    The amazing part is that you can afford a Raspberry Pi ! 💰

  • @galenlaconis
    @galenlaconis ปีที่แล้ว +15

    You saw it quite differently from me. I saw 3 racks in the front of the case each lit blue and mounting its own raspberry pi in a three unit networked pc. then buttons under the bottom rack and IO below that on the main body.

  • @STORMFIRE07
    @STORMFIRE07 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    Wow! The case turned out to be amazing!
    I kinda expected those blue things on the side to be 2.5” Drive mounts (so a total of 3 on top of raspberry pi) but your version looks way cooler!

      @MichaelKlements  ปีที่แล้ว +5

    • @maxgood42
      @maxgood42 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking there was 6 and we could only see 3 ? so that would complete the rack setup also maybe 18650 UPS HAT and as Brian S said have the leds show activity, so the 2.5 would light up when the 2.5 is being used Also one could be RGB so it would refect the Fan speed L,M,H...

      My mind went to drive bays, too, but I imagined them as some sort of front panel drive, like a CD or Floppy disc would be on a full size case.

    When inserting threaded inserts you shouldn't cook your plastic.
    You should get into temperature range slightly lower than "printing" temperature, so for PLA 300°C is a massive overkill that will more or less destroy the plastic touched by the insert.
    180-200°C (depending on the polymer blend) should be maximum

    I agree, the case turned out amazing.
    If you didn't think of this already, the space above the Pi can be used to connect some SSDs.
    just add blue led to the other side, add a slit for the SSD and your done...

    I feel like the 3 blue spots would have been interesting as spots for like drive bays. I mean you wouldn't put an actual cd drive in there but I think if you ever wanted to add something that was similar in shape those 3 blue accents on the AI image would have been perfect.

    I wonder if the acrylic pieces would pop even more if you put a reflective film on the inside to get a mirror effect. Might block airflow but could look cool.

    • @MichaelKlements
      @MichaelKlements  ปีที่แล้ว

    it would have been cool if you had a rail system for laptop hard drives that went in between the blue pieces so you could add storage to it. lots of wasted vertical space that could be better utilized for storage!! --- edit: i wrote this comment before i read the others- and it seems like everyone had this idea too. would be interesting to see it re-imagined with this in mind, in addition to your great creation already!

    • @MichaelKlements
      @MichaelKlements  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll look at putting a kit together or just putting the CAD files up - there is quite a lot of work involved in assembling each case.

    • @sysadmin-info
      @sysadmin-info ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelKlements yes, I know that. The example is the case with water cooling, where you presented a CM4 board with computing module. The CM4 board has 12V for the fan and also the usb port where you can connect the pump separately. In my case where I am going to use Raspberry Pi 4b, I need a module with two relays or a mosfet with optoisolation to be able to connect properly the water pump and a fan (both 5V) the safe way. Besides I had to order all the parts except the 3D printer and laser cutter. Over 1200 PLN ~400 AUS. Probably some of them I could buy cheaper I suppose. But still I have no idea what is the price for cutting with the laser in acrylic 4 A4 sheets I ordered. So assuming I can say that the price is about 400 AUS. For this AI case I think it will be much lower. Around 200-300 AUS.
