    You should all get out of your vehicle and do rock, paper, scissors to determine who goes first. Then the remaining 2 do it again to see who goes second.

      No, when there are only two cars, the trafic rules apply.
      But they are 3 persons. The rules for rock, paper, scissors doesn't work so well for three. And if they play it two at a time, which two starts?
      No, better to fool the two others to step out of their cars to play, and then you drive. Problem solved!

    1 The red car. Because the red car is on a wider road than the other two and main roads take precedence over secondary roads. Another rule that applies is that a car entering a zone takes precedence over those cars leaving it (the white and blue cars are inside next to the building). In case the three roads are of the same relevance and in a similar location, the car that stopped first has the priority and then the car to the right goes second.

      The law only mentions that for uncontrolled roads one has to yield to the right. No matter the size of the road, car or ego.
      Part of the responsibility here is with the road designer. It looks like an access road and two roads that go around a block. If so the two roads around should be one way. No more conflicts.

    I chose #4, because I was taught that most rules of the road are institutionalized politeness. So when in doubt it's better to be polite than "righf you look at the situation very carefully, you'll notice that the front end of the blue car is actually at the intersection while the other two are are a half-car back from it, using their entry roads as the metric. So so rationally, the blue car being "there first" should go first, then the white, then red.
    That's the way that many drivers think. But from experience I'd yield to the white sports coupe, because the driver is more likely to be younger, more aggressive, less predictable. That's defensive driving, not DVM driving.

    If you unravel this knot a bit, you will see that all three cars may make a "tangent turn". This is legal as far as I know at least in some states. To make a "tangent turn" pass to the left of the vehicle instead of crossing in frount and then turning left. To visualize this easier, imagine each car in the picture shifted to the left of the road. Then they simply take a left turn. Of course it would not be legal to start from this visualized position, but you get the idea. Using the tangent turn, there is no need for any order to be considered.

    I live in Rhode Island. Unless there is a stop light, traffic can only move by consensus regardless of who has a stop sign or who got their first. It's not the law, just the custom. Providence RI in particular has a plethora of two way streets that are too narrow for two cars to pass each other at the same time, so drivers are conditioned to working everything out with each other nearly all the time. Of course, that doesn't mean that some people can be jerks once in a while.

    It seems to me that the blue car us right at the intersection and so should go first however, it is such an uncertain situation that common agreement is likely the best approach. I personally would yield to the other 2 cars.

      all such questions should also mention the country in which it happens.
      where i live (germany, but also other countries in europe), most smaller streets have no signs (and "4way stop" is completely unknown), and "right before left" applies to all those small crossings, with no stop needed or watching for who came or stopped (which is not needed, or even could be seen as giving up on the right to go before cars from the left) first. in a situation like this, drivers have to find a solution by giving up THEIR OWN "right from coming from the right" and indicate to the car on their left that it may pass. they should and can not wave the car on their right since that one has a right of way anyway and it would cause confusion, but they only can give up on their own right of way.
      in this specific case, the blue one would probably let the white pass first since the road at the red car is widest and thus this would allow the fastest way to clean up the crossing. next then legally would be the red one (coming from the right of the blue one), but that driver might wave and yield to the blue one since the white would be gone and thus it would be easiest for the blue to enter an empty street, with the red going last and thus then also being able to quickly enter an empty street. if the drivers are no selfish jerks, white/blue/red would be the fastest way, although there is no law who goes first, and legally red could go before blue (after white has left).

  • @jamesalles139

    It is a matter of waving, whoever waves someone else on first will get waved back at to go. Then you go, even though you waved someone else on.

    These cars are all turning left. I have seen drivers change their turn signals to get out of situations sometimes. If it is on a 2-lane road, such as in a town or other small rural area, often times, someone will change their turn signal, and thus will either move first or last.

  • @ABC1701A
    @ABC1701A ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting. From where I am the road markings would largely determine which cars go, because two of these roads are likely to be more commonly used than the third. So if the road markings show that the red road continues around into the blue road then red would have the right of way because blue would be considered a continuation of red. Blue would go next then white (hard for me to translate as we drive on the left). If it was a country lane without markings then again the roads would probably show signs of which was the continuation - and there would be road signs to tell drivers as well even if the roads themselves aren't marked - but otherwise you would go my mutual agreement. However while the intersection itself might not have signs/markings here there would have been signs in the run up to the intersection telling you which way the road continues and which is the side-turning and thus a more minor road.
    Interesting to see how rules differ in other countries.
    Greetings from Ireland.

    Common agreement is paramount of course but there is also one element of priority here. The intersection is not equal from all three directions. The red car is on an seemingly wider incoming lane to some place, while the blue car is moving inide the same sort of compound. I think the red incoming car should yield passage and then the blue car take precedence to the white car. Once the blue car is through then it is clearthe white ougoing car is next. The red incoming car needs to allow any outgoing cars to free space inside the place where it is going.

  • @legionaireb
    @legionaireb ปีที่แล้ว

    Typically it would be whichever car arrived at the intersection first, then would proceed clockwise, but it sounds like there is no clear first arrival here. In that circumstance, the answer would be 4) By Common Agreement.

    Unless it's the one in a million odds that everyone pulled up to the line at the same time, whoever was first to the line. If it is the odds, then perhaps who is doing what, someone going to work vs the store vs vacation gets priority. It could also where the road they are on comes from. A busy highway vs store vs residential street?

      Yes i have. From The blue cars perspectives, the red car is on the right side. And the white car is comming from the right side of the”Y” intersection. You have to look at The intersection as a “Y”. That’s important. So as i said. Whit, red. And blue😊

    Red, White then Blue. The Red car sees 45 degrees in either direction -- that constitutes a fork. The other cars see 90 degrees in one direction and 45 degrees in the other. Those constitute left or right turns. Therefore, the Red car goes first. Then the White car to it's right and so forth.

    Not 100% sure but,nearly sure: Keeping the FLOW of traffic in the main road establishes priority; Red car goes first. Then the car that is not in but about to access the main road, white car, last the car that is going from a branch road to another branch road.

    While the answer given is how it is decided, the white and blue cars should really consider their entrance to the intersection as having implied yield signs due to the building obstructing their view of the other roads. The red car is the only one with an unobstructed view of all three roads, and therefore should have right of way. Properly mark the intersection and place yield signs in front of the white car and the blue car.
