Blox117 maybe some day something will happen to you and you'll need a service dog . I'll give you my address so you can show up and I promise you one of us will need one
Not really obvious why this chap NEEDS a service dog. He has one and of course businesses should obey the law on that but having a prothetic limb seems too little a reason for the dog. Parking perhaps, that seems reasonable but what purpose does the dog serve, what service does it provide. It may be perfectly legitimate but there is not enough information, beyond the victim card being played, to support the chap with the dog.
@@Andy80F did you fucking stop to think he can't squat or bend to pick up something he's dropped? Maybe since he's a vet and lost his leg in the war? Plus maybe just maybe he has nightmares and PTSD so bad that he needs the dog to do deep pressure theropy as well as other things? Use your fucking brain moron.
@@youtubingprick4036 it keeps people like me and him from being illegally discriminated. They also learn to either accept the federal law or go ahead and shut down.
I've had yellow labs for over 50 years now, keeps me from losing it on a regular basis. PTSD is devastating, my dogs keep me focused on what is right. I'll never be with out one.❤️
Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I used to work at a resort as head of security and when a woman showed up for check in one evening she had with her a service dog. I do not know what her disability was, but the fact that she had a certified service dog with her was enough for me. I gave her a room on the ground floor to make things easier for her and the dog. Later that night a person came to me requesting that the dog be removed from the hotel because she simply did not like dogs. After about 10 minutes of trying to explain to her that the service dog had every right to be in the building, I realized that this woman just couldn't be educated on the fact that this dog wasn't going anywhere. I politely gave her directions to another hotel and that would be (as far as I concerned) the only solution to HER problem. She complained to my boss about it the next day and he backed me up 100%. I am a Vietnam Veteran with PTSD issues and I have a PTSD dog for a companion, she is not certified, but no one has ever given me any problems when she accompanies me when I feel the need to have her with me. Again, thank you for your service, JOB WELL DONE.
jay dee I thought there was no actual way to get a service dog certified, considering you can do all of the training yourself and you don't need documentation/apparel to even signify that your dog is a service dog in the first place.
Blox117 The only nutcase here is you Mr. Having a disability isn't a person's fault or choice. But stupidity is, I wonder why so many choose to be like so?
All I can say is thanks you!!! Lost my service dog looking for new one but... Thanks for standing up for all us vets and people who need these great dogs.
it's people who take their dogs to stores and say they are service dogs that cause this mess so when people like this veteran who actually need them are accused of fraud
@@theresahall8206 - That's bullshit. There actually ARE legal processes to become certified for Public Access, but it is ILLEGAL to ask for paperwork. That'd be like asking somebody in a wheelchair for their license.
I used to have a boss who was just that idiotic. Way back, before ADA came into being, we also have Section 504 of the 1973 Rehab Act. I used to work at a university and we were expected to accommodate all types of disabilities. A student was accepted to the university who was both deaf and blind. She also had a guide dog to be her eyes for her. Common sense should have told everyone that this deaf-blind student, with a seeing eye dog, had a legal right to accommodations. My then-boss started making comments about not allowing the guide dog onto campus. I asked the dumb boss, how do you expect a deaf-blind student to navigate the campus without her guide dog? Dumbass announces that the student would be forced to use a white cane instead! I asked the dumbass boss how they were going to explain THAT in court when we get sued for unlawful discrimination under Section 504?!?!? Dumbass gave the glassy eyed blank stare! Duh!! The dog stayed!
@@patmccoy8758 People like him should be educated on disabilities, Service Dogs are not only for the Blind. They can be for people who have mobility issues, ADHD, Autism.....This is why I shake my head to those who think they know what is best.
I have a Service dog for my epilepsy. she can detect my seizures like four minutes before they happen. she barks hysterically and pats my leg to alarm me, then i prepare myself for one. I've taken her everywhere here in San Antonio where i live. i've had some problems in a Target in Austin once and sometimes a place in San Antonio but really nothing that i can't handle. My Asia is my Service dog who is my protector and she is my Best friend. i have to fight for not just my right but my Asia right to be by my side. Anywhere i Go.I feel safe and independent with her at my side. I remember watching this on the news and I felt proud of that vet who spoke up because some people are just idiots.
You fought for this country and now your fighting again shame on America. The public needs to realize these dogs help the vets cope and survive. Stand proud vets we love your support for helping your country
I am currently working with a trainer to train my service dog. I take him everywhere as my service dog in training. I have never had anyone question me. I am floored to see how many people are still so ignorant about service dogs and the laws that protect the rights of the owners to bring them out in public. I hope that i never have to have such an encounter with ignorance. Sorry that anyone has to endure such an ordeal.
I, too, have a dog from the same organization. I'm very hard of hearing -- something that does not show. Am fighting now with one restaurant in town over access at lunch time. I handed the owner the rules, he copied them. And still argues that we make others in the restaurant uncomfortable. Yes, those who said no should be embarassed. As the vet (thank you, thank you -- I married a vet) said, not all disabilities show.
I'm blind, and I've had a guide dog. To all disabled people, just because you're not blind like me, that doesn't mean your dog doesn't provide service as valuable as guide dogs do. All disabled people deserve to be out and about with their service dogs, no matter what their disability is! And, to all businesses? It's not ok to ask a disabled person to disclose their disability in order to receive service with their service dog by their side! That, if you ask me, is an invasion of one's privacy!
Sue firstly thank you so much for all you’ve given. You fought the good fight and now continue, I’m so sorry to hear how you and your most beautiful pup were treated.. unfortunately ignorance is behind most … you are now fighting a fight to recognise and educate people to understand service dogs and their owners requirements … twice a battle twice a hero , we have had the same thing happen here in Australia with our vets , being refused taxi rides. Being asked to leave eateries… unbelievable but unfortunately true… all the best for you both and a salute to you both from a fellow soldier … 💔🐾💔
thank you for what you did for all of us we are all very proud of you and those ignorant fools should be a shame to treat a veteran for so poorly you need to give the name of the coffeehouse and where it is so everyone stays away from it forever until they start treating our vets with respect
How can people still be so ignorant abt service dogs in 2018? I've been a server for over 20yrs and have never seen anyone turned away from the establishment where I was working. I would be honored to wait on a veteran with his/her service animal.
it's easy to spot a non-service dog because they are not trained like real ones are. this man's dog is extremely well behaved and is obvous she is a real service dog. business need to educate thier staff and stop thinking only blind people need service dogs.
It is absolutely not always obvious that an animal is a service animal... a dog can be trained to do a task to serve a person with a disability and still not be perfectly behaved in all aspects.
Chipwhitley274 there is a difference between a service dog that can go anywhere and a emotional support animal. A SERVICE DOG has to be well mannered and go threw crazy testing before being labeled a service animal. A emotional support animal dosnt have to go threw the same training but it is not allowed to go EVERYWERE with you. I worked at a animal shelter that would fully train certain dogs to be service dogs. it is a crazy amount of training and the dogs act perfectly. but we would also trained dogs to be Canine Good citizens or emotional support animals which can't go everywhere with you in public but can bypass the no animals clause in an apartment.
INFURNITE PURRSIBILITY, "there is a difference between a service dog that can go anywhere and a emotional support animal." What gave you the impression that I didn't understand that? I guess you missed the part where I said: " dog can be trained to do a task to serve a person with a disability ..." That is the distinction which separates an emotional support animal with a service animal. "A SERVICE DOG has to be well mannered and go threw crazy testing before being labeled a service animal." That is a lie. There is no certification or testing that is required by law to establish such a standard As long as a service animal is trained to do a task related to a disability... they do not have to be perfectly behaved. That is not to say they can be disruptive, destructive, aggressive or violent... If a dog is aggressive, or is constantly barking, or is damaging property, or harming people etc... then they can be ordered to leave... just like any person who behaves in such a manner. But a dog can be distracted, sniff things, try to get attention from people, pull on a leash or any number of reasons that would cause them to not be considered "well mannered"... and still legally be considered a service animal if they are trained to do a task to mitigate a disability.
Chipwhitley274 I'm really ignorant about what is legal for a service dog. I know someone who has a dog and they put a vest on it and call it a service dog and they bring it into businesses like stores where you normally can't bring dogs. This dog was not trained at all it's just their pet. They love their dog and it is nice but it has no special training. So when I see this I can see why people would be hesitant in believing a dog as a service dog like the dog in this video. Personally I wish we could bring our dogs into more businesses a ND areas. FYI Bar Harbor ,Maine and Acadia National Park are very dog friendly
Merri Cat Yeah, that's not a service dog. And to reply to chip, it's in the guidelines of the ADA that a service dog must basically be perfectly behaved. The reason for this is so the dog will always be listening for commands from its handler. That being said, service dogs in training are allowed to enter businesses as fully trained service dogs are, but their behaviors might be a little rough. I believe the ADA recommends at least 30 hours of training in public areas like stores. That would be the only circumstance where a real service dog would be slightly misbehaved. A dog that is out of control with an owner that is making little to no effort to control the dog is not a service dog, going by the ADA guidelines. They are the only legal force behind these animals and, from what I understand, there are 17 states where it's illegal to fake a service dog (which would be a badly behaved dog with a fake vest/documentation and a lying owner) and more are working on it. So, yes, there is a legal backbone to this shit.
I have a service dog for debilitating anxiety disorders, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, sensory processing disorder, tachycardia, headaches, allergies and GERD with a hiatal hernia. She’s trained to alert and respond to ALL accordingly. I’ve gained my independence and safety back with her. At first, I was terrified to go into public. I can’t stand crowds, loud noises, strange textures, bright lights, and heat. I used to shut down or vomit depending on the situation. Now I can go everywhere knowing if something silent is about to occur. She’ll alert so I can get to safety.
U did very well for ur country.. sacrificing ur life for the convenience of the people in ur country are commendable..n now ur pup have the honour serving u sir..a millons thank u couldnt be enough for u or the other veterans.. not even enough for the service pups retired or still in the war zone.. Im ashamed of the citizens around u.. I SALUTED U SIR.. GRATITUDE THAT WE OWE U A LIFETIME SIR... MAY U BOTH ALWAYS BE BLESSED..😇😇😇
name the coffee shop, name the hotel chain please.. I will never give these companies another cent. Shame of them. You have no reason to be embarrassed but they do ! Blessings and thank you for your service, I am so sorry for their ignorance.
It's amazing how much respect and love that is in comments sections so far and every service dog video I've seen there's been someone more than one person actually that has a lot of good nothing but good things to say about the guy or girl with a veteran dog and have a bunch of words that just bring nothing but confidence to whoever is reading it but for some reason outside of the comment section there's always that one person that bullshits that man or woman with the service dog sadly I've never met anybody that has a service dog in person yet I hope I do in the future but all I have to say is don't be embarrassed about anything if you have scars or missing limbs there's nothing to be embarrassed about nothing at all and having a service dog says that completely God Bless America🐕🇺🇸🇺🇸
The problem is that many people have abused service and emotional support dogs that there is now a huge backlash against all dogs. Just yesterday I went somewhere to eat and these people had one of those fake vest on their dogs. But that was not even my issue. The issue was that they had the Damn dog SITTING ON THE TABLE!!!! it was a Min pin, but it was just so unhygienic and they are the people that make it hard for people who actually need service dogs or are just good an sensible owners.
I’m a disabled veteran with a service dog and can’t even count the number of times I’ve been humiliated and turned away. Apologies after I’ve had to make a complaint to corporate or file an official complaint are empty, meaningless. And I’m sick of hearing the lame promises about training their employees after the damage has been done. If they wouldn’t challenge a wheelchair they shouldn’t challenge a service dog. As for fake service dogs, these are very easy to spot. They’re untrained and out of control but that’s not an excuse to penalize a genuine service team, ever.
Most policies do not allow businesses to ask. Care and consideration is the key. Unfortunate, but I hope that we have made a lot of progress on this subject! We are grateful for our Veterans, those who serve through #thinblueline & #thinredline
As a veteran myself, I’ve come across some people who, if they find out you’re a vet will be absolute jerks. Be it ignorance, jealousy or whatever people are just dumb and hateful.
I'm sorry but this is why I'm getting an attorney to sue the pants off ignorant business, this men deserves better. I used to work at a museum as security and EVERYONE in the building knew about service dog. we were not only properly trained and given a heads up on the radio when a service dog entered the building but having a dog around always made the day better. I tried not to stare but sometimes the dogs were just so cute, sad how ignorant people can be. A person may look normal but you have no idea what they go through or disability. I guarantee you a doctor wouldn't just hand you paper work for a service dog if your fine.
Just so you know doctors are not always involved and no paperwork is necessary for getting a service dog. I do appreciate how your business took care to make the experience good for handlers though:)
A major part of this problem is the fact that a lot of people try to pass their dog off as a service dog, because they want to take them with them. Service dogs are trained, pets are not. I believe that the service dog owner should have an official ID or some form of visible identification that a pet owner would not have, or at least not legally have. Shouldn't happen, but it does. I also believe that a lot of businesses make claims that a dog is not a service dog becaue they simply do not want them in their place.
No IDs r needed. Absolutely no information that would be out on an ID is info that random strangers need to know. Also, handlers do not need to be stopped every few minutes of their life to show some nosey Karen their private information.
It is usually pretty easy to tell the difference between a pet and a service dog. And people who break the rules/laws by faking a service dog can be punished for it.
And here, 6 years after this, occurrences like this are still happening all over. There is no excuse by ANY business to be so ignorant of a law that’s been around for decades. Owners of these businesses need to be sued and publicly shamed for their stupidity.
you never should have to tell why you have a service dog. this man could prove it by showing that he is amputated but there are a lot of invisseble illnesses. if one person proves that he or she is in need of the dog than they will ask everyone their medical information to prove why they need a service dog
I don't know if there's a Westin Hotel where he is but the Westin is considered to be the most dog friendly hotel chain in the US. Shame on any hotel that doesn't allow dogs and/or humiliates a handicapped person with one, especially a veteran who sacrificed himself for this country. A little gratitude won't kill ya.
Regardless of whom should be embarrassed it is embarrassing. When I first be ale disabled I could still drive and walk through a store. I had a disabled sticker. Healthy people would glare at me and one yelled at me that I was faking to take advantage of working people and the system. I followed her into the store and politely explained my disability. It e,fed when she snidely comments "so you say." I responded " you have entirely to much time on your hands!"
Sharon Marmon Kaczorowski And part of the ADA states,.. Being put in situations that leave you having to explain your disabilities,.. IS ALSO AGAINST THE LAW. ...jus sayin ☺...
I'm sick of these people bringing their dogs everywhere. I turn around in the meat section and there's two adult pitbulls in a shopping cart right be hind me. These dogs bite people and piss on the floors, slobber everywhere. it's disgusting...
Our services include teaching the Veteran what the laws are and how to educate the public about ADA regulations. Also, Roger That Service Dogs is a Veteran owned business that understands the needs of their clients. Please feel free to contact us if you ever need help in the future.
There are so many people who claim that their pet is a service dog, these days. If the dog is a real service dog, it will act like a service dog is trained to be. Let's just say, only a fake service dog would go around sniffing crotches, lol. A true service dog is always attentive to its human. They are working dogs first, pets second.
purrrrson I have a service dog, a large one to help with my medical issues. He has been trained to lay down behind me if I stand still for more than 30-45 seconds. When I go grocery shopping, he does this and people comment on me making him exhausted, or that he's lazy. Nope, doing what he's trained to do!
Walmart is on a national mission to ban American Disabled Veterans, needing Service Animals, from their stores. I am a 100% Service-Connected Disabled Veteran and Walmart assaulted me for bringing a Service Animal into their store and then said I created a disturbance because I told them they were violating the Americans with Disabilities Act and I wanted to speak to the store manager. According to the Charlotte County Florida Sheriff's Office it is a serious crime to say you have a right under the Americans with Disabilities Act.The Justice Department refuses to enforce Veterans Rights since Obama took over, and it seems this whole country is against the disabled that provide the freedom they live under.I fell like I'm living in Russia.Everyone should contact the U.S. Department of Justice and ask WHY they aren't investigating this case with the First Responder, and WHY the Justice Department won't enforce the rights of the disabled, unless they are a minority. The Justice Department really seems to hate Disabled Veterans.
Billy Kidwell Man. I hope this is NOT a Obama thing. As a Service Animal myself. Obama helped KEEP many of the changes in the ADA that came about after 911. Which was just one of the reasons the ADA was revamped. Only changes recently were regarding the TYPE of animal. And help define "SERVICE", from "THERAPY". Cause even AS a Service Animal. I'm not buying the Snakes and Rats stuff lol. My opinion is that FEDERAL LAW has to be more ENFORCABLE with State Laws. Biggest one being,.. An establishments right to Refuse Service. That is their Right. BUT NOT IF IT'S BECAUSE OF A DISABILITY. OR SERVICE ANIMALS. And they pull that All the time. Then it's Discrimination. Only suggestions I have. Is always carry a Body Camera. Cause this is NO NEW PROBLEM. I wish you well. And HATE to point out something that you AGAIN, will have to deal with. WE. the Best animals, AND FRIENDS on the planet. Don't live forever. I'm my friends 3rd. HE SAYS IM THE BEST THOUGH ☺
A lot of people do not want to know the truth. The truth is that usually it is your best friend that stabs you in the back. I sought help from the justice department for 8 years during Obama. They wouldn't even answer my letters or complaints. I discovered that the United States Commission on Civil Rights investigated and found that Obama's Justice Department was engaged in Racial Discrimination and would not investigate, or enforce civil rights violations, against light skinned people, and this discrimination was also used against Disabled Veterans. See www.usccr.gov/NBPH/USCCR_NBPP_report.pdf Justice Department Attorneys quit because of the hate and discrimination by the Obama administration read Injustice written by J. Christian Adams HEAD OF THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT VOTING RIGHTS SECTION UNDER PRESIDENT OBAMA!
Billy Kidwell Well there is ONE Friend that will Never Stab you in the back. Though they might crawl on your back and Drowl on it. And unfortunately I've had NO help from the Justice Department for going on 30years now. I can't even remember the last time I got Any Response. And never anything of substance. In fact. I gave up on that route some time ago. Because even going there in person, I was questioned on my Service Animal. So you KNOW That's going nowhere. That's why I wish States would get involved more. I live in a Good Dog City. Which is my only Savior. But it's still no picnic. Though I DO let my buddy have access to people. He's no Shut In doggie. And is probably my Best Advocate.
I have one that’s my life let something happen like this when I’m around or a lot of others! This place and people are lucky!! They don’t even how lucky!!
yeah i get it that it was rude of the employee.. but "hero humaliated"... come ooon. Where is the humaliation? there is nothing to be ashamed about a lost leg. how can you humaliate sb if you ask him if his dog is legit? the employee got humaliated for doing sth so stupid. Don´t try to police what other people say and think.. there will already be social repercussions for acting like an idiot, that is already enough. If i see a handicaped person who got asked if his service dog is legit I would be pissed as well, but if the guy who made the stupid mistake getting non stop shit I would get pissed as well.. we all make mistakes, dont blow it out of proportion. there was no harm done, goin outside means interacting with others and sometimes it is not pleasant and mistakes are made. I am pretty sure that that "humaliated hero" made some stupid things in his life as well, we all did. So what would be the appropiate response/ reaction in such a situation? Well for example like "here you fucker, I lost a leg, now shut the fuck up and piss off, idiot!". That would be acceptable and enough.. dont go public with it and say that you are on a mission to rehabilitate people.. cause the majority of people already know that this is a stupid thing to do. Well this is my opinion, feel free to rage me for it, but I would prefer logical arguements if you disagree ;)
You know in Germany if you have a well cared for well behaved dog it's welcome almost everywhere. Including Restaurants Cafes and hotels for the most part.
People with guide dogs don't have to reveal their medical history to answer the impertinent questions employees are asked, to get into a venue with their guide dog by law they can only ask you one question, is it a guide dog? nothing more he must file a lawsuit against the establishments that denied him entry and discriminated against him Starbucks sucks!! Veterans and other persons need guide dogs not only for their physical disabilities but also for emotional support as many suffer from PTSD Thank you for your services and may God bless this war veteran
As long as the dog is wearing a vest, I know they are working, and I ask the person about the dog. I don't touch the dog. And as always, a big THANK YOU to all veterans for my freedom. I can't be free if they didn't fight for my country.
Service dogs don't have to wear a vest. Many service dogs don't wear vest because they r useless for them. Vests r not the only gear that exists. And it doesn't matter if it is wearing a vest or not, u should never distract a working service dog. And honestly service dog or not u should never touch a dog without the owner's permission. Also many service dog teams don't really like getting stopped all the time and questioned about their service dog. Many if they use gear will have patches on them that say no questions please, please stay back, please give space, etc... It is actually best to just ignore the service dog, give them space, and let them go about their day in peace.
Obviously he stayed at the wrong hotel! Many hotels allow dogs, not just service dogs. My therapy dog is not a service dog but he is welcome at many motel/hotels.
Your dog is not a therapy dog unless it works with many people in hospitals, schools and nursing homes. Therapy dogs do not work for one person and have no public access rights. Individual people only use emotional support animals or service animals but not therapy animals.
Until recent years, most people only knew about seeing-eye dogs for the blind. Service dogs seemed to come out of nowhere, so it's understandable that there is ignorance and confusion about them. Be prepared to educate some people (You don't have to give lectures, but hand out cards with pertinent websites)... Keep your humor and wits about you, because if you are in a shitty mood and are projecting it outward, NO ONE will care to understand or empathize with you. Every person with a service dog should have a short statement ready that concisely explains their situation on a human level. Saying politely to a store manager: "I get seizures. If I should have one in your store, my service dog is trained to protect my head and calm me down" -- will get a much better response than "Service dogs are legal and allowed on these premises per local statute blah blah blah and you are denying me my rights blah blah"... Unfortunately, I see too many videos where the disabled person has the latter attitude, even threatening to sue or get someone fired -- then are shocked and when the manager gets a similar attitude and calls their bluff. It's called human nature.
service dogs need to b treated the same as a wheelchair or walker. would u make some one leave there wheelchair or walker out side to get a cup of coffee or check into a hotel. no then the dog must b let in.
It’s very hard to witness so much ignorance like this. It’s not ok to have to apologize. It’s not ok at this day and age to be so ignorant to ANYONE that’s already struggling. It’s not hard to just either ask someone what you may not understand, and in times when many disabled people cannot answer because their physical and/or mental disability prevents them from being able to, then it’s not hard to do a little research online or try asking others. Or just be polite and kind. It’s that simple. The ignorance seriously needs to stop because there’s absolutely no excuse to be nasty to disabled people or anyone ever, especially a business. I hope he writes a review of both places. If I read something like this in a review, I would be sure to never go there and I’d pass it onto friends and family.
This is very frustrating for disabled people!!! My service dog alerts me when my blood sugar is low & helps when I am going to have panic attacks due to PTSD. I live on El Paso, TX. Yes it is very frustrating with what we go through!!! Not all disabilities are not visible😂😂😂😂😂😂
Go to a Hilton. When I worked at Hilton Homewood Suites we LOVED when ppl brought dogs in. And any dog was allowed. Even at breakfast. It was the best part of my job after the paycheck. There's something about dogs that just make you happy when you see them. If you're not a pos who needs their face flattened that is.
The vest that dog is wearing is from Caning Companions for Independence. I have worked with those dogs. They are incredibly well trained. People should learn the real organizations that train the dogs so they know who is legit.
I know. I want to start training one for myself for medical alert and psychiatric work. I just want better recognition for all of the work they do. My job is already trying to deny access because it is a restaurant. I have video proof from our video loop in the back room that says we allow SD and SDIT. So , I have already won that arguement, but I won't stop fighting for all SD teams.
Abigail Proctor Or know the LAWS. AND THAT YOU CAN TRAIN YOUR OWN ANIMAL. Especially since there is NO organizations of any type that has ANY Official Status of Service Animal Certification. BECAUSE NONE IS REQUIRED. I'm my friends 3rd service animal. And though you appear compassionate. I will point out. HUMANS LIVE LONGER THAN DOGS. Bet you didn't even consider that. If my friend had to find, train, certify, and PAY for such a companion every so many years. His First would have been his Last. And where would he be now. Oh. He says I'm the Best so far. Course I know he thinks the same of ALL of us ☺☺☺
It's not always possible to keep a service dog at home. The point of a service dog is that they don't function like normal pets. They have to be able to provide their owner with the service they are trained for while they are in public.
+shady Lnu There needs to be an educational documentary that shows service dog selection, training, & the tasks performed to help people with different disabilities. AND spells out in clear, unambiguous language what the law says, & what penalties a business could face!
I really think the ADA needs to produce an informative documentary designed specifically to teach people in the service industry about service dogs, using footage of volunteer participants working with their dogs, being helped by their dogs, explaining the task-specific training of the dogs, the variety of disabilities that warrant having such a dog; & then a narrator explaining in clear language a 6th grader could understand the FEDERAL LAWS protecting the rights of disabled persons with service dogs, the ADA RULES that govern how service providers are legally permitted to interact with people with service dogs, & the list of LEGAL PENALTIES businesses will face if found guilty of violating the civil rights of people with service dogs! I'm surprised such a film doesn't already exist, & isn't required viewing for people who've discriminated on the basis of the dog.
A man went to a church that I used to go to before I moved who had lost his leg from just below the hip whe has a limp but gets around well and has no need for a service dog. I can see why people question this man as he took those steps better than I di who has both legs.
Ever heard of invisible disabilities? Some people octave severe chronic illnesses those service digs are trained to alert to. So just because you can't see like my toning cholln9c seizures does not mean I don't have a disability. I have a seizure alert service dog. Kindly educate yourself
After watching many videos of service dogs and their owners being harassed and/or denied entrance anywhere, or pushy people when they want to pet the dog, I'm totally dumbfounded at the absolute ignorance of so many idiots. How did so many become so uneducated that can't even understand when it's explained to them. Ignorance of the law is not a defense. Just being downright stupid though? Don't know what to say about that. BTW, a service animal does NOT have to be a dog.
Yes. As the dog ages and may begin to struggle to keep up with the service dogs work, and or begins to suffer medical conditions, the dogs r retained from work, and a new service dog comes to the handler (either already trained or needs to be trained by a private trainer or the handler themselves). Majority of the time if, it is a dog that still needs training, the current service dog is still used until the new dog has completed it's training. The first service dog can often help in the training if the new service dog. So if the dog is a breed that lives for example 15 years, the dog begins training as a puppy, and has fully completed the training by the age of between 1 1/2-3 years of age. The dog would then be used as a service dog typically to the age of say 8-10 years old when the new service dog is brought in (if training is still needed, start closer the age of 8 on the first dog), and the old service dog would be retired after, and lives the rest of it's life as just a regular pet dog then.
He got it from a service dog program, the name of the program is on the vest. Also service dog handlers r allowed to get their dog from anywhere. Where the dog originally came from is not what makes it a service dog. The training they received to do the tasks that r needed to help their handler with their disability is what makes a service dog.
I say sue the business. Next time anyone does that have copies of his lawyer bus card and hand them one. Ignorance & shameful people to judge someone like that.
by rights any one should be able to take dogs anyway.. i do not own any pets, but i believe people should be trained with their dogs properly and have licences ...
I was in the $ store on Sawdust The WoodlandsSpring Tx. The manager/owner A MUSLIM I have lived in The middle east and yes I know he was a Muslim. He refused to allow a veteran to enter the store with his dog. As the young man left the shop head hung down with embarrassment I took the time to tell this man that what he had done is morally and legally wrong. I threatened to call the police and he told me to do whatever I want but no one was going to tell him who could and couldn't enter his store. ALL premises should have a large sign on their doors to allow all service dogs entrance, so there is no question as to who can and can not enter. Retailers who deny access should be taken immediately to prosecuted...with the threat of time in jail.

Again, thank you for your service, JOB WELL DONE.
thank you so much for your services. and i am so glad that you stood up for the woman with the service dog and your boss too.

jay dee I thought there was no actual way to get a service dog certified, considering you can do all of the training yourself and you don't need documentation/apparel to even signify that your dog is a service dog in the first place.

My Asia is my Service dog who is my protector and she is my Best friend. i have to fight for not just my right but my Asia right to be by my side.
Thank you for your service, and keep your head up!
You need to go to the local police station and have them give that manager a talk. Thanks for you service to protect our freedom!
Chipwhitley274
there is a difference between a service dog that can go anywhere and a emotional support animal.
INFURNITE PURRSIBILITY,
"there is a difference between a service dog that can go anywhere and a emotional support animal."
What gave you the impression that I didn't understand that?
I guess you missed the part where I said:
" dog can be trained to do a task to serve a person with a disability ..."
That is the distinction which separates an emotional support animal with a service animal.
"A SERVICE DOG has to be well mannered and go threw crazy testing before being labeled a service animal."
That is a lie. There is no certification or testing that is required by law to establish such a standard
As long as a service animal is trained to do a task related to a disability... they do not have to be perfectly behaved.

But it is a problem created by fraudsters claiming household pets as service dogs....
Thank you so very much for your service I am sending out my thoughts and prayers and love to you Good luck

PrinceChris93 just sayong every business has the righy to refuse service for no rason. Good luck sueing 😂
Have a new dog in Service Dog Training, live in Houston & this concerns me. Hope things have gotten better over the years.
And people who break the rules/laws by faking a service dog can be punished for it.

yeah i get it that it was rude of the employee.. but "hero humaliated"...

How in this day and age is any business owner not aware of the laws concerning service animals?
People with guide dogs don't have to reveal their medical history to answer the impertinent questions employees are asked, to get into a venue with their guide dog
by law they can only ask you one question, is it a guide dog? nothing more

The business should have right to tell him no, but we as people should strike them until theyre gone. Simple.
I usually talk to people while waiting in line at a store to sort of pass the time.
I deal with people that are just as uneducated and ignorant about disabled people and their need for service dogs and I'm in a wheelchair.
These businesses need to get sued. It's ILLEGAL to kick out a service dog.
Yes, and try teling that even with rules in hand to the Ones In Charge. Some can't even read -- or will not read the rules.
keep your shitty dog at home. dont force others to have to deal with it
Until recent years, most people only knew about seeing-eye dogs for the blind.
The person who made him tell her he was an amputee should be forced to tell everyone in the restaurant her entire medical history since birth
service dogs need to b treated the same as a wheelchair or walker. would u make some one leave there wheelchair or walker out side to get a cup of coffee or check into a hotel. no then the dog must b let in.
The people with comfort dogs and call them service dogs are ruining it for people who actually need a service dog.
The issue there is that dogs don't have to be trained by organizations. People can train their own service dogs.

Or know the LAWS.
Course I know he thinks the same of ALL of us ☺☺☺
or just keep the dog at home when you go out in public as a courtesy to others
It's not always possible to keep a service dog at home. The point of a service dog is that they don't function like normal pets. They have to be able to provide their owner with the service they are trained for while they are in public.
Sorry for my typos. Unable to edit comment to correct
Ridiculous that a veteran gets denied entrance to a store with a service dog..employee should be fired he should sue the company
seems alot of places in TX do this. Maybe they need to do some PSA on service does in that state
+shady Lnu There needs to be an educational documentary that shows service dog selection, training, & the tasks performed to help people with different disabilities.
@@fantasygirlstudio4659 this one is not invisible so your point is worthless.
@@brianloveless2717 My point is some need service dogs some don't he needed his so do others and tge law grants them that right so don't be judgmental
@@fantasygirlstudio4659 and many want to take there pets with them and call them service dogs.
@@brianloveless2717 which is illegal however one they can be thrown out for that.
Two there are ways if telling a pet from a service dog.
When will people realize that service dogs are not pets but work animals.....
Thanks to all those people with a fake service dog. One of those fake service dog tried to bite my daughter at McDonalds.
Does the United States not have laws prohibiting discrimination by companies against people with disabilities?
We do. People are just dumb enough sometimes to think that they are above the law or can get away with breaking it.
these companies must love lawsuits cause all the do is say no to "service dogs' then want to apologize after the fact.
What happens after 15-20 years when the service dog is no longer around? Do they get a new service dog?
Two businesses in Houston needs to be out of business. I thought we used up our disgusting behavior towards vets with Vietnam.........
Did you get your professionally trained "service dog" through the VA or at the pet shop.
@Main Street Boxer Why are Democrats so Bitter?
He can owner train by law.
He got it from a service dog program, the name of the program is on the vest.
Also service dog handlers r allowed to get their dog from anywhere.
Where the dog originally came from is not what makes it a service dog.
The training they received to do the tasks that r needed to help their handler with their disability is what makes a service dog.
why should he feel humiliated? I don't get it.
A lot of dogs do so much more than just help the blind.
Retailers who deny access should be taken immediately to prosecuted...with the threat of time in jail.
some people don't know what a service dog is. it's not like they're told about this stuff, and alot of people don't sit on youtube all day
Now we have too many people abusing the service dog vests
If they block of veteran from going in they need to read like the business and no veteran use
