For me they almost seem like a tablet replacement. Primarily for use at home, allowing you a bigger display than your phone to watch Netflix or TH-cam, but also letting you stay hands free. Plus great for lying down so you don't have to tire your arms out holding the tablet above your head. Also a bit better for your neck as unlike a phone you won't always be tilting your head down, you can watch stuff at a comfortable normal angle.
But not exactly a table replacement. You can't use the touchscreen because there isn't one so you can't draw like in tablet and i also wonder if you would be able to play games like Asphalt 9 without gamepad and just by tilting your head or the phone
If these were wireless and the casting worked without the screen on, or with minimal screen on like how windows phone link works, I would be throwing money at this product. this is very exciting stuff for VR and AR, but it's the kinda thing I'd prefer to test out in a store before acquiring it, specially considering how pricey it is. In concept, it sounds heavenly, but it's a matter of how well it delivers the promised features, and with that kinda device you really need it hands on to get a feel on it.
In a few more years, once it's all wireless and more discrete, this kind of AR will be plain tech perfection. Just imagine popping a tiny controller out of your pocket and playing your console on a huge screen on your way to work wearing your regular everyday glasses.

Would be great for AR workouts. Imagine having a mixed AR Zwift run/ride or kayaking while competing online. Just having the stats up as a type of HUD would alone be great. Could also imagine use cases for safety for cyclists where a reverse view and type of Tesla like AR hud could be provided to give you more awareness of things around you or behind you.
Would be sweet to have a virtual workspace for getting things done on the go - like having a giant multi-monitor set up with you on the plane, train, or just when you're away from home. Just bring a mouse and keyboard with you and you're off to the races

here is some information for those interested in purchasing: - purchase on EE is only possible in the UK and you need to have a subscription with them (or physically go to the store); but on ebay there is a Japanese seller who usually ships them. - even if they have MR compatibility they are purely useful for aircasting, but you don't need a compatible phone for this: any device that supports USB-C to DP will work (for example also a steam deck or a desktop / laptop ). so they are called AR glasses but in the end they remain an excellent portable monitor in reality.

I always like the idea of having Glasses for AR. The headset concept fits for VR and gaming. Unlike headsets glasses are easy to carry, not heavy so u can wear for long and do ur task efficiency.
Today I had the idea that if mixing AR technology to voice recognition technology, we could generate subtitles to whatever people in front of you are saying which could be huge for language learners, but not only that, it could probably even auto-translate any language! A bit like the Google Translate conversation mode works right now but you would see the subtitles in the screen as you talk to people! For this reason alone, it would justify getting one of those.
That's already available for the Nreal Air, look up 'xrai glass' which is a simple translator on the screen (up to 9 languages at this point). I've tried the software on my android phone w/o the glasses (still debating to buy them as what/why will I REALLY use them for!). I'm basically deaf, so having live captioning apps on the phone is handy, the idea of having it displayed in front of you is even better. The software is free with add-on (expensive) monthy plans. I don't expect to need the plans and will stick with the freebie. Not sure if the XRAI GLASS app is available on IOS.
Well this could become the cheap 4K OLED experience for people that can't afford a TV/Monitor... I would prefer they go all in with a high quality head-set that attach the glasses with magnetic connections on the sides.
can you have multiple virtual monitors? if so, 3 virtual monitors with specifit resolutions? for example center with 3440x1440, and other two with 1920x1080?
They need to make an app to share a virtual space so two people with glasses can watch the same thing or even swap digital content by handing it to each other.
I would want them to be able to be hooked up to a laptop or desktop PC. If when watching them in a totally dark room and with the dark shades on, if it truly looks equal to a bright nice OLED with deep colors, nice specular highlights and no blooming etc. They would be really awesome. All that I mentioned and I would definitely buy them. I hope they would make them able to be used on a computer as well.
Hi Loki, Literally you could use it with any device which supports DP Alt Mode, including a laptop. With a compatible smartphone, you could use it with Nebula for full features including the MR Space and the Aircasting. If you don't have a compatible phone, you could use it as an external display for desktop mode. With a 130-inch virtual screen 4 meters away in the Aircasting mode, you could also enjoy personal theater experience with it.

I think the Apple AR glasses would look similar to this and probably be wireless (all the major compute might be offloaded to your phone instead of the glasses). So the current use cases of AR/VR I’ve noticed are as follows: 1) Could be a cheaper option for professionals that use multiple monitors since you can use it as a hovering external display. Might even replace desktop monitors entirely if the resolution and color quality becomes better. 2) 3D artists already use VR devices for modeling, some say its more intuitive 3) Could serve as an iPad /TV replacement device. If multiple devices can sync in a way that people can consume the same video content with different devices that would be dope 4) Industrial applications (military, engineering, teaching, etc)
...why can't Facebook make the Quest 2 this seamless? This is exactly what I want VR for - playing games on a large screen without taking up a huge amount of space in my smaller apartment.
I recommend getting VorpX and/or Bigscreen. I have used(and still do) both. I also own a Quest 2. Bigscreen allows you to show your desktop on a massive big screen virtual television in your VR. And you don't need to move around, I play games on that perfectly fine from my desk and I live in an RV(so, far less space than your apartment). One advantage to Bigscreen is, if you have friends who have VR as well, you can invite them to your 'room' and share your screen with them. Watch movies together from your computer, or play split screen capable games like you are in the same room. VorpX allows you to play most of your standard games in a VR environment. With some having settings where you can actually play them in VR(full head tracking and such). Advantage here is, some games will actually take on a true 3d effect and make things really pop. You can also play them on a virtual screen if you don't want to go full VR. You will still get the stereoscopic 3d effect with games that support it. Drawback being, you can't share with friends. It's just a solo to you experience. Bigscreen is free. VorpX costs $39.99usd(at the time of this posting)
@@TrexelCat I love bigscreen for movies and shows, but with games the input lag is a bit too much for me. Granted I've only tried it with COD. I should try playing an offline single player game and see if it works better. I've never heard of VorpX. I should check it out. I tend to use big screen as a solo experience anyway. XD
@@ninjacats200 Yeah, slower paced solo games work better in Bigscreen. Also best if you use a link cable over wireless as the data transfer speed is faster and reduces some of that input lag. VorpX is a much better visual experience from the game side. Sadly, not all games will work with VorpX as it requires a very specific hooking method that will, at best not work with some games, and at worse cause the game to flat out crash hard. Up side though, VorpX allows you to use the VR controllers directly, even if the game doesn't support a controller by basically doing the same thing as other programs like JoytoKey do and remapping your controller inputs to keyboard/mouse commands. That remapping is customizable. I actually did a stream once where I played a game through VorpX. With a picture-in-picture window showing what I was seeing on my headset.
I have a pair of AR Glasses as well. Mine are Dream Glass Lead 4k, but i really believe they're 2k resolution, and no cell phone is needed, but they are bigger. However, they are still lighter than a VR headset.
Awfully hard to find that information on their site, but seems to be one 1080p screen per eye like the one in this video. A 4k screen is equivalent to 4 1080p screens, so not quite there yet.
this would be perfect for taking notes in class. This stuff is waaaaaaaaaaaay more realistic to use in work/learning environments than whatever "meta" is trying to force onto their employees and consumers.

Nice to see how far they are. I think in a couple years.. when everything is worked out, and the prices are more in the consumer range. This type of glasses might be a big success
It's not new technology, it's just mini monitors reflected into the window. Another company was able to make something similar but with a computer build in, only problem was that it wasn't stylish.
Just need more competition and economies of scale. Once apple and other companies release their own versions...i could see this whole concept finally go mainstream.
i am traveling a lot in my camper and i always miss my big widesreen for working while on the road. is it a comfortable solution to use it as my macbook-screen to have always a "bis" screen with me?
How much would it damage your retina/eyes on the long term.....I would think it would cause problems looking at long distances, problems already on the rise due to close range phone use
I wonder whether AR glasses will gradually replace smartphones altogether. Imagine 10 years from now when it is a fully seamless experience, and if some major players get involved like Apple (which it sounds like they will) it seems like the natural next step in our increasing integration with technology/the internet - whether you want it or not!
I think that will happen when they get hand-tracking/gestures right. Maybe hands free done by cameras, and maybe it will be with a tiny intuitive control, or band that can read our muscle signals (already exists). But when that is done, and maybe some eyetracking in there too. Then I think people will switch really fast. Hell, they can even make some mind commands nowadays with tools like emotiv epoc. The future will be crazy
Not possible. Becuase, wearing glasses for short while is fun. Wearing glass for whole day and you have no freedom to remove is disastrous. Those suffer with far sighted group have no choice to wear glass. Else they also don’t want to wear.
@@chengyangooi4694 why would you have to wear them all day? I don’t look at my phone all day. I agree the idea of taking them off/on/off/on sounds cumbersome, but then, people often do that with, say, sunglasses, so I’m not sure it would make it an impossibility. I would also assume that Apple would be looking at designing prescription versions of the glasses so anyone could wear them.
@@alexc1485 how are you deal going to with incoming phone call if you decide not to wear the spec long day? You have to make the glasses easily available for you. Also when come to typing experience, smart phone still provide the best user experience and efficiency. @@chengyangooi4694 yeah they are definitely issues to overcome that I’m not gonna say I have the answer to, so it’s interesting to hear your take. Do you not feel that many of those issues are largely down to the tech still being in its early stages? I don’t know, but I know it is very hard to predict where we will be 10 years from now.
The glasses and the phone will be together. They will make it really crazy once it feels like a video game. You can FaceTime with a digital version of you’re friend where it will feel like they’re in front of you and just put their face on a very accurate looking body. You’ll be able to walk around and have a augmented reality tour guide. I’m telling you this paired with video on the front is going to change the game.

It's not anything like VR dude. VR isn't just a screen in front of your face, VR is getting 6DoF, being able to get up, move around, it's all in 3D cause each eye has it's own screen. if they add a driving app that shows speed limit, accidents to avoid, and like racing games virtual arrows showing turns, and signal changes, or point A to point B routes thru glasses while driving would be cool
I wouldn't say these qualify as "AR". They are simply an image projected in front of your eyes. I feel like a big qualifier for AR is having an ability to interact with reality, and augment it.
Well that's basically what AR is. An image projected in your eyes. You're talking about the platforms that were going to get developed and the apps that will follow along with machine learning, gps dependent, etc
I really like the idea of this take on light weight VR glasses. But, Nreal won't be getting developer support in the US and will fall behind as the developer kits are very expensive (and I know getting your company to invest money in pricy dev tools is not easy) and Meta headsets already have a dominant product that is easier for developers to get started on.
Something that would be awesome is hooking your phone up to a controller like the razer Kishi 2 then using the extra port on the kishi to hook these glasses up then streaming games like you said in this video. That way you can have a actual good connection to the controller (not Bluetooth) and still use the air glasses. This is pretty cool and I can’t wait to see where this tech goes in the future.
@@rz9974 yeah wouldn’t the kishi be able to charge the glasses while having it hooked up to your phone?? I don’t see why not as the only point of plugging in the glasses is to power them and the kishi 2 port is a pass through so u can have you phone hooked to it and be charging the kishi 2 at the same time. So instead of charging the kishi 2 you would just plug the glasses in.
The Apple AR glasses will be crazy good when they come out in the next 1-3 years... super excited for this to become the norm. If we move to this form factor away from large electronics it will save so many materials and CO2 for manufacturing
I wonder, would DeX work with these glasses? That would be an amazing stand-in as it wouldn’t require the screen to be on in your pocket, and would provide you with an operating system built for multitasking

I backed Viture one on Kick starter and they are starting to ship their glasses out. Cannot wait to try their version of AR glasses. What sold me on Viture was that they have a neckband that can load up apps like netflex, HBO max, and both PlayStation's and Steams streaming apps so you can stream games right to it without having to use your phone. They also have a dock for the switch and I will be using them a lot with the switch. I've been trying to find a way to play my PS5 or PC games while on the treadmill. Using a TV is hard with where everything is in the basement, and streaming to my phone the screen is just too small and looking down for so long hurts my neck. I want to see if these glasses would make it easier to watch a show, movie, or play a game while on the treadmill.
Ha, you ended on a shot of removing the plastic clingfilm. That's a good metaphor for this whole oddly-satisfying video. I think it was the high-quality footage through the Nreal glasses that really stood out. Nicely done! Now if you're a gamer at all you've gotta try it with a Steam Deck; lotsa folks are saying it's awesome.
This type of glasses , paired with a pc would be a gamechanging work improvement. I am a game dev, this thing could be used as a second and third scrreen with a lot more workspace using just a notebook pc. It would be life chaning for me. Love it.

I'm more impressed than I thought I'd be. However, one application I thought would be a core use case was GPS directions while biking/riding a motorcycle and I'm not sure if these cover that so well. From what I understand, you could open the full Google Maps app and maybe push it off to the side? But that seems like far too distracting and too much information. Ideally, they would have a custom app in the MR space that just showed basic info like next turn and time to destination. If they had exterior cameras, they could lay the next turn markings over the actual road - that's one of the holy grails of AR!

Never been big on VR or AR but this is something special. I really like it. This is what I dreamed of as a kid when I thought of AR.
here is some information for those interested in purchasing:
- purchase on EE is only possible in the UK and you need to have a subscription with them (or physically go to the store); but on ebay there is a Japanese seller who usually ships them.
Hmmm? Wonder how trading charts would look using these glasses, and marking them up. I could see a very good use case for anyone who trades currencies, commodities, metals, or even stocks.
Have you tried in the computer "as a monitor" for video editing? if so, is it a completely replacemente of a monitor for that task?

In a few years, I’m hoping stuff like this is the norm. Being able to sit on a plane with glasses on and have a huge ass TV would be incredible.

They need to make an app to share a virtual space so two people with glasses can watch the same thing or even swap digital content by handing it to each other.
It already shares a virtual screen if you are close to another NREAL glasses wearer.

I think the Apple AR glasses would look similar to this and probably be wireless (all the major compute might be offloaded to your phone instead of the glasses).
So the current use cases of AR/VR I’ve noticed are as follows:
1) Could be a cheaper option for professionals that use multiple monitors since you can use it as a hovering external display. Might even replace desktop monitors entirely if the resolution and color quality becomes better.
2) 3D artists already use VR devices for modeling, some say its more intuitive
3) Could serve as an iPad /TV replacement device. If multiple devices can sync in a way that people can consume the same video content with different devices that would be dope
4) Industrial applications (military, engineering, teaching, etc)
...why can't Facebook make the Quest 2 this seamless?

@@chengyangooi4694 yeah they are definitely issues to overcome that I’m not gonna say I have the answer to, so it’s interesting to hear your take. Its gonna be so good when mainstream companies like apple, samsung ,xiomi etc gonna make these ar glasses that makes competition in the market and at the end we get good products..which dont have to connected via a cable ..
Looking forward to the future am excited
Hey Tech Chap, could you confirm if it gives you 1080p when aircasting or something like 3040x1080 wide screen? Thanks a bunch
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life
Hey! Great video btw!
How's the resolution? Can you read small text easily (e.g the apps name 2.25 ?) Or will a movie look too pixelated cos it's like a 130'' screen 3m away with a resolution of "just" 1080p?
So I can't use these with any source that has USB-c display out?
if they add a driving app that shows speed limit, accidents to avoid, and like racing games virtual arrows showing turns, and signal changes, or point A to point B routes thru glasses while driving would be cool
Somebody gonna hack it and add Mario Kart item boxes lol
@@gueits8586 Would actually love a vr mario kart 😂

@@INDRA027_ Ah yes.
in just a few years this tech will be inserted in our eyes
I wouldn't say these qualify as "AR". They are simply an image projected in front of your eyes. I feel like a big qualifier for AR is having an ability to interact with reality, and augment it.
Well that's basically what AR is. An image projected in your eyes. You're talking about the platforms that were going to get developed and the apps that will follow along with machine learning, gps dependent, etc
I agree, defintely should have thought of a camera to analyse and interact with the environment from the wearer POW
How is it 90hz refresh rate their amazon page claims that its only 60 frames
I really like the idea of this take on light weight VR glasses.
But, Nreal won't be getting developer support in the US and will fall behind as the developer kits are very expensive (and I know getting your company to invest money in pricy dev tools is not easy) and Meta headsets already have a dominant product that is easier for developers to get started on.
I think you’re mistaking this for a VR HMD. This is a completely different proposition.
@@cyberpope2137 Plus Meta headsets are pure shite
Which one is better, this or Rayban Meta Wayfarer?
Something that would be awesome is hooking your phone up to a controller like the razer Kishi 2 then using the extra port on the kishi to hook these glasses up then streaming games like you said in this video. That way you can have a actual good connection to the controller (not Bluetooth) and still use the air glasses. This is pretty cool and I can’t wait to see where this tech goes in the future.
I think the kishi 2 port is charging only
@@rz9974 yeah wouldn’t the kishi be able to charge the glasses while having it hooked up to your phone?? I don’t see why not as the only point of plugging in the glasses is to power them and the kishi 2 port is a pass through so u can have you phone hooked to it and be charging the kishi 2 at the same time. So instead of charging the kishi 2 you would just plug the glasses in.
I'm a line cook at a restaurant n these would be sickk to be able to watch YT etc.. while working 😎
These are really cool and id love to get a pair, but unfortunately until there is apple support, its a no from me
I love AR, never thought of combining it with VR, that makes it even better
The Apple AR glasses will be crazy good when they come out in the next 1-3 years... super excited for this to become the norm. If we move to this form factor away from large electronics it will save so many materials and CO2 for manufacturing
I thought they were gonna make the release next year.
Honestly this glasses looks like an alternative for VR glasses
I wonder, would DeX work with these glasses? That would be an amazing stand-in as it wouldn’t require the screen to be on in your pocket, and would provide you with an operating system built for multitasking
I thought the same!
Perfect for watchin funny shit while doing house work or watching motivational videos while working out
This is better than the apple thing announced lol
Like it or not apple is needed to give this type of tech the push that it needs. Stuff like this has existed for ages as you can see, but not many people knew about it, until today
Apple is shit overpriced
@@IHTCAU yeah but I sadly see Apple Fans saying it's as great as the iPhone was.
The revolutionary thing about it is the eye and finger tracking and the great hardware, which is somewhat industry leading. I hope for the best in the XR space though.
@@eulehund99 if it becomes a necessity the way smartphones are for most people, then yes
@@IHTCAU I meant as an innovation. The Vision Pro is very little compared to the iPhone innovation wise
Woow, this is exactly what the future should look like! No monitor at workspaces. I hope the app will work for laptop/pc/ps5
I wonder if this kind of tech will end up replacing TV's in homes. You can just put the glasses on and stare at a wall if the image quality is good enough lol
It will change phones. No need for large phone screens. All these foldable phones will be useless.
Can I to connect it at the notebook?
Can’t wait for these things to become mainstream devices. No pressure Apple
Anything from Apple will be overpriced and programmed with inbuilt obsolescence after about 6 months.
Have you tested this as an regular USB-C display? Can you still adjust the position inside the glasses then? If yes, this might be great for coding
what you're looking for is Lenovo Glasses T1 but it's much more expensive than this.
Thank you for actually filming the inside of the lens. (Or trying to lol) Makes me feel a lot better about this tech. Was really interested in woods video (beatemups) but he didn’t even attempt to record them which is understandable lol
Dayum. this tech is really exciting. Can't wait for future versions of this one.
demmmmm theese glasses are really good i will buy them
This is way better than I thought it would be wth
Unless you're going for a walk, don't expect any pleasant watching experience
Ha, you ended on a shot of removing the plastic clingfilm. That's a good metaphor for this whole oddly-satisfying video. I think it was the high-quality footage through the Nreal glasses that really stood out. Nicely done!
Now if you're a gamer at all you've gotta try it with a Steam Deck; lotsa folks are saying it's awesome.
This type of glasses , paired with a pc would be a gamechanging work improvement. I am a game dev, this thing could be used as a second and third scrreen with a lot more workspace using just a notebook pc. It would be life chaning for me. Love it.
Another device to keep us away from friends, family, our environment and society, what a time to be alive, humanity is gradually fading away.
Nice video and cool device though, I appreciate the Tech. 😊
