    IT WORKED!!!! My hair was black and I used blond box dye to make it brown and it was SO brassy and orange. I tried this technique and I have ashy brown hair!!!! It’s amazing I love it. Thank you I followed the exact steps in the video but left it extra 5 more minutes cuz my hair was super orange

    I'm dark brown with more then 50% gray (since I was 15). Two years ago I've started coloring my hair light using shade 9G or 9N. Last year I took a picture of me next to the pond and my hair was all red. Today, I tried this toning process and it worked so nicely. No more stubborn red. Thank you so much. Dali

    Omg I bought this hair dye last night and a bottle of VO5 shampoo, and it worked!!! Thank you soooo much for posting this video. My hair was so orange and reddish I kept dying over it with a dark brown, and it did nothing but turn it even more redish orange with damage... My hair actually feels softer, it's toned !!! You have no idea how happy I am . thank you!!!!

    This is the kind of videos people NEED!! I am a professional, but know everyone can’t get professional products & 9 outta 10 times too impatient or don’t have the $$ so they go for box color. You did a GREAT JOB!! Showing what you can actually achieve without ruining the integrity of your hair. Can’t believe it worked, but you’re proof it did!! 😊

    It works magic. I finally tried it too. I am dying my hair dark blonde lately. (6-7) I used blue black and conditioner, and it is now pure blonde not a trace of orange. 👏👏👏👌☺

    Wow! Although I am fair and freckles and my hair is just brown, not a deep dark brunette like my olive skinned mother had, I have extra strong, stubborn red, brassy tones in my hair. This has been so helpful, as not even professional colorists seem to be able to de-brass my hair! Whoever was brave enough to put a shot of indigo hair color on as a de-braising toner was a hero! Thanks for sharing!

    THANK YOU so much, Lisa!🙏 🙌💜Your tutorial is so fantastic and easy to follow. I watched your instructions several times because I was worried and didn't want to mess up, and watching you do it helped me get courage. Then I went for it! Only difference was that I squeezed out 2 stripes of color paste instead of 3 because my hair is very damaged and porous and I figured I better play it safe. Kinda eyballed all the proportions as you did, mixed it all very well, saturated the hair and rinsed out within 5 minutes. Couldn't be happier with the results! SUCH a cool ashy and shiny result. I'm so grateful to you for teaching me how to do this and now I can use the technique whenever I need to. Oh yeah, and it's WAAAAAY cheaper than going to the salon. I'm sharing your video with all the people I know that could use it.

I used to keep my hair a beautiful blonde but after a divorce i just gave up. 😔 Now i have some products to use, and now I know what to try for the toning. Im sure I'm going to be orange after the first bleaching. So I'll wait till after the second round and try this for toning!! So Happy to have run into this by accident. 😊

The nape of my neck area especially has gotten very brassy.I went to a salon and the stylist wouldn't tell me which colors she used but I ended up getting more brassiness than I cared for. I hope you love the results!! Don't leave it on any longer than 5 minutes maximum and wash with regular white shampoo after you rinse it out then condition as normal. After the first time you will know what your hair needs if it's less or more dye and how long to leave it on. It is trial and error for each person. Good luck XO

    • @adrianmalagon1617
      @adrianmalagon1617 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This worked great for her because she was more of a brassy orange tone with a hint of red under tone. Like TiLi Beauty said, blue neutralizes orange. If you are more of a red tone go for a green base toner. If you can get your hands on Redken’s ash green color it works great. I also recommend using a demi permanent if your hair is more on the damaged side as it has minimal lift. Remember anything the lifts your hair “lightens it” will cause damage.

    I tried this for my very brassy hair after bleaching , it turned my ends blue/dark grey, not a good look on me, so then I had to do my diy fading mixture of lemon juice + vitamin c powder and shampoo and honey. that took me back to yellow , I probably left the blue rinsage in too long because I have very thick long hair and it takes a while to get it fully into all the hair. plus my ends are damaged and tend to grab to dye too much , I am glad it works for some just not for me.

I also wonder, at some point down the road after doing this, if I wanted to add some color to the lighter ends using a colored conditioner, such as Keracolor, do you think the color would mix with the blue that was deposited to make some other awful color?

    It looks gorgeous. You are so brave to do all of this by yourself. But, I am sure you are very savvy and do a lot of research. Just a quick question. Once your silvers grow back in at the roots, how will you treat those?

    Just bought this box kit and got home and realized I don’t have that L’Oreal shampoo. Only the conditioner. Do you think I’ll have the same results using the standard Pantene shampoo? It says it has sulfate as the second ingredient.

    My wife’s hair turned blue and dark. Is it because she bleached it same day? I saw this vid and was trying to fix the orange. She’s pissed. Not throwing shade. Just wondering what we might have done wrong.

    Wow! This is great, I wanna try! Refreshing to see a "new" method (at least to me with the amount of video on the subject). At first, I was like gotta see where this goes when you started with dark color....... Question- you mentioned the Ashe effect... could you recommend (2) alternate color choices vid wanting blonde w/o Ashe? I'm not looking for platinum but more like "old school" highlights, warm/honey/up to a "cool" blonde color? if that makes sense? I'm novice and don't know terms but just started doing some experimenting at home color. Thanks so much for video and inspiration!!

      Same for me. Especially since I wash often. Just do it again. This is not an actual dye job so it’s safe to do it as often as needed.

    Hi Lisa , it worked great on your hair.I am in Canada and I can not find the Color you used to tone your hair, I contacted garnier and apparently we don’t have this shade here .Do you think blue black 210 would give me the same result? Thank you.

    • @adrianmalagon1617
      @adrianmalagon1617 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This works great because she only used a small amount of color and than diluted it with shampoo. But their are easier ways to tone out brass. Most beauty supply stores like Sally’s have demi permanent toners that are more gentle on your hair than a box dye from the drug store. Make sure to pick up a toner that will neutralize the tone you don’t want. Purple toners will cancel out yellow, blue toners will cancel out orange “brassy” tones, and green toners will cancel out red tones.
