    I appreciate that you CONFIRMED that Bass eat big swimbaits xD
    For all the people skeptical of using big swimbaits saying it's impossible, that's perfect proof!

    Excellent work! Informative and concise. These techniques apply similarly to big Southern Flounder in the St. Johns river.

    Im fishing Kentucky lake every day this coming week for the high school nationals. Im from Spartanburg SC and we went to this bait store in Kentucky and he told us to use swimbaits and shakey heads with these long worms. H&H guns and outdoors or something like that; have you heard of that store?

    Hi! Nice video!
    When should I use soft plastic swimbaits and when I should use hard plastic swimbaits like Deps or Megabass I-Slide 185. I mostly target spotted bass.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      WarEagleTheBest It varies man. But generally speaking, I use soft plastic ones with heavy jighead when I want to fish deep. When I'm fishing shallower and looking for a big bass reaction bite like around the spawn or again in the fall, I will go with those big glide baits and often around cover like laydowns, rock piles, docks and stumps or grass.

    I picked up some berkley slim shads and paired them with a 1/2 oz 5/0 hook i fish in the North East so should i be primarily throwing this when bass are schooling or can I try and isolate a few larger bass on key structure and such?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kayak Fishings Finest I fish this type of swimbait almost exclusively on deep structure. Deep underwater points, humps and creek channel turns are where I'm mostly fishing. It can be good in the winter as well as in the summer. That's the two times I really like this setup. - Jason

  • @dance4u850

    Why do you need a 7ft 8 inch rod? Is it for leverage reasons/? Please explain cuz I would think it would be only good in open water situations.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Right on, these are big baits on long casts so it's important to be able to quickly take up slack and drive hooks home. A long rod also assist in lobbing heavy swimbaits and controlling the fish once hooked, you just have some much more leverage over the fish with a longer rod.

  • @hiimdrummer03
    @hiimdrummer03 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    What gear ratio on baitcasters do you reccomend for these baits?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      hiimdrummer03 I like a 6.2:1 ratio. Too low a gear ratio and it's hard to catch up with a fish that charges the bait from behind and pushes it to you. Too fast and your swimbait will rise up off the bottom on a steady retrieve.

  • @evanlayne23
    @evanlayne23 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see down in the comments about the 17 lb flourocarbon. what line do you recommend for larger glides and swimbaits? like bbz1, Topwater rats, and 5 oz slow sinking swimbaits. Thanks!

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Blazinxtreme I've got into throwing more 20 and 25-pound copolymer with big baits. Some guys swear by big fluoro. Others say braid because they feel like the stretch of mono causes them to lose fish. I feel like with those big giant hooks and pretty stiff rods, the little stretch of 25-pound copolymer absorbs more and you can fight a big fish a little better. And you will have less line issues in wind with 25-pound mono then you will with braid or fluoro.

    • @evanlayne23
      @evanlayne23 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wired2Fish ironically enough, I bought some 25 lb p-line copolymer today and spooled up my revo winch reel and threw on a spro rat and nearly cast it off due to the fact the line is so thick, there's not a ton of line on the spool. It also seemed very hard to reel in even at low speeds. thinking about going down to 20 lb. thanks

    Next time just try to get a shot of what's in the bass's throat. Don't pull its food from its throat again. The bass spend a lot of energy getting that shad and you've just deprive it off its meal. That shad could've lasted the bass for days.

      GWM Krank King The bass still had to chase that shad down. He ain't the only big one down there that's got to eat, nor is he the biggest. Respect the fish or you ruin the sport.
