All lessons and examples of traffic situations with cars and pedestrians, as well as road signs are presented according to the Laws and Rules of the Road and different state driver handbook.
For new drivers as well as experienced drivers, these videos are useful tools for understanding the process of getting a license and learning the rules of the road. Canada.
All tests are based on facts from the official driver's manual. Tests include all U.S. states:
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland,

To make it illegal for the red car to turn right I would expect the proper road sign that forbids right turn rather than the uncommon arrow to mandate to continue straight. This intersection makes no sense at all.

Sorry but both cars are breaking the rules. Red car as explained in the video. Green car as it has its turn signal to turn left at the first intersection. S/he should not turn it on until after the intersection.

Wrong. You should put your turn signal on up to 300 feet before the turn. The distance to his intended turn is less than 300 feet. At highway speeds 1000 feet is not too soon.

Nonsens because the trafficsign is not regular! It should show a disk with a red band around and in the white of the disk an arrow indicating “turn to the right” with a black band over the arrow. That is the official sign.

The green Mercedes has a left signal on, prior to the first intersection. It correctly obeys the road sign and drives straight through - but signalling left at this early stage is potentially misleading to oncoming traffic. Drivers may think this car is about to illegally turn left and they could swerve or break sharply - which could cause an accident. Instead, the Mercedes driver should wait to signal until there is no danger of confusion.

    • @mikebarron5805

@@mikebarron5805 I disagree. The purpose of signalling is to clearly inform other road users what you intend to do. If you signal your intention to turn and there are roads you can turn into prior to the one you intend to take, your signal is ambiguous and potentially misleading. Rules about signalling a set distance prior to a turn assume there is only one place you can turn, within that distance; this is a case where those rules can't be safely applied. Sure, you need to signal in plenty of time - and you can do this, by slowing down - like you should do anyway, in this scenario. Within 300 ft of an intersection where you intend to turn left or right, you should not be travelling at more than 15-20 mph. That will allow plenty of time to signal at the right time, when it makes your intention clear.

@@mikebarron5805 However long you've been driving, and training Emergency Vehicle drivers, you can still cause an accident if you make an ambiguous signal, which another road user misinterprets. My relevant experience is this; I've witnessed a serious accident in which a truck driver did this very thing. He was approaching a major intersection, put a signal on early, and crashed into a car that was emerging from a side road, about 200 ft before the exit the truck was actually heading for. The trucker's signal make the car driver think it was safe to move out - but it wasn't! I'm not a driving instructor, but I've known one for many years; and he confirmed my understanding of current views on the matter. If you make misleading, early signals like this on your driving test, you'll fail. And so you should.

In the scenario that you offered the truck driver had the right of way, it was the car drivers responsibility to wait till the truck completes whatever maneuver regardless of any signals it was displaying. The car driver was at fault in any investigators report.
As for your last statement, there isn't a Driving Manual or drivers license test in the USA that mentions ambiguous signals or when not to use turn signals.

I chose both cars because the green car has its turn signals on at the first intersection, indicating a left turn there, which is a violation in some jurisdictions (signaling a turn you don't take - could be considered inattentive driving, for example). That driver should turn on the turn signal after he or she is well into the intersection or beyond it.

I vote 3) Both because the sign means straight only. But it's unclear if that sign if just for the right lane or both lanes. In cases like this, arrows are painted on the road and signs are strung overhead. Plus, a yield sign under a traffic signal makes no sense. It's also unclear if this is crossing a divided highway and whether or the far left turn is allowed. So, as with a lot of your scenarios, this intersection is just very poorly marked and so the fault lies mainly with the drugs that the road engineer was on when he designed this intersection, rather than either car driver. A decent lawyer could get either of these drivers out of their tickets just by presenting the image of this intersection from your video to the judge.

This is a trick question. Both cars will break the rules and here is why. At the first intersection we see the horizontal roadway is a one-way street with traffic flowing from right to left, which is why the red car cannot turn right into oncoming traffic. The second intersection is also a one-way street as denoted by the white line partially obscured by the tree/bush. One-way streets are NEVER 'stacked' with two one-way streets going the same direction within a block of each other, they alternate back and forth each block which means that since the first block is going right to left, the second block is going left to right meaning the green car cannot make a left-hand turn into oncoming traffic.
The majority of your videos include make-believe scenarios and situations and I pray that I never encounter anyone who has learned to drive by watching them.
