- Hello lovelies, today I am sharing five vintage Avon cult classic perfumes that you can still buy today. I have been a collector of the vintage Avon perfume bottles for a few years now and became more fascinated with Avon as I started researching different video ideas for this channel. I have an obsession with vintage cosmetics especially ones that you can still buy today. I started diving deep into my Avon research and connected with an Avon rep named Betty who has been selling Avon for 30 years now, and her mom also sold Avon. I wanted to see what it would be like to be an Avon rep, so I decided to try selling Avon myself, and I love it so far. There are so many amazing products, and they have been around for such a long time compared to other cosmetic brands. Avon has been around for 130 years, and the first products that they sold were perfume under the name The California Perfume Company.

1. Sweet Honesty (1973)

Sweet Honesty captures the essence of youth and femininity since it's an introduction to the market in 1973. Flirty and intensely floral, it recaptures a simpler time for many. Sweet Honesty makes a great spring, daytime fragrance and is recommended for a younger crowd. It is also known for it's soft, yet long-lasting aroma. If you love a soft powdery floral smell, I would highly recommend it.

Timeless has stood the test of time since it was inception in 1974. Woody and down-to-earth, this perfume is a perfect daily fragrance with long-lasting notes. This perfume reminds me of a lighter Chanel no 5 with a sweet woodsy note while finishing into a clean powdery smell. It has a very luxurious and vintage appeal to the scent that reminds me of the 1920s.

Odyssey is one of my favorites because it smells like a tropical ocean cruise. It is fresh, sweet and intoxicating. It is a ladylike vacation in a bottle.

My mother was an Avon Lady back in the day, and as a little girl I sometimes went door-to-door with her. She let me ring the doorbell while she said, "Avon calling!" 😊 I remember a lot of those fragrance names.
I loved the little lipstick samples!

I also remember the little sample lipsticks from Avon in the 70's. They were little tiny containers. My Mom had several of them back then.
Odyssey is the perfume my grandmother always wore. She lived out in the country and bumblebees would follow her around like puppies when she wore it. I keep meaning to get a bottle.
Odyssey is awesome. Timeless and sweet honesty are good. Topaz is my favorite.
Around 1974/75 everybody wore Sweet Honesty in high school.

My best friend and I wore it until we discovered Love's Baby Soft and Musks by Jovan and Houbigant (I was a musk person).

When I was as young as 6 or 7, the Avon Lady would come to my house all dressed up with her classy case of goodies and sit at the kitchen table with my mom. I'm sure I flitted around, trying to score those little lipstick samples. Sweet Honesty was one of my 1st fragrances, but I was more of a Charlie girl. Mom always had Skin So Soft in the house. Fond memories!
Oh yes, the little lipstick samples. They came in a box. Our next door neighbour was the local Avon lady. Happy memories, rifling through her samples and devouring the catalogue trying to work out what to buy.
Sweet Honesty and Love's Baby Soft were THE scents of the 70's. Our mom's wore Candid & Timeless which were more like Charlie
Imari is a really interesting, classic Avon scent from 1985 if you haven’t tried it. It’s super flowery, juicy and spicy. It makes me think of the an old time southern belle.
I love Imari........my go to fragrance.
I love Imari Seduction, gets plenty of compliments also.
I always loved Sweet Honesty and can still remember the commercial jingle. It was aimed at older teens and young adults. Then I did wear Candid my freshman and sophomore years of college. After that I wore Far Away.... growing up in very rural northern Iowa (2 hours south of MPLS) we waited for the Avon Lady to come! It was so exciting. In high school my older sisters became the Avon Lady and oh my then we bought samples, they did all the driving and selling, I was too little, but ordered lipstick samples, green mascara and all sorts of things. What great scent memories you bring back! I'm already on the site and will probably order up some Sweet Honesty. Wonder if it will smell at all like the original formulation.

Now alot of Avon representatives now called, don't give brochures out if you just look. I miss the door to door Avon ladies.
I remember Topaz, which came in a yellow bottle with a large faux topaz on the cap. I really liked Hawaiian White Ginger.

Scent of topaz takes me to my mother who wore it all the time. Sadly she is no longer here with me.

Odyssey's my favorite. I think Avon should add to their classics: Haiku. It's beautiful. It was introduced in 2001 and remains so popular. I think Avon's fragrances are a great value.

Sweet honesty and candid are still my go to perfumes
It amuses me that scents from the 70’s to the 90’s would be considered “vintage”. I have a friend who back in the 70s would sprinkle Sweet Honesty bath powder on her mattress pad before putting clean sheets on. I tried it and it was a lovely clean smell when I snuggled down to sleep!
Ok so I wonder why these truly much older fragrances are never mentioned: Cotillion, Sonnet, Occur, Roses. My favorite scent which came and went fast in the 80’s was Ariane. Everytime I find a fragrance I truly love, it disappears sadly. I was a very young Army wife in the early 80s when I sold Avon door to door. Horrible experience! But I did have a few steady customers who loved Odyssey. That was my biggest seller!
Remember Sonnet also, loved this scent .
I loved Occur. It was my very favorite.

I love the really old Avon like Cottilion, Topaz, Here’s My Heart and Occur. I remember them on my moms dressing table.
I REMEMBER OCCUR,HERE'S MY HEART,TOPAZ,TO A WILD ROSE,PERISIAN WOODS.I GUESS THESE'S ARE ANTIQUES.
My favorite was Here's My Heart I'm still looking for it. I found it once in 2001 they brought back for short while. I wore it in 1959!!

I can only speak for myself! I love "TIMELESS" because it smells like Royal Secret by Germaine Monteil and another Avon favorite of mine is "TOPAZ" Now, in reality, Avon 'Unforgettable" is the equivalent of Yves Saint Laurant "OPIUM"
You're right! No wonder I always thought that Avon ladies smelled better than the women working the perfume counters in department stores!
Reminds me of my childhood. Everyone had a different scent in the family. Those were happy days. Need to start my collection soon

Too ... emerald, Charlie , white shoulders , there’s so many classics still sold today . Before all the kmarts closed it was a great place to find vintage perfume . 💜 loving your channel ! Helps me unwind before bed .

also Guerlain. I love love Mitsouko (1919) and still gorgeous. It’s my first intro into that house. Of course, you could do little decants from Surrender to Chance online. 😄
My mother wore Woodhue in high school and loved Faberge Straw Hat in the 60s.
All the perfumes you described, I loved them,wore Charlie in my twenties. Remember Jontue ,Ombre Rose , Cachet smelled beautiful. I don't know if you had a Longs Drugstore, they carried all of these vintage perfumes . That drugstore closed years ago . Avon perfumes were and still are the best . 💕💕💕

I remember Sweet Honesty and I still like it. Bath and Bodyworks "Moonlight Path" is similar.
My mom used to buy Avon all the time in the 1970s and '80s...Timeless came out in 1974,and it was her favorite. I still buy it today from Avon's online store. I always get compliments when I wear it,it does have the vintage scent of a expensive perfume. It's a really nice powdery scent mix of bergamont,jasmine,and patchouli.

I always loved Sweet Honesty and Timeless. My Grandma always wore Timeless and would put it on me before church. Both my stepmom and aunt were avon ladies.

I remember Pearls & Lace , also , I purchased lots of these perfumes in my twenties, and the older ones like Cotillion , Bird of Paradise , Here's my Heart, Sonnet , Somewhere were worn by my aunts , grandmother and mother . I love all these perfumes from the past .
My grandmother loved Timeless. I remember Millennia. It was blue and sickly sweet.

I loved Avon since the 1960's. I wore Somewhere and To a Wild Rose, as well as Brocade, Topaze and Bird of Paradise in the 1970's. Bird of Paradise had such a nice bottle. I currently have a bottle of Far Away, which is definitely a perfume with excellent sillage and longevity. It outperforms many expensive scent, e.g. those by Chanal and Guerlain. I wished I could find Topaze again.

I loved some of the real oldies and wish they would bring them back without any new formulation ... Persian Woods (such a beautiful reddish slick bottle) and Cotillion!
Avon didn't make it, but Woodhue was nice.

I recently purchased Odyssey, and I must say I really enjoy wearing it! I initially bought it because it came out the same year I was born. I agree with you that it definitely has a "vacation" vibe to it. It's rather sunny smelling, kind of like laying on a beach somewhere and enjoying all the different smells wafting by (I can't quite put my finger on the exact scent, either, but it's a great summer fragrance!). I plan to get Timeless and Sweet Honestly next! Thank you for the great video!

Sweet honesty was my first "big girl" cologne. A super sweet, clean, warm scent. I've bought it as an adult several times just for the nostalgia

In NZ we didn't get sweet honesty. Mesmerize and Imari were the ones we overdid as teens. Mesmerize had the best cobalt bottle. I miss it. Avon is no longer in NZ... bit of a bummer for all the representatives.

Because I'm such a girly girl & have a love for all things Vintage just like you. 😉 I just ordered online a Vintage Avon Sweet Honesty perfume in the birdbath bottle with the little Blue bird on the edge sipping water. It's new & never been opened before & with the box! I can't wait to get it! 🤣 I also ordered the California Perfume Co. That comes in the blue tin with flowers in it. It has such a romantic look about it. I'm obsessed 😳 I just also received a Bud Hastings book "Avon Collectibles Price & Guide Book". I've already checked what I want to try & find. I just love beautiful little perfume bottles like you. Especially with flowers on the label & packaging. So I'm well on my way to building up my collection. I remember when Odyssey came out, lol! Sweet Honesty and Odyssey were my scents as a teenager and young adult, and still love the scents. Our neighbor was an Avon lady so we had a lot of Avon. Wish they were still packaged in the original bottle designs. So I guess I'm vintage now, lol!

I thought Odyssey was much older. I love Timeless & Candid! I sold Avon for a short time after high school. It was fun!
These are fantastic fragrances and I still use them today. What I really miss though, are the beautiful, unique bottles they used to have for each fragrance. Now the bottles all look the same. Really loved the Odyssey bottle; it was tall and angled with a tall silver cap and a frosted bottle. Wish they would bring it back.
Hi Laura! I do like Avon perfumes. I wore Sweet Honesty in high school. I had a bottle of Timeless ( the bottle was cut short of like a tall diamond with a gold cap) so gave it to a friend and she had a lot of boys asking her for dates whenever she wore it. I wore Odyssey in the 1980s and liked how clean and soap-like it smelled.

Jade, you will be so disappointed! I wore Sweet Honesty in high school as well. I wore Candid later. When I saw Avon re-release Sweet Honesty, I bought it immediately. 2019 SH doesn't smell half as good as 1976 SH. The chemical composition is different and doggone it! You get a hint of the scent but something (the key note) is missing.
I loved Occur and Odyssey. I wore them in High School.

Thank for your talking about the Vintage Miss Dior Perfume that came out in 1947. I found a used bottle of it on E-Bay and I ordered it. I was born in 1947 and that perfume will mean something for me. I purchased two other fragrances today and they are Intimate that was a signature scent of my Mom's so I can think of her when I get it as I don't remember the fragrance and the other perfume is Femme by Marcel (that is my Dad's name) Rochas and I already have a small perfume bottle of it and it smells so good, and I am getting the 3.4 oz. EDT of that soon. I have a pretty good collection of fragrances that I started to collect about three months ago, and wear the fragrances even at home which elevates my mood. I also purchased a few Avon fragrances lately, and I used to like Timeless and I have the body cream of that which I purchased a few years ago and it still smells good and I wear it sometimes. I like your vintage fragrances and your vintage other collection. I love thinking of my past life, and my daughter found the six seasons of DVD's of Upstairs, Downstairs that I used to watch with my parents in the 70's and it brings back memories when I started watching Season One lately.

Timeless, Topaze, and Candid are my favorites! Timeless is strong at first but it settles beautifully on my skin.
I was an Avon Lady, briefly, when I was a Sophmore in high school, the year they brought out Timeless. I still wear Candid.
Sweet Honesty was my first perfume at 12. I also used Timeless. There were others like Loves Baby Soft in regular and lemon. Also Charley was a vintage and Emeraulde.
Odyssey smells AMAZING.

I wore Sweet Honesty and Love's Baby Soft in my early teen years, then I moved onto Chanel No. 5, and now I'm crazy about the scent of Jasmine, my Momma liked Candid, so I now just have to find an Avon representative and give these perfumes a try.

I also wore Sweet Honesty & Loves Baby Soft in my teens too but I also wore a Perfume sold at the Drugstore in a kind of pale blue colored bottle - I think it was called ____?____ & Lace ... the front of the bottle had the look of Lace - do you happen to remember / know of the one I am talking about ?

I luv Avon my mom wore it I still buy the moisturizer Nutura my 1st perfumes my mom bought me as teen there discontinued but I loved them. Floral fantasy, Pearls and Lace, and Mesmerize there great I wish they would bring them back.
