You brilliantly managed to fix your rocks painting Adam. I would surmise the reason the Leopard spots technique you tried gave you mehh results : you replicated Lachlan's technique to the T. Problem is, he didn't show or didn't do the necessary prep step of that technique : you're supposed to wet the plaster beforehand. If you don't, your wash immediately gets sucked in by the plaster and you can't really blend the washes together. Plus, don't be shy and try other colors than the ones he did, using coordinated warm palettes (red, yellow, brown) or cold ones (blue, green, purple) gives nicer results. Great board anyway !
Cool thanks so much for the tips! Always more to learn 😁
I salute you for doing an area of Middle Earth that everyone else keeps neglecting! Well done too! Stunning detail.
Thanks buddy! There are so many cool locations in Middle Earth that just don't get the love they deserve! Thanks so much for watching 😊
@@dicedrinksanddadjokesAnd a heartfelt yes to posting battle reports on top of this gorgeous terrain!
@@dartmart9263 cool man im keen just have to paint up a Harad army 😊
That board is INCREDIBLE! I'd love to see you do a battle report on it.
Awesome thanks so much! I'm definitely keen to film a bat rep on it one of these days 😁
Seconded!
Same ! 😁
Great work Adam! Battle Report incoming?
Masterwork build. That crumbled tower is absolutely bada$$. Well done
Thank you so much! 😁
Beautiful board, you should be very proud. FWIW to avoid damage on the dining table you can also glue a rubber mat to the underside of your board, I bought a roll from Para Rubber in NZ, that was pretty cheap, but Bunnings or Mitre10 might also have something off the shelf.
Yeah that's a good idea. Nice tip. Thanks for watching Ben! 😁
Videos using massive amounts of plastic crack are awesome and awe inspiring. But videos like this are nice and realistic. They feel like a better resource for the average hobbyist :)
Great work!
Thanks so much! I still hold out hope that one day someone might send me a mountain of plastic though haha 😅
@@dicedrinksanddadjokes Good luck with that!
But tbh, with how crafty you are, I think a 3d printer might not be a bad investment, can clone as many buildings as you want that way :)?
I'm back to MESBG after an absence of 15 years. Absolutely loving your content. To see a battle/skirmish played out on that amazing board would be awesome.
Yussss! I was like that too! My first intro to tabletop wargaming was MESBG and it feels so great coming back to it, like returning home! 😁
This is absolutely one of the most beautiful boards I have ever seen. Wow man... I am just stunned...
Wow thanks so much for the kind words! 😊
What a brilliant board! That collapsed tower looks amazing!
Thank you! The collapsed tower is my favourite part by far 😊
This is exactly the kind of content that I love to see. Using the game system to explore parts of Middle Earth that didn't get "camera time" in the novels or films. Excellent work!
Thanks buddy, appreciate that 😊
Looks so good, glad the sealant set properly.
Thanks man!
Absolutely amazing. Really looking forward to seeing it up close in a battle report!
Thanks Jesse! It'll happen I just need to paint up a Harad force!
I've been in love with anything related to lord of the rings terrain for ages, and this is one of the best tables I've ever seen, thank you!
Wow, thank you! High praise indeed 😊
Possibly one of the coolest board concepts going!
Kudos Adam
Thank you very much James! Appreciate that!
man what a beautiful board, wish i had the space to build a board like this.
Thanks buddy, yeah space for storing things like this is a big issue 😞
That second crack at the rocks looks amazing, really sells the desert look with those striations
Thanks Ross! Yeah I was pretty happy with how they turned out 😊
Epic board Adam! Always love the level of how to and budget friendly content you provide.
Can't wait to see some battles on the board!
Thanks so much Robert! Appreciate the support 😊
Amazing board, that fallen tower really takes the cake!
Thanks Tom!
Man the board is awesome, the ruined tower is definitely the best use of that kit I've seen, just awesome
Thanks so much, very kind! The collapsed tower is definitely my favourite part of the board 😊
“It still has some hearty plant life scratching out of a harsh existence.” Love your videos Adam! It’s lines like this one that show just how much care you put into each one!
Thanks Mark! I appreciate that mate 😊
So many great parts to this video. The main thing I love is your blending of plastic and plaster cast pieces. For one it looks great but it’s also a great way for us normal non zorpazorp people to get a full table worth of terrain without selling a kidney. Great job mate this one was worth the wait!!
Thanks mate! Yeah that was the brief. I really do like the challenge of working with limited materials, the constraints really narrow your focus. Of course that being said I wouldn't say no to a mountain of plastic 🤣🤣
Those cliffs turned out amazing. Great stuff Adam!
Thank you so much Simon! 😊
the repaint on the rocks looks gorgeous! it's extremely well done and definitely fits great, the overall look of the board is amazing so very well done!
Thanks a bunch!
I like the location you chose for the board. We rarely get to see the deserts of Middle-Earth so its interesting to see how the models and terrain look there. Great result!
Thanks! There are so many cool locations in Middle Earth that just don't get much love. Umbar is another cool area I'd like to explore.
@@dicedrinksanddadjokes Oh! Yeah, that is another. I remember that they made rules for ship combat at some point and the main book has rules for swimming. Umbar and the coastal area of Gondor would be interesting area for games.
This is such a cool concept, and the amount of dedication you put into it really shows.
Harad Vs Gondor please on this board!
Thanks buddy! I really need to paint up a Harad army now haha!
Hi, great board ! For the rock painting, sealing with Mod Podge after the black wash could help, as well as a light grey drybrush to merge the colours together.
Thanks buddy! Yeah its funny because I usually seal after the black wash. I watched a Woodland Scenics tutorial that said to seal before the black wash so I thought I'd give it a go. Ah well lesson learnt! Cheers for watching 😊
This is fantastic! Really well done, love the idea of the collapsed tower, genius!
Thank you very much! 😁
Truly an epic board!
Cheers mate thanks!
Table looks great! Absolutely film some battle reports on here - it'd be a crime not to have a Mumakil rampage through there!
Haha thanks buddy my thoughts exactly! It will happen eventually 😁
Fabulous table!!! I would definitely like to see battle reports on this table! Hard work pays off! Great job!
Thanks Mark! 😊
Good stuff, great board. And yes, a battle report on this table would be marvelous.
Thank you so much mate!
Brilliant work Adam, I think battle reports are a must.
Righto I'll get onto them! 😁
The old set of LOTR terrain from 2004 has a special place in my heart, and seeing videos like this all these years later warms my bones. Great result mate, you might not have had a mountain of plastic but you absolutely made more with less
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I love that old kit. The flagstones are gorgeous. Thanks for watching 😁
One of my favorite boards of all time. Looks incredible and I hope to make something similar one day. Hope this vid does extremely well because you have created a real work of art for it. Thanks man, This was Great!!
Thanks so much Kenny!!! Appreciate the kind words 😊
Beautiful table! A trick I use for undulations, prior to the Sculptamold phase, is to put down some original Gorilla Glue (the ochre stuff) and spritz it with water and allow it to cure overnight. You'll end up with fantastic semi-random shapes that are quite resilient and the Sculptamold can be set around them to make them appear like natural rises in the terrain. (Impractical for rank and flank boards, but great for skirmish boards.)
Also I spent a while trying to figure out when you said "there are no mistakes, only lizards" (10:10) wondering "lizards? What? Where is this going?" I realize now its "lessons," but still, lizards would also be sweet.
Haha got to watch for those lizards in the desert! That’s a good tip with the glue. Polyurethane right? So it foams up. Dries solid too. Cheers for watching mate 😊
Incredible work! I love that ruined tower.
Thanks Michael! 😊
Fantastic work! Would be thrilled to see some battle reports on this board!
Thanks Chris! 😁
This is so cool and a great inspiration! Thank you for the making of!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such an amazing board man! I'll have to swing by next time im heading north for a game on it! Stellar work
Yeah man keeeeeen! Good luck for this weekend mate!
Great looking table. I hope we do get to see it in action.
Thank you!!! I am planning to film some bat reps on it eventually 😁
Awesome stuff Adam, looks great! This is a video that will keep on giving, so many great tips and techniques! Well done bro
Thanks Andy! Hopefully we can have a match up on the board at league finals this year! And double hopefully I won't kill your assassination target for you this time 🤣
This board turned out really great!
Thank you!
That’s a lovely board!!! Can’t wait to see what you do next
Thanks so much! 😊
Wonderful. Can’t wait to see a batrep on it.
Thanks buddy!
Great looking board! And you gotta love Gondor dedication to their aesthetics! They preffered to haul all this grey stone to build their outpost straight from Gondor rather than use local brown stone... Marvelous feat of Gondorian logistics! :D
Haha they were rather amazing civil engineers 🤣
Great work Adam, the board looks amazing! It would be great to see what you would do with a mountain of free scenery kits (hint hint GW)
Thanks buddy! Oh wouldn't that be nice! 🤣
Great Work! And of course we want see some battle reports!
Thank you!
This is excellent!! And so inspirational too. It's made me think about which areas of Middle-Earth I'd create if I had the space.
I'd probably go for Ithilien, which I've always imagined to be like those Arcadian landscape paintings
As always your videos are really funny and entertaining. I can't wait to see more!
Thanks so much! I've had a really rough 2 weeks at work and getting comments like this really means a lot to me. I truly appreciate it, thanks! 😊
It looks really good. I think you got quite far on that board with the amount of terrain you had. It shows that lots of kits are cool, but not nesessary. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much!
The table looks even better in the video than it did in the photos you posted on Facebook 😮 would love to see this board at an NZMEL event (once I can finally get to one 😅). Wicked work - keep it up 👌🏻
Thanks Casey! Yeah it'll be doing the rounds for sure, I'll be taking it down to League Finals in Wellington so make sure you get down for that one!
That's a great board with good techniques. You might want to try painting your polystyrene with gesso, you can even mix it with cheap acrylic artist paint. It toughens everything up.
Great tip thanks!
Honestly the chalkyness on the rocks doesn't look half bad as a great man one said "Just a happy little accident"
Yeah I did actually think it looked a bit like quartz which would have actually worked haha
Beautiful board and really well explained!
Thank you very much!
Such a beautiful board Adam! Seeing the WIP was truly special, can't wait to see some battle reports on it 🙂
I'm inspired, but I need to figure some storage solutions in my garages to make epic boards like this 🤔 what are the chances of my fiancée noticing her exercise bike being gone? 😂
Thanks Jake! I don't reckon she'll notice, either way my philosophy has always been that its easier asking for forgiveness than permission haha!
Amazing work, Beautiful board. first battle baptism needs to be Haradrim vs Gondorians.
Thanks buddy! Yeah I’m keen! Just need to paint up a Harad army haha 😅
Love this board, you’ve done a great j9b. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much Andy! 😁
This is an awesome Board! Please more Videos like this :)
Thank you!! More to come!
It would be great to see a battle report on this table!
Thanks buddy!
literally your best work. this is amazing!
Glad you think so! Cheers 😁
I got into mesbg terrain building by watching all of your videos. I love all the content. Please keep it up!!
Thanks Alex! I will absolutely 😁
One of the best Middle Earth tables I've ever seen! Inspiring work, thanks for sharing!
Wow, thank you!
Incredible work on this board, really inspiring. I'll be using some of these techniques for the Necromunda Ash Wastes board I'm currently working on.
Cool thanks mate! Glad it can be if use 😁
What amazes me most about your channel (independently of the amazing boards and all the other content you produce) how few subs you have, you deserve way more!
greetings from the Netherlands 💪
Wow, thank you so much! Oh well, spread the word haha and maybe one day! 😅 Hallo from NZ!

This board is insane! One of the best hobby videos I've watched in a long time.
Wow, thanks!
As a harad player, I would very much like several battle reports on this stunning board! Well done bud 🙌
Thanks a ton! They’ll be coming I just need to paint up a Harad army haha
This deserves more than 4000 views
Thanks mate, fingers crossed haha!
Watched a lot of board build videos over the years but absolutely love the look of this one. It’s brilliant!
Thank you so much, that’s very kind! 😊
Locals using hirst arts molds was a corner stone when I first started, but seems like theres so many more durable and lighter plastic options, plaster terrain is from a bygone era. But your ruins brought me right back to then. The finished result is fantastic.
Thanks so much for the kind words 😊
This is gorgeous
Thanks! 😁
I'm really glad Zorp introduced me to your channel. Loving your content atm, keep it up fella! At this rate I think I'll be a patron of yours soon!
Thanks mate, I'll do my best.
I love the idea of using tile grout! What a fantastic build.
Thanks man! 😁
Now that is a cool table !
Glad you like it! 😁
Killer board! Amazing detail. Wonderful commentary!
Please, keep it all coming: battle reports, terrain, any and all Middle-earth themed projects!
Cheers mate, I will certainly try! 😁
I love your videos, good humor, and I love the background music. Lol idk why those two things stuck out to me.
Humour and music, got it haha! Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words mate 😊
Love the terrain and the video,Awesome Dave! 😀
Cheers Dave!
My god that is incredible
Thanks! 😁
Fantastic job ! I absolutly love it
Thank you!!! 😁
Incredible board, and great video describing how you made it! Super work! Absolutely love the plaster ruins, great effect
Thanks for the kind words man 😊
Amazing! Absolutely amazing!!!
Thank you so much!!
Fantastic result man, looks ace and a really nice unique aesthetic for a board all round. Don’t see much Horondor stuff 🙌🏻
Thanks man! Now I need to paint up a Harad army to fight some battles on it! Might need to do some epic conversions 😉
As I already said on Insta, this is an incredible gaming board and I'm very impressed how you built the collapsed tower. It is even more interesting to see the building of the board including tests and mistakes.
The buildings fixed on the board gives the board an even better look but you might think about storage for further boards. I maybe would build buildings on plastic card sheets to place them on a plain section on the board, where you leave the needed space. If the plastic card sheets have all the same size, the buildings could be placed randomly on the board. Just an idea 😅
Thanks mate! Yeah that’s a good idea with the plasticard. I’ve got some plans based around that for a future build 😊
It's so nice I watched it twice
Thanks buddy, but why stop there when you could make it thrice, or…. Quartice. That is now a word.
@@dicedrinksanddadjokes your a poet and u didn't know it
Board is incredible. Definitely like to see some battle reports on the channel. Love that you took a different approach to others with the setting. Who needs a zorpa pile of plastic when you can make this happen
Thanks man! Yeah it’s been a while since I did a bat rep. They are calling me… 😆
Battle Reports? Yes please! =D
Cheers man! 😊
Excellent work and board 👍💯
Thank you! Cheers!
How good does that look, a bat rep would be great too.
Thanks for watching mate! 😊

Haha thanks man!
Only 2nd video of yours I've watched and you've got a subscriber. Great video!
Awesome, thank you!
Looks awesome

amazing board! Good job man!
Thanks ☺️
I agree 1.0 was great for me too. I thought it wet blended much smoother. I’m a big Army painter/Vallejo painter and 2.0 is good but I’m glad I have a decent amount of 1.0. It’s and interactive painting experience.
Thanks for watching buddy 😊
Whoops I commented that on the wrong video! Sorry but yeah Lord of the Rings has a tone of great depth to draw inspiration from!!!!!
