    Your reviews are some of the best I have ever seen. You are assessing 'things' like a real person would (i.e., should). Keep doing your thing. It's high quality, ... and appreciated.

      I’d better get on it then. Seems like I should get some kind of commission from Hunt 😆

    Nice review! DO these wheels ship from the UK or does Hunt have a US distribution now? Too many brands to choose from! Cheers from Laguna Hills!

    To swap-out standard bearings for ceramic requires new freehub also?...or can only swap-out the shell bearings?
    Good vid. Cheers

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  ปีที่แล้ว

      oz cycle! Love your channel. You can swap the standard cartridge for the ceramic ones in the same freehub. Ceramic bearings are still cartridges of the same dimension as standard bearings

    I am really keen on the Limitless 48 for my Sl7, glad you explained the ceramic speed, makes my decision easier to go the cheaper ez bearing option.

    Excellent review. Thank you for addressing your opinion on stock vs Hunt wheel performance and feel. Very comprehensive review that covered all of my questions!

    I love the sound of “angry bees” of the hubs. So I don’t have to use my bell when passing. LOL. After much trial and error i pump in 23-25 psi on my hunt 35. Gives me great comfort. I too have noticed when riding that sudden crosswinds tend to sway me. Great review video!

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! 23-25 sounds so low, but actually probably ideal for most

    Any plans to try out the Gravel Race Disc wheelset? The stats are insane in terms of how light they are. I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the first week of October.

    As usual another excellent well researched video. I have the Hunt 35's on my and my son's Diverge Sport Carbon and we love them. I am building another gravel bike, one part at a time, and was looking at the limitless 42's, but after doing a paper based trade study concluded that another pair of 35's would suit me fine. It wasn't the money as much as it was the facts that you stated about the type or rider who would benefit from these wheels and I concluded it wasn't me.

  • @angelortiz353

    I opted for the hunt limitless 48 with ceramic speed and i got to say love them and the control in this wheels is second to none so im sure the limitless 42 is just as good

    Wrote you the other day, but will try again here. Do you have any experience with the 700C Carbon 30 compared to the 35 X-Wide (optimized for 38-40mm). I will be running anywhere from 35-45mm tires and riding road and smoother gravel. I have Hunt’s Adventure 650b wheels for 50mm tires on rougher terrain. Nice presentation - clear and concise!

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just saw your other comment from yesterday - I'll respond here. Between the carbon 35s and the 30s - I don't think you'd feel an appreciable difference (although I haven't actually ridden the 30s). Both with take wide tires fine (you'll likely max out your frame clearance before getting a tire too wide for either rim). Slightly more aero on the 35s, slightly lighter on the 30s. If I'm being honest - between those options, I'd say aesthetics and personal preference will be the deciding factor.

    I’m in the market and down to DT Swiss, Hunt, Mavic. These look great weight and price wise. But the Novatech hubs are a bit of a hold up towards pulling the trigger. He says the hubs don’t matter because it’s just a rigid body to hold the bearings. But the rear hub mechanism is a main selling point of mavics and DT. So didn’t get that point. Maybe the novatecks are fine, but it’s a hold back.

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, Hunt have stopped using novatech on all their wheels very recently. They now use a hub designed in house.

    • @lukecico5155
      @lukecico5155 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBikeSauce thanks for the reply. Man, I’m still in analysis paralysis about getting either the hunt carbon 36, dt Swiss prc 1400, or the new mavic cosmic slr 40. Mavic may not be around much longer. Can’t get DT Swiss (thanks COVID). So that might be the decision right there. In any case, thanks again and love your channel. Cheers.

    Nice video, but what's the fuss about ceramic bearings? They are enormously expensive, for no discernable benefit.

      @@TheBikeSauce yes the DT Swiss does come with the 240 hubs. But it’s hookless.

  • @BikeLife154

    I have some Hunt carbon wheels and they’re good, however, their prices have gone up significantly in the last year which reflects their desire to be up with the big boys and their own assessment of how good they think they are! For those prices Novatec hubs no longer cut it for much higher prices!

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you mentioned it. Prices did go up, but they’re also not using Novatech hubs anymore (I just learned this). They’re using their own in house hub design now

    • @BikeLife154
      @BikeLife154 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheBikeSauce my 36 aero wide wheels have gone up $300 in a year or less! And although I think they’re good wheels I wouldn’t buy them for that price! I have a set of Scribe wheels who make lighter, cheaper and better wheels IMO. They provide their own ratchet hubs similar to DTswiss. They are so good I’ve just ordered a second set. I like Hunt but love Scribe wheels!

    Finally. Doubt there's another review of these as extensive as you.
    I really like them so far after 3 months of usage and I don't baby them as much as I thought I might. The obnoxious freehub acts as an alarm for walkers and other cyclists when I'm on busy pathways.
    Keep it up. Really like your objectiveness.

      I run a set of the Hunt Gravel X-Wides (alloy) but I find the loud hub is a GREAT replacement for a bell to alert walkers!

  • @outbackwack368
    @outbackwack368 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    These are in the running for a road set of wheels for my full suspension mountain bike, but I HATE loud hubs. I'm in the corner of wanting to hear my surroundings, not my bike. Can you opt for an Onyx hub?

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There’s no option to swap hubs from the company, but you can always have wheels rebuilt and laced to different hubs.
      For what it’s worth, I managed to quite my gravel 35s down quite a bit by lightly greasing the freehub pawls. If there’s enough interest I could do a quick video on it

      Tubeless specific tires for hookless rims. However, these are actually hooked rims. The hookless version will be released pretty soon I believe

  • @warrenyoung173

    Did you look at whether the spoke tension was consistent?

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should have addressed it. Yes, spoke tension remained proper through some abuse. I think with Hunt, it’s pretty much a given that spokes will be properly laced and pretensioned before shipping out

    • @warrenyoung173
      @warrenyoung173 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBikeSauce I think they've upped their game in recent years. My personal 35s measured respectably even out of the box - about 1/2 a unit on my Park Tool. Not so confident of the absolute tension for rear non-drive side. I'll need to have a look again in a few 100km more

    So went to the Hunt website. Confusing on how to order a set of wheels. This is the bike I have. www.specialized.com/us/en/diverge-expert-e5-evo/p/199687 Praxis Zayante carbon 1X , Shimano XT M8100, 12-speed I would like to order the non carbon wheels. What’s the trick to ordering these? Any help would be appreciated.

    • @TheBikeSauce
      @TheBikeSauce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No trick, just gotta choose the right hub standard, in your case Shimano microspline. They ship in batches so you preorder now and they ship when indicated on the website
