  • Come check out and see how our year two Oklahoma flower farm is doing! We are just at the very beginning of our summer flowers bursting into bloom. Tons of sunflowers, zinnias, snapdragons. All the best of the summer flowers. See how things are looking, what is going well, and what is stressing me out lol

    Beautiful flower farm! As a flower farmer I could not help myself but to cut from the show row 😂

    I'm so glad I found your channel. I love your flower farm. I was hoping to open my flower stand this summer but had a slow start when dealing with pneumonia this spring. Fingars crossed for next summer though.

    Pretty amazing farm you have there - like zero weeds! I'm constantly pulling weeds from my flower beds.

    I'm an Aussie and in some areas the flies can be a nuisance but as far as bugs go there are not that many causing problems. I love your garden and hope the bugs don't affect the flowers too much.💐💐💐

    What size fabric are you using? How wide of beds are you planting and how wide of aisle are you leaving?
    Some say plant 4ft wide on 6ft fabric but then they seem to grow together and close the aisles

    It is soo hard waiting for things to bloom. I only have a garden but I keep thinking next week and then maybe next week. Eventually I will have a lot of flowers but it is so hard to wait.

    Hi there! First year flower farmer here! I’ve really enjoyed watching your journey so far. Just curious, what is your pest control regime? I’m located in central Georgia where it’s very “buggy” too. Would love some tips and tricks. Also, do you not have any deer pressure in the fields? I’m starting to get nibblers on my sunnies😔

    • @CoramDeoFarm
      @CoramDeoFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! Last year I completely lost the bug battle later in summer. It was super discouraging. We are trying to stay organic so options are limited. Currently I use a pyrethrin based spray and also Bt on rotation. We aren’t overrun yet but I am hoping to stay on top of it. Also, no deer. We are too exposed

    • @CoramDeoFarm

      Eh they did ok. Not terrible and the plants survived but we won’t be doing that method again

    Very nice. Do you pull the weed barrier at end of season? I want mine to look as nice as yours. I'm 8a in Northwest Wash. And the grass is killing me. Thanks for your great info.+

    • @CoramDeoFarm
      @CoramDeoFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we do. It is a good amount of work but since we only do it once a year (pull all the fabric up), it’s not too bad. We pull up and store. Then we cover the fields in silage tarp so the weeds can’t keep growing. Then we put back down in the spring after tilling etc…

    I have a question on your wobblers. Do you just simply put in the ground ans hook up a hose to them? How good is the water pressure. My 3rd year and opened another flower field away from my farm. It's a lot to hand water both. Takes up about 5 hours everyday. 😅 thanks

    • @CoramDeoFarm
      @CoramDeoFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically yes. They are hooked up to our irrigation system so I am not sure about a hose but possibly? Pressure is fine for us as it comes from the main waterline.

    Hey, this is William from church. Will you add green houses in the future, or do fields work best for flowers?

    • @CoramDeoFarm
      @CoramDeoFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey William! We will add a high tunnel in the fall and use for spring flowers. Tunnels are definitely ideal to help with spring wind, rain, hail pressure but are useless in the summer with the heat. So we will use just for spring.

    Hello what is the problem growing Dahlias in Oklahoma? Thx

    • @CoramDeoFarm
      @CoramDeoFarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mary! The main issues are our heat (we can often stay about 100 degrees for weeks on end), we get really dry so have to irrigate a lot, and we have really high bug pressure.

    Hello from Belgium (Europe). May I ask if you grow rudbeckia? Because if your customers love sunflowers, they must love the rudbeckia Indian Summer. They are easy to grow (bloom 3 months and you can wack them off to get a second flush.

      Also, my last frost is the first week of June and first frost usually second week of October 7000ft Northern New Mexico. I don’t have a weed problem so I haven’t been using the black plastic to plant in. But, would the plastic help to warm the soil so plants get started better in late May and early June?

    I don't understand the "expensive real estate" when you have so much room between your rows and tons more land you could grow on.. its not like you have limited space.

    • @CoramDeoFarm
      @CoramDeoFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bc it is costs money to till, compost, drip, landscape fabric, and net every single row we grow on. We choose to have wide room between rows for better bug and disease management in summer. There’s a finite amount of space that budget and time can manage. It’s not simply about pure acreage
