    Not sure if you can call this a mod, but lightweight wheels and good performance tires can have a huge impact on the looks and performance of the car. I have 17 inch stock aero wheels for winter and 18 inch bbs wheels for summer, aero wheels feel 2 times heavier.

    • @AutoAutopsy

      I'd definitely consider it a mod! Tires especially!

    The SAAB B284 and B235R stock air boxes have been known to handle upwards of 500 HP so really no need to upgrade unless you are pushing more than that or just like the sound - which many do.

  • @viljamikoivunen6297

    I'm bit picky on suspension and brake upgrades on any car. As with my Saab 9-5 wagon I just did swap all bushings to polyurethane ones. I did choose Powerflex, other brands might as Well work. On brakes I would change hoses to steel braided ones before buying big brake kits as for price point to start with.
    Not a mod to think of but keeping your car serviced, change oils regularly and fix any issues as soon as they appear will also help with performance. I would say good service will help more than minor mods.

    • @davidmiletic6647
      @davidmiletic6647 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How are the powerflex bushing doing? Does it make the ride less comftable?

    • @viljamikoivunen6297
      @viljamikoivunen6297 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidmiletic6647 It does make ride slightly less comfortable but it makes handling a lot sharper. Basicly it makes suspension stiffer as control arms etc has less flex to them. More you put polyurethane more stiffer it comes. If only some of bushings are changed you can balance between performance and comfort

      Good service is certainly vital!

    • @guitarlover302
      @guitarlover302 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes totally agree ! Power flex bushes on anti roll bars seem to push drop links out - however cheaper and safer than broken spring - servicing essential by somebody who knows Saab’s and has Correct diagnostic equipment ie Tech 2

    Im running a stage 1 MPS tune on my 06 bigT 9-3, and holy help what a huge difference in performance it made. Since than added an intake, and muffler delete to a quality tip. Only performance mods to the car, and I pulled a 5.9 0-60, and a 13.9 quarter mile time. And I'm automatic, so cant launch the car. Hey man, love your videos (and your Turbo X)!
    I'm a die hard Saab enthusiast and bought my first car, a Saab 9-3 2.0t 6 months before my 18th birthday (18 is when you get your license in Sweden).
    I've lived abroad for 4.5 years now and the car has just been sitting in a garage, moving back home to Sweden now and are looking to get it out on the road again but also looking to get a second car and I'm really tempted to get a Turbo X or maybe even import a 9-3 Carlsson from the UK.
    Enough about me but just wanted to say I enjoy the content and hearing your car drive!

    I have a 08 9-3 turbo. I use to wish I had 9-3 X but after all the mods and upgrades I did it'll snatch up any 9-3 X and play with its emotions hahah I've put so much time and money into this car. I love it ALOT of the mods I've customized to make fit or modified for better performance. I' fabricated a completely custom hand made set of headers with high flow cat and custom 3 inch pipe all the way back with a flow master 40 series to give it a surprising bad ass one of a kind throaty roar. Its sounds like a pepped up v8. I hate that ricer fart can exhaust sound with a passion. So I was very. Very pleased. Any ways. That's on top of head work. ( ported polished shaved) massive intercooler, tune, high pressure fuel pump injectors, bigger throttle body, bigger turbo , plus a few other secrets all wrapped on a good suspension and wheel kit this thing is efffn amazing. My homies call it the Saabaru I give sti's run for their money if only I could get that 6 speed in mine we'd be sti hunting !!! Hahaha

    - Speedparts front strutbar.. Mote for the eye, then roadholding.
    - "hirsched" my original airintake, with drilling holes on one side. *ads 5hp* or at least you gett some turboompf.
    - 315mm brakes, good mod.
    Other then that: green footwell lights, central lock button on the right door (from 03) Trunk button on drivers door and US locking settings for the trunk door.
    03 plastic plates on the doorlock, for the eye.
    Cubic dashbord, from MY2012, old dash was worn out.
    Cupholder in the smartslot.
    Scania Ashtray, just because.
    Jacket hook on every manhandel, just because. Safety net, and sun shades in all the windows behind the front Windows.
    Moast my add ons and Mods are of the geeky type..
    03 doorsills (they have aluminium inlays) biltema carbonsticker centerconsol.
    IG @saabtrails for more
    And I have Diadem blinker, and Linear lip and turbo x lip on the frontbumper. And my 1,8t and biopower badges stays on to confuse the teenage BMW drivers :)

Im limited to 180hp on ethanol due to injectors and 210hp on 98 due to small Garrett GT2052s which will be upgraded later to Aero TD04-14T or 16T and Aero about 600cc injectors. Hopefully makes even close to 300hp

    Coming from the Volvo world..cone filter intakes don't do anything except slightly better throttle response. The only reason to do this would be for more turbo sound. The factory Volvo ram air works better at keeping intake temps low. How hard would it be to put a junkyard K24 from Volvo S60R on the TurboX? Or if your gonna go for it just go HX35?

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll probably stick with the 19t or 20t; that's what most people do and it's a direct bolt on

    • @willriley1619
      @willriley1619 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Auto Autopsy If you are talking about a 19T from a Volvo then a K24 would be pretty much bolt on as well. My Volvo T5 has a TD04 16T. On the T5 being a 2.3L 5 cylinder the TD04 seems too small. For you having a 6 cylinder I would look into larger housing options especially since you live in south west. Those TD04s get hot especially at 20psi or more.

    • @willriley1619
      @willriley1619 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like to think of ideas to utilize old or junkyard parts to upgrade other vehicles. What would be really cool to do to your car would adapt the Volvo T6 twin turbo system to your V6. There are 2 separate manifolds with TD03 11g turbos on them but you could bolt TD04 16T turbos to them. So you could get 2 manifold adapters made to fit your head. Your engine bay looks pretty crammed already so clearance and space would probably be a problem. Obviously some sort of tune would be needed though I'm sure. That would be cool though 3 cylinders can easily power TD04 series turbos.

    I would say that it comes with the 15t turbo but I am not totally sure. One question I do have however is concerning mileage since the popular belief is that the mileage improves with a tune. Have you noticed any difference with it? I am planning on tuning and modding my '06 aero in a near future.

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say it's gotten a bit better. Depends on what tune, but they certainly can do insanely good things for your gas mileage.

    • @anothersaabstory1237
      @anothersaabstory1237 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fuel economy benefit is mostly for Diesel engines. On petrol it all depends on how hard you put your foot down, and all about keeping out of high revs. If I eco-drive my A4 with a 2.0 tfsi engine, I can manage 6.5 l/100km or even better, but “normal” driving on the same stretch of road (about 20 km) I do about 8.5 l/100 km. My car is tuned by REVO (big in the VAG tuning scene) and it made no difference to mileage and fuel consumption for “normal” driving. If anything it got worse 😂

    • @mudckip
      @mudckip 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anothersaabstory1237 hmm, alright then. On every forum i've been on regarding tuning and fuel consumption they say that you will have about a 10% difference from stock, but i guess i'll have to tune it to find out😂 6,5l/100 seems a little much for that engine imo, since I with my 2.8t V6 Saab 9-3 gets roughly 6,2 with my eco-driving shoes on🤔 normal driving shouldn't be talked about since that's rubbish to be honest😂
