  • Come see all the tulips we ordered for spring 2024. Over 5000 tulip bulbs will be arriving on the farm soon this fall and we are really excited about all the varieties we chose. We also talk about why we chose what we did and discuss some smart business mindset things to consider when ordering tulips. #flowerfarming #tulip #oklahoma
We order from: Leo Berbee and Holland Bulb Company. Another great recommendation is Color Blends

I love the name of your channel ❤ Just found you guys today. My husband and I welcomed our first baby about 5 months ago, and out of nowhere, I have this huge desire to plant flowers and vegetables, particularly for her and her memories and teaching her to do so also. Please pray that I would do this and succeed for the love and glory of God and for the love of my family. ❤
Do you have any tips where to start? Thank you!
May God continue to bless you guys! Soli Deo Gloria!

I think you might see more doubles and specialty flowers in colder climates because Darwin & traditional tulips are frequently grown as landscape tulips and therefore are pretty common. When those customers go for tulip bouquets they want something a little different than what is growing in their yard. Great video and I enjoyed the discussion of what your customers want in a tulip.

Yes, a lot of people near where I am won't buy regular tulips. But honestly the doubles are so expensive. It's super hard to make a profit.

I’m in zone 7 Virginia- tulips are super easy to grow.

That’s great! But unfortunately it is not just the zone that indicates ease of growing. Many other condition factors matter

Looking forward to your tulip planting video. Have just ordered 5,000 bulbs and will most likely order another 1,000 of doubles. Still watching from France on vacation. Back to the flower farm in Ireland in a few days. Am looking forward to getting back to it x Enjoy your break

Sounds like a great plan and I enjoy seeing what you’ve picked! I need to order for my own home garden so I wrote down a few to consider. I have purple and yellows in my front yard and then back yard around my pool is red, yellow and orange. I love tulips and plan to plant more than I did last year 🤭

I've seen the Queen of Night and other very dark tulips paired in landscapes with very pink tulips, and the color combination is striking. A mixed bouquet of these two colors might sell very well if you're in a market where people tend to avoid dark tones, especially in spring.

I don't come up with any Holland Bulb Company with a google search. Could it be the same as Holland Bulb Farm? But I don't see any for 20 cents/bulb, even in the mixes.

Wow so interesting, I am in Canada, near Montreal, and I couldn't sell your selection. My customers have singles in their gardens, so I can only generate interest with unique doubles and parrots. I add just a couple of singles in unusual colors (like Queen of the night) to temper the cost of the bouquet, but I can leverage a higher price overall for my tulip bouquets (28$CAN for 12-14 stems) than for my summer flowers (20$). I am trialing Dutch Iris this year, to fill the May gap, they are very affordable bulbs (0.15$CND for a mix) and I just put them inground at the same time as the tulips, I am very curious to see whether my customers like them. And whether florists like them. Thanks for sharing your plans!

I have an off topic question. I noticed you made new flower beds with fabric liner & then cut out openings. Why did you choose that method over cardboard to cover the weeds & compost on top of that to plant in? Thanks!

    • @CoramDeoFarm

The weeds are way too aggressive here for that method

@@Elisabeth_Vidgrain I am French Canadian. I was unsure if the n was a hard one like "Bretagne" or a soft one "ñ". D'ailleur j'adore les différents accents que l'on retrouve dans les différentes parties de la France comme dans le film Jean de Florette ! Ou the "gn" est délicieusement utilisé.
