Thank you, Nicole. Your hair is beautiful. I love how specific you were about the entire process. I’m new to toning my bleached hair so I loved hearing the exact steps. I can bleach it again, but I’m going to try just toning, since it will take a week to get bleach in the mail. I’m impatient-like you.
Thank you so much for this video. I recently wanted something very similar to this for myself. I paid $200 to have it professionally done and now I have blonde patches and electric purple hair. This makes me feel like I can actually fix this problem myself! Thank you so much!
This was a fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much for being so descriptive and for adding the text below the video of directions and products. I'm new to dyi hair so I have a lot to learn! Your video was amazingly useful!
I never comment on videos but i had to. Your hair turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!!! Best tutorial I've seen on TH-cam!! One question, was this all done in one sitting?
Love your hair results!!! I have paid like 5 times at a salon and still haven't gotten my hair as light as I want 🙄 So here I am youtubing how to lighten it myself.. but kinda scared to do it.. lol !! Thanks for the video (:
Welp... I just went to Sally's purchased everything that you listed above and am starting the first bleach process now... I'll let you know what happens!!!!!
Reba Willett woo hoo good for you! Whether the results are perfect or not, I've always enjoyed doing my own hair. Best of luck and try not to be discouraged if/when it doesn't look amazing after the first process.
Reba Willett how exciting! I'd love to hear how everything turns out for you! Let us know if you have any tips after doing it yourself. Good luck, be patient because going blonde can really be a long process, no pun intended, give your hair lots of deep conditioning afterwards 👍🏼💕
Loved it. I had the same process w dark roots which I didn't touch. Rest of my hair is mid brown and made the blonde. I couldn't use a tone cuz I didn't find any around. I used silver shampoo. Nice results
this is very helpful! i will be experimenting on my hair tomorrow. I have bleached it twice and I now have the brassy orange hair. Haha! I plan to bleach tomorrow and tone with wella t18.. This video has been very informative! I love the results on you! Very fantabulous!
Awesome I'm glad it was helpful. Another way I've discovered I like to tone my hair between toning sessions is to add a tiny amount of purple/blue hair dye to conditioner (like midnight blue manic panic or a purple) I add a pea size amount to about 1/4 cup of any white conditioner and massage into my hair after I shampoo it like normal in the shower and let it sit for a just a minute or so and it makes such a huge difference. Best of luck!
I do this almost the same. I do not tease it at all though and yes I had to come back and add more to the tops sections also around my face. So many people are scared to do this free hand but it makes so much more sense!!! All that’s time am wasted with the foils and all that other nonsense they do all just to charge more. I do mine in 3 to some times 4 sessions to lift to where I want. I hate toner. They are as are a fad and you don’t need them if it’s been bleached correct They don’t do crap. I have little to no damage.
I do go up more to the scalp. You gotta bleach till it’s where you want. Skip that toner !! Don’t need it. I would always wait weeks if not a month if it wasn’t a sparingly applications like bleach 3 and for sure 4 are always,
O yeah oloplex just cuts the power of the developer strength. It’s again another waste of money. People please don’t get ripped off by a hustler hair salon. They over process to over charge just educate yourself
I tried doing this last week with the "Blonde Brilliance" kit from Sally's, and it's fairly brassy (hence the reason I watched your video lol). I'm going to try toning it first and see how it looks, but I'm sure I will need to bleach again to get the lighter result I want. Thank you for posting this, because I feel more confident about bleaching a second time :) Of course this time I will use all the products you have used. No more kits for me!
Good luck and thank you for watching! Try not to get discouraged. I almost scrapped my progress several times but I'm glad I went all the way. Even though I'm back to dark now haha
i don't blame you! don't feel pressured to try it but you could always start with a few small pieces to see if you like it. If you do try it good luck!
Thank you so much for your video! I find it the best for me from what I watched so far. Usually I would go to a salon but I'm in Korea right now (not in Seoul) and they definitely do not know how to do all these kind of things. Plus it enormously expensive here (even if they don't do it well). I'm so shocked! So I gave up on finding a salon where they can do it and decided to do it myself haha. Again thanks to the video!
I really enjoyed watching this. You were really informative and I love the results! Although I can't get everything at the Sally's in the UK I was able to get the Absolute Perfection shipped. First process today from a level 3/4 with lots of colour took me to a very bright orange/ginger but thanks to you I never freaked out! I actually expected it. I put a 7/1 and 7/0 on instead of toner, its still very warm but not bright but am getting toner for next stage. Going to wait 2 weeks for the next bleaching if I can hang on that long ;) xxx
I've definitely had some bad experiences with hair but some of them were the result of a salon. I like that hair is temporary. Good luck if you decide to go for it :)
Gorgeous! Ok about to do my hair. I’m not red anymore as my profile picture. Believe it or not I did go very red with no bleach! Lol ask me if anyone wants to know how I did it. Great video. I had to get motivated to do my own hair and your video is extremely helpful! I have everything you used including the ION booster and color sealer. I wish more would use this stuff. It is a dupe for Olaplex. I have used both! Both are magnificent in protecting your hair. Ok off to do my hair. Will send update soon. 😉
Hey, this is a really helpful video. I think you're one of few people on TH-cam who showed how to go from brunette to blonde in a straight forward fashion! Just wondering did you find that the Wella T18 toner turned the dark orange bits on the hair near your scalp (which can be seen at 3:26) into a nice dark ash blonde colour? Most of the time, toners wont do anything for dark orange/brassy bits of hair as the hair has to be a pale yellow colour first before the toner can work. But from looking at the video you seem to have been able to turn the dark orange bits at the top of your scalp into a nice dark ash blonde colour after toning twice with the T18. Just wondering did you only bleach the area on the top of your scalp once before toning twice? I think you focused more on the bottom area of your hair when you bleached it the 2nd and 3rd time...
segoviate thank you! I found that the toner lifted my roots and helped tone out a lot of the grassiness. My natural color is a level 6 ash so that might be part of it too.
wow you did an awesome job, well done!! Just got balayage done also and posted the process on my channel, but I got it done at my salon! Dont think i'd have the talent to do it myself but love watching these vids nontheless!
I'm also an upcoming TH-camr although I see you have over 6000 subscribers LOL I am nowhere near you but I do videos on colored contact hauls, makeup, skin care, hair coloring and much more. I just subscribed to you and would really appreciate if you could subscribe back❤
this looks so good on u! i recently just bought all the supplies to go blonde so im nervous but this video definitely helped more than others! i heard if u put coconut oil the night before u bleach and leave it on while u bleach it also lessens the damaging on your hair :)
Thanks for watching and best of luck! I definitely like doing coconut oil masks in my hair but I've never tried it while bleaching. I might have to do that next time. Thanks!
Yes it works. You can also French your ends in virgin olive oil twice a week to help. I learned this from a very reputable color specialist salon stylist ❤
the orange is actually not bad on u especially for fall is cool.. my hair is pretty dark as urs ..i watch a few ppl on youtube trying to go blonde themselves .. i picked out the same loreal box to go ombre blonde and changed my mind on doing it myself..il save money for a male turkish stylist to do it for me for around $100
So glad I came across this. I recently died my hair and it turned out how yours did in the first clip. It’s been about a month and I’m going to do it again. Did you top it up after this? If so,how?
Great results! When you started, was your hair dyed that dark brown with like a permanent box dye? and I'm wondering if you had many layers of different dyes to bleach through or was your hair pretty "virgin" in your before color?
I love your video!!! you show all the process! I do my balayage By meself too! and I also make two Times the process and my hair was orange and I feel like OMG! and then I tone it and fix it.... so thanks for show the orange hair part soñé the ones that hace dark hair fisrt we are going ti get this colour...
It came out really good. You look beautiful. I just bleached my hair yesterday and I had previously colored hair. It is pretty bright now almost platinum but a light orange at the roots. I'm scared to tone it now or just bleach the light orange roots again and then tone it to get to a ash blond?!
+Fatma Mtaha if it's still pretty orange I'd bleach again, if you're going for an ash blonde. If you're going for more of a light ash brown you could try toning it now. Then if it's still not light enough you could bleach it again.
You did such an amazing job with your hair and explaining everything so clearly. I bought just about everything on the list and I’m about to try it on myself. 😬 How long did you wait before bleaching it the second time?
Thank you! I'm going to attempt to add my own highlights in a pre existing balayage that I got done at the salon. I always tell my stylist that I don't want brown and it still comes out mostly brown with highligts mixed in starting at the middle. The top of my head is dark brown. I'm going to just leave it brown and add some more highlights throughout for contrast. Do you think this process would work for highlights in brown hair? Also, do you know if it's better to use a toner or an ashy boxed color to tone? I saw one video mention that using a box color is better because the color lasts longer and that toner only lasts 1 week. I have no experience with using either so no clue. Thanks!
First all, best of luck on your endeavor and thank you for watching my video! I definitely think it would work on brown hair with highlights since that's basically what I had after my first process. I've used toner to make my hair ashy as well as an ashy boxed hair color. It really depends on what color you're trying to tone. For me, if the hair is already very light (like a pale yellow) toner works better. If the color is more of a orange, I like to use boxed color. Best of luck!
I'm sorry, I have one more question. If I just want to add highlights and then use an ashy boxed dye to correct brass should I apply the boxed color only to the highlights or all of the hair? Thanks so much!
You've inspired me to try this. I've never purchased bleach and toner. Is the toner process similar to the store box hair dyed? When you did the toner the first time your hair was warmer but the roots weren't brassy like when you bleached it. How did you keep it from being brassy? Or was it a little brassy? -Hana
+Pepper and Pine most store box dyes have toner and color/bleach in pre packaged amounts. I just think it's more convenient to have what I need at home and to measure myself. I never actually brought the bleach to my roots do they didn't get brassy. The got a little lighter from the toner. I hope that helps.
I hope you enjoy the video! I recapped the steps in the description box in case that's easier to follow. Thanks for watching!
Nicole Rene Hi Beautiful. I, subscribed to your channel. You have very nice content. Keep up the Great video's.
I love how ur hair turned ouf it looks beautiful
Your hair must be very healthy to take all those chemicals without breaking! Thanks so much for the steps...will save.
One of the most beautiful dark to light transformations I've seen! It truly looks professionally done :)
Thank you so much!
what a great hair color video, no unnecessary exposition or misinformation, straight forward and informative, thanks so much
Thank you so much for this video. I recently wanted something very similar to this for myself. I paid $200 to have it professionally done and now I have blonde patches and electric purple hair. This makes me feel like I can actually fix this problem myself! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I did the same thing last year when I first lightened my hair. Good luck if you're trying it!
Girl, I just followed these steps and thank God for toner!!!
My hair turned out GORGEOUS.
That's awesome I'm so happy it worked out for you!
Blond is more better than brown to you :) Good job.
Thank you :)
Awesome, I've researched DIY hair lighteners/bleach, in an "obsessive manner" lol and your video is honest and accurate - fantastic job!
I’m
Really surprised by how nicely
This turned out all things considered
Finally I found a detailed video on this subject!!! I’ve been searching for days!!! Thank you for sharing!!
This was a fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much for being so descriptive and for adding the text below the video of directions and products. I'm new to dyi hair so I have a lot to learn! Your video was amazingly useful!
Thank you so very much. I really wanted to make it as easy to follow as possible. Best of luck!
I never comment on videos but i had to. Your hair turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!!! Best tutorial I've seen on TH-cam!! One question, was this all done in one sitting?
Thank you so much. It was not done in one sitting but in three processes total. I would say I completely the whole process in about two weeks.
Love your hair results!!! I have paid like 5 times at a salon and still haven't gotten my hair as light as I want 🙄 So here I am youtubing how to lighten it myself.. but kinda scared to do it.. lol !! Thanks for the video (:
Neli Romero for sure!! A year before this I went to a salon as well. It barely lightened. So I was like screw it! Lol
Good luck!
This is by far the best video for hair coloring at home I've ever seen on youtube! Thank you! Well done!
Lyubomira Gerova thank you so much!
This is my favorite hair coloring video ever, instructions and explanations are so clear. Thank you! ♥️
Thank you very much, I really tried to show the process as simply and clearly and completely as possible. Thanks for watching!
this was the best tutorial
Thank you so much!
I had never heard of the ion booster stuff! Thank you so much for mentioning it. I'm picking that up tomorrow.
I love the blonde color on you. I recently did the T18 Toner and my hair turned green. No more ash in my life.
Blonde hair looks amazing on you!
Thank you! It took me awhile to get used to it

Well, how did it work??
Inquiring minds want to know how things went! 🙂
I hate when people go out of their way to say they will update people in the comments but they never do.
Ty so much for being one of the few to do this on not previously lightened hair 😁
Love your hair. it's exactly what I was wanting to do on mine. I'm so glad you did this so I can steal the tips!!
+Jesse Lalli not stealing, you go for it!!!
Love it love it love it
Very helpful, will follow ur instructions
Best on TH-cam
This is very informative!
Thank you so much!
very informative I tried this and it worked well thank you... I should have read the information box as I didnt know I should use the foil xx
It just helps separate the hair and speed up the process, but it's not totally necessary.
If ur not a professional after getting that result, I'm nothing compared to you. Ur so talented!!
Thank you so much. A lot of trial and error, and it definitely didn't look cute in the orange phase haha.
This was such a great video! you are brave boo! your color looks gawgiss! Thanks for sharing!
this is the best tutorial on youtube. Thank you! you look so great with blonde hair😍 greetings from germany
Loved it. I had the same process w dark roots which I didn't touch. Rest of my hair is mid brown and made the blonde. I couldn't use a tone cuz I didn't find any around. I used silver shampoo. Nice results
That's awesome. Thank you for watching!
LOVE THIS! Thank you! Got my hair bleached for the first time yesterday, and it was terrible. Going to try this. Awesome, prevalent information
Same with me. Spent a bunch of money and hated it.. Good luck!
this is very helpful! i will be experimenting on my hair tomorrow. I have bleached it twice and I now have the brassy orange hair. Haha! I plan to bleach tomorrow and tone with wella t18.. This video has been very informative! I love the results on you! Very fantabulous!

I do not tease it at all though and yes I had to come back and add more to the tops sections also around my face.
So many people are scared to do this free hand but it makes so much more sense!!!
All that’s time am wasted with the foils and all that other nonsense
they do all just to charge more. I do mine in 3 to some times 4 sessions to lift to where I want. I hate toner. They are as are a fad and you don’t need them if it’s been bleached correct
They don’t do crap.
I have little to no damage.
I do go up more to the scalp. You gotta bleach till it’s where you want. Skip that toner !! Don’t need it. I would always wait weeks if not a month if it wasn’t a sparingly applications like bleach 3 and for sure 4 are always,

You look really good with this color! i'm going to dye the ends of my hair and your video helped!!!
Thank you so much!
I tried doing this last week with the "Blonde Brilliance" kit from Sally's, and it's fairly brassy (hence the reason I watched your video lol). You literally just saved my hair from a disaster thank you for the video it helped alot
I wanna try this out for myself but I'm scared lol
i don't blame you! don't feel pressured to try it but you could always start with a few small pieces to see if you like it. If you do try it good luck!
Lol i would be scared too if I was you because I did it, it took more bleaches and it ended up snapping and I had about 8 inch of hair cut off it 😩
Love this video💗 Thank you for your honesty! I’m also a VERY impatient person.
I am planing on doing this blonde ombre, and yours looks really good!😊
I love your hair color, I'm definitely going to try this
Thank you!
Great video! Your hair looks amazing, well done. I want to do my daughter's hair and your video is helping thanks

Excellent tutorial & advice! Great job, Nicole! :)
Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for this video! Been struggling to get my hair as blonde as yours. Can't wait to try, great video!
Thank you! Best of luck!
I Love what you did with your hair!
Better done and said than done of the high tech professional's 👍
Love this !!! Honestly doing my hair by your steps ! I have a few questions to ask about the steps !!
Suzette Solis sure thing. What do you want to know?
Super helpful/realistic video.
Your hair looks awesome! I'm about to experiment with mine, great tips! Thanks :)
+Kim Burke thank you! Good luck!
Thanks so much!
Looks natural. Nice job!
You look so much better with the blonde!!!
fantastic! i've done stage 1 and i was unsure what i needed to do next, thank you!! :)
youre welcome. thank you for watching and good luck!
Great job!! I’d have to agree and say this was one of the best I’ve seen on how to do this!
Gloria Jackson thank you!!
this looks absolutely incredible!!
Thank you it's exactly what I was envisioning!
+Emma Langhorne way to go!! Yes I think the key is to not get discouraged. It definitely takes time. Which is unfortunate since I'm so impatient haha
Omg I loved that warm blond.
That's my goal.. but you look great both ways .
It looks INCREDIBLE!
I love your color! Definitely the best transformation I have seen. I want to dye my hair but am very nervous it will turn out terrible 😕
I've definitely had some bad experiences with hair but some of them were the result of a salon. I like that hair is temporary. Good luck if you decide to go for it :)
The new color looks amazing on you! Totaly new person. I also like to change my hair color :)
Thank you so much!
This looks perfect 👌
Thank you so much!
You have a truly beautiful colour the result is amazing! I'mbtrying to decice which colour to get for myself and yours is really inspiring to me :)
Thank you so much! Good luck with whatever you choose!
I love the result! Thanks for posting.
My natural color is a level 6 ash so that might be part of it too.
you're hair looks amazing😍so helpful
Kayleigh Wack aw thank you so much!
Thanks, very helpful. Great video hun. Your hair looks beautiful.
Thank you so much!
I'm feeling inspired - this looks amazing. Just trying to find alternate products that are available in the U.K.!
Thank you! I know some of them are available online too, like amazon. Good luck!
wow you did an awesome job, well done!! Just got balayage done also and posted the process on my channel, but I got it done at my salon! Dont think i'd have the talent to do it myself but love watching these vids nontheless!
thank you!

if you ever go from dark to light again. I suggest using unheated coconut oil on your hair and then bleaching over it. helps a ton lol
I've heard that. I'll have to try it the next time I bleach. Thank you!
Nicole Rene yeah. I went from Rusty nail hair from the midlength to the ends/and ash roots to now Elsa hair 0.0
You look fabulous with blonde hair! I wish I could pull it off!
Wow, your hair looks great!
this looks so good on u! i recently just bought all the supplies to go blonde so im nervous but this video definitely helped more than others! i heard if u put coconut oil the night before u bleach and leave it on while u bleach it also lessens the damaging on your hair :)

Did you top it up after this? If so,how?
Looks really good, I can't believe you got that dark out of your hair
Your hair came out gorgeous!!! Great job!!!
Thank you!
your video is so useful and honest. thank you.
+謝侑蓉 thank you!!
Thank you for this tutorial. Great job. This looks beautiful.
Great results! When you started, was your hair dyed that dark brown with like a permanent box dye? and I'm wondering if you had many layers of different dyes to bleach through or was your hair pretty "virgin" in your before color?
I started with a color that I dyed. My hair is naturally light brown. I'm guessing I had 1-2 layers of color. I hope that helps.
+Nadia Montiel yes!! It's definitely a long process that can't be rushed. It's good you didn't get discouraged! Thanks for watching
greetings from Argentina!!
Nadia Montiel yay hello!!
You saved me SOOO much money with this video!!
And did you put tin foil for the other 2 times u bleached?
I did not use foil the second or third time. I probably should have since it would have lightened faster but i didn't. Thank you so much for watching.
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH thank you so much for making this video !
Youre very welcome, thank you so much!
Absolutely Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you so much!
Great video... your hair looks great.. thanks for sharing 😘😘
Tiffany Selden and thank you so much! I had a hard time finding tutorials when I did it so I wanted to share my experience
looks lovely im taking a go of it next week xx
Thank you and good luck!
unbelievable!!! what a difference!!!
Thanks for this! Super helpful and thorough! 👏🏻

Literally just bought everything you bought and I'm about to attempt it
A day with Bella yay good luck!!!
Nicole Rene turned out the way I wanted it !🌹 how do I get it lighter ? And what do I use
You make it seem look so easy
Great video. How come ur roots/ base is beige now? Not dark/ level 2 like u were originally?
Great instructional video! Surprised your hair is in such condition with the back to back bleaching.
Lisa Kallianidis me too lol
This looks so good! I really want to see if I could do this, how much did it cost you with the bleach and toner and everything?
Thank you! I'd say after I bought all the supplies I probably spent around $50. I also have left over for touch ups down the road.
You did such an amazing job with your hair and explaining everything so clearly. I bought just about everything on the list and I’m about to try it on myself. 😬 How long did you wait before bleaching it the second time?
Love this tutorial so much! Thank you!

You could just apply it everywhere. Boxed color won't lighten the dark hair, it'll mainly just alter the highlights.
You've inspired me to try this. I've never purchased bleach and toner. Is the toner process similar to the store box hair dyed? When you did the toner the first time your hair was warmer but the roots weren't brassy like when you bleached it. How did you keep it from being brassy? Or was it a little brassy?

+Pepper and Pine most store box dyes have toner and color/bleach in pre packaged amounts. I just think it's more convenient to have what I need at home and to measure myself. I never actually brought the bleach to my roots do they didn't get brassy. The got a little lighter from the toner. I hope that helps.
