titanium black carbon coating

The only thing I wish Seiko would do is put an orange accent at the end of the minute hand so it’s immediately identifiable. The minute hand is the most important hand on a dive watch. They had a coloured minute hand on the PADI Prospex Solars.
Just had a look at both reference numbers, and the only difference I noticed, was about $200.
$1200 VS. $1400. Both appear to be "J" models, but I see no physical differences between them. Still, for the price, I think they should have used the MM300 clasp, instead of the one with the lousy extension.
I see that but a brand new MM clasp with the Ti and SS ratchet adjustable is like $60-$80 new on eBay

In the intro, l thought you are talking about me, lol. The, 62MAS, Willard, and, now this. Three awesome reinterpretations. I got this too. Very different blue indeed, lovely. The finishing is serious for a fun watch. It cannot replace the MM300, but, nice for the boss to have a little brother. They do look similar.
Btw, bro, the King Seiko reissue which we spoke of, will be out next month. 6L35 Movement. 38 × 11.4mm. Like the vintage 44 9990, it also has a 2mm protruding glass. Not considering that, it's less than 10mm tk. Finished to GS std. The big dial and protruding glass gives it fantastic wrist presence, similar to the 57GS.
How not to buy seiko anymore? I need another watch box. 🤣
I think I'm getting the new KING SEIKO for review. hope so! Yes at the end I said it doesn't replace mm300. It just cant. mm300 has a vibe about it that is unmatched.

On the previous version, case was 44mm but the bezel was 41mm which helped it wear smaller. Did you measure the bezel too?!

I have all the new seikos. this week will be seiko week. :P yes in my mm200 i measured the bezel at 41mm. we call it here the secret measurement. tomorrow on the spb185 we do it.
Thinking about purchasing this piece still confused with the or the baby snow flake wondering how long will a movement on the marine master reduced will last
any 7S26, 4R36, 6R15, 6R35 should run you 7-10 years before needing a service it is a low beat so less wear and tear

I can get both at same price. I like the dial, lume on Seiko and bracelet and overall quality in Mido.
Which one will you suggest?
I have never had the Mido Ocean Star in hand but if its like the rest of swatch group products you will enjoy it.

I think it would look fine, it wears more like a 40mm because the case is wider than the bezel.
wears great. from a far looking at it from a mirror might even look a tad small on our size wrist. its perfect.

I like the 4 o clock crown and the chevron style 12 oclock marker. Theyre both pretty cool though.
7 inches so I think I would do ok with the 187. Is the blue of the dial(187) darker or lighter than how it appears on videos. Looking forward to the comparison videos. Keep up the great exposure you provide to those of us who don’t get the opportunity to see these watches in person.

yes totally different hue of blue. Blue willard is a richer azure blue. The mm200r has a admiral blue look to it.

a slight similarity but GBH is more lighter blue and transitions to black.

Excellent video as always Falling Titan. I was really looking forward to you getting the new MM on on channel and even more excited to see an SBS review with the SPB185 as I'm really considering buying one but cant make my mind up regarding the colours. I think the steel bezel on the 185 looks so crisp against the black dial but then the understated blue on the 187 is also beautiful. Side by side might make my decision easier but curious to see which of the 2 you prefer in the end..esp as I know you're a fan of blue dials:-)

blue willard is my favourite of those. it grows on you and at first thought it was too blue...but now after a month its perfect. but really all 3 are amazing no wrong choice. enjoy!

I think I’m shifting towards the spb143 due to versatility and I’m still on the fence with green Willard, to me, I think green is more unique than blue which is why I may go for it. MM. almost 49mm lug to lug. Willard 46mm. so the mm will fit you better....and probably still look a bit small/perfect.

I hate Seiko, I was so confident to buy the SPB143. Then I saw the SPB185 and I am confused which one to buy.
love them both but I am not a watch collector, so I only have one watch at a time and not sure which style I prefer more (Think I will have some sleepless nights :D )
Would be great when you compare these two watches and the good thing, I have the same wrist size so it is perfect to see how it looks on my wrist ;)
Oh and a comparison with the measurement of the bezel and the dial would be great!

yes if your a swiss fan. I recommend to check reddit watchexchange 2-3 bb58s go up for sale basically new almost EVERY day. Im guessing they look great on camera and fall flat in real life hype train. $3100-3500 average price. blue ones as well. I'm getting a bb58 into the channel to review. the ultimate 1953 sub homage!

@@EscapementWatch I think the bezel insert is metal. If you could somehow include this watch in your next video on a rubber strap it would be great. Nobody has shown it on a rubber yet. I think the MM300 rubber would look great on it .....

I love this watch. The only complaint that I have about it is that it feels too small compared to my Turtles and Sumos. I feel it would be perfect (for me) at 44/45mm instead of 42mm. There might be a MM300 SLA059 in my future.
It's ok to have a smaller watch in the collection. You might start liking them smaller!

Seiko USA does not have any 149s (based on an enquiry a day ago). The AD may be trading with other ADs.

The 6R35 runs about 45 seconds fast a day. That’s a huge let down on watches 1k+. The way you timed it is 1 position... 6R sucks man
I do not have time to check 6 positions in video. all my 6R's have been doing very well. my blue willard check my reivew i did 2 positions. 1 month later still 0s/day. so everyone is going to get different results these are not regulated from factory so you need to be lucky. but urs is way out of spec. send it back.

I agree , i sold my 149 twice and 143. All three ran fast aging crazy seconds. Big Seiko fan as I own all the top dogs currently. The 037, 039, 043 and all my mm200 twilight blue, green gilt and blue hole which use the 6 R15 run dam good. The 6R35 is really not regulated at all. A nice Seiko and I love many but if it gains 30 -40 it’s not worth it. Seiko is getting more unregulated movements out because it simply make to many watches at all price points and they are actually proud that many with the 6R35 accuracy is awful.
Wears gloves, then proceeds to drop and scratch bracelet on scale and desk. For phuks sake can you get a phuking pad on the phuking desk? Other than that, loved the review.

I'm done with Seiko seriously! I've been buying micros like Zelos Axios Spinnaker and Phoibos and they offer so much more value. Yes, Seiko has history but I don't care ill take a well-speced watch that uses Sapphire! Hear that Seiko? Nevertheless, the MM watches are nice I will say that...

@@EscapementWatch I put a drop or two of dry teflon lub (for bike chains) on my Seiko 5, it loosened up very well. the spb187 loosened up a bit. i think the issue for me with the 187 is it is very difficult to get a decent purchase on the bezel to turn it - which sucks. i will try warm water and soap next on the 187. thanks

I sold my 149 for a 62mas. and my spb185 has ha spb187 bezel on it. see my instagram. and i might future modified it in the future to look like a mm300. If I do i'll show a video on it.
seiko is over saturating their diver selection.. meanwhile, their chronograph selection is lacking.
Well they did discontinue the old MM200 this one is replacing it. I got official word from seiko. SBDC061 ETC all discontinued.
what are u talking about? seiko ruin their best product sbdx001 by making it expensive as hell with cheap ceramic and non massive steel, even the clasp is no more titan! back to smaller wrist, mm300 is 44mm this one is on each site for now on only 1mm smaller! its STILL to big for smaller wrist! dont be mad at me... just tellin the truth

This is no marinemaster a baby lx maybe. Would have been perfect with skx007 dimensions.
