In today's pottery time lapse video, I show the process of making this pretty green jar on the pottery wheel. I show the process of throwing, trimming, and glazing this piece. It was my first time turning a closed form into a jar, but I think it turned out pretty well!

I sure appreciate you sharing your skill and technique. I like the shape you made. I appreciate you going from start to finish. I am making these for grandkids for Christmas. I have four done so far, but just the closing of the form. I am not sure yet if I like the forms I have done. I will have to double check on Monday when I go back into the studio I go to. I will need to make 30 to get 22. You do such beautiful work!

sara excellent demo, video, and your technique is great , Thanks for sharing
I have a question how do you keep the top and bottom from sticking or do you fire them separately....

Thank you! Sometimes I fire jars together and just leave the area that they touch unglazed. For this piece though, I fired them separately and just left the bottom rim of the lid that touched the kiln shelf unglazed.

May I ask if the wobbling of the lid on top of the body has caused any problem to the connection of both?

Of course! Not that I can tell from using it. I was mainly trying to thin out the walls of the lid so that it could sit over the raised side of the lip which keeps it in place. It did not need to be very exact and centered for that to happen.

Thanks! I layered dark green, textured turquoise, and storm from Amaco on this piece.

If you always throw inward towards the center of the pot it would be WAY easier. Just saying.😃
