Admittedly, I'm a huge Bronco fan and if I decide to purchase a new Bronco, it will be the full size Bronco. However, the Bronco Sport is really growing on me. As a daily driver, it seems much more practical than its bigger brother. What do you think? Will you be opting for the Bronco or Bronco Sport - and why? Let's discuss!
Wife is getting the Big Bend sport with the additional Big Bend package. I know it sounds confusing and it is but when you go to order it thats what happens. I reserved a black diamond and want to get the sasquatch package but $$$ might/will change that to probably the base with the sasquatch package.
@@jimletzring9791 The prices definitely move up quickly as packages and options start being added. I actually really like the look of the base model - there's just something simple and straightforward about it. I even like the steelies.
I’d say these look like a 2012-ish LR Discovery…which is a good thing. My only worry is the longevity of the engine options. If they offered a solid V6 option, they wouldn’t be able to make enough to satisfy demand, IMO. I’ll be keeping an eye out to see what these are doing over the 100k mile mark…still going strong? Or a pile of worn out SUV ‘s?
I currently have a 2022 I do like it It could use a little more horsepower I have the 1.5 3 cylinder But it is really good on gas if you use Echo mode .
Every Land Rover I have seen was not a good vehicle, except the 60’s-or 70’s , that had the hand crank?the eco-boost , seems to always have variable valve/ cam timing issues and timing chain stretch issues? When they are running proper they seem good though?
Yeah, Land Rover doesn't have a very good reputation for reliability. They do seem to be very capable vehicles when they are running properly though. They also look pretty cool, in my opinion. That said, I don't think I could afford to keep one running in tip-top shape.
Trailhawk with v6 engine, coming from guy who asked this for many months and looked into it lol but I feel the Bronco sport has more personality and more features but talking about capability yeah trailhawk by far... get big Bronco for serious off-roading
@@dg7438 i have seen the bronco sports Badlands in action and going somewhere i thought it was impossible to go. The angles and water resistance is better on the bronco sport badlands. The jeep would not do it.
I currently own both an Escape and a couple of Ford trucks. My wife loves the Escape, and I enjoy driving it, but while it's capable it's not exactly inspiring. So I work construction and love my truck and use 4x4 at least once a week. I am buying a Bronco because it will be my "personal" truck. Something nicer than my trucks, more like my office without having to tow. When I'm going to supervise, drive the Bronco, when having to use my tools or tow a trailer, I'll drive my truck.
I think that's a fair assessment, for sure. "Not exactly inspiring" kind of sums up my thoughts on the Escape, but I do like the looks of the Bronco Sport better. The upper trims should also be a bit more capable off road as well. That said, a truck or Bronco with a true 4x4 system and better suspension setup should be head and shoulders above the Sport. I think you've chosen the appropriate use cases for each of these vehicles. 👍
@@firedudeW Picking accessories might even be harder than picking the trim level and options. lol. Ford is going to have over 200 for the Bronco and I'm sure there will be a lot more than that from aftermarket companies. What accessories are you planning to buy?
@@ThisGuyTalks Sherpa Winch and bumper, then some old school white stripes with BRONCO lettering. Then I'll see what everyone else is doing. Maybe a tailgate rack.
@@firedudeW I can't remember where I saw it, but someone had noticed that there was an intercooler mounted right behind where a winch would normally be placed. It will be interesting to see if that affects the bumper options as well as how a winch would be mounted. I'm sure Ford has thought about this - I just found it interesting that someone had called that out. The stripes and lettering should look really good. You'll have to post some photos when you get it all accessorized.
When you comparing Ford to Land Rover vehicle, one needs to understand that one time Ford Motor Company owned Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin production. Since Land Rover now is using leftover Ford design, why should Ford’s designers not use some design that was theirs theirs a few year ago? If Tata had the financial resources and perhaps a know how, how to design Land Rover from start, today’s Land Rover vehicles would not look like Ford Explorer.
Thanks for the comment, John! I definitely remember Ford owning those brands. I get what you're saying too. It just would have been nice to see a bit more of an original design under the Bronco nameplate, in my opinion. That said, I do think the Bronco Sport is a nice looking vehicle and I like what Ford did with the front grille. I think it looks even better than the Freelander.
I’d like to see a manual stick shift option for sure, plus even the automatic should have a real shifter instead of a washing machine dial. Better seats like the badlands package on the first edition. Dashboard is a tad boring. Exterior styling is the best I’ve seen in awhile!
I mean the thing looks solid but it is and always will be a pretty standard suv. I’d prefer the full size one just for the possibility of a stick alone but it also looks so much better ;)
Yeah, I agree that it's not really a "wow" vehicle like the full size Bronco - especially in the lower trims. I will say that the First Edition and Badlands trims are more capable off road than I had anticipated though. They appear to be capable of handling terrain that the vast majority of consumers will cover. I'd personally buy the bigger Bronco, but I think this one is more practical for most people. It should be more comfortable on the road for daily driving and it's a bit more "grown up" looking than the big Bronco. That said, people don't always buy the most practical vehicle, and I wouldn't fault anyone for buying either of the new Broncos. I do think it will be interesting how the Bronco Sport sells in comparison to the Ford Escape.
This Guy Talks let’s be real here most full size broncos won’t see terrain as well, but the sport would be a much more likely to be picked up by me at least if it were fitted with a manual.... then again either is honestly impractical here in Germany. Even smaller suvs have some issues with a lot of the roads round here (had a Tesla model x heading for me and we didn’t fit on the street together since the thing is so wide)
@@technomen0872 haha. That's a valid point. I'm not an off-roader, but I probably take my vehicles to more remote locations than most consumers - for backpacking/hiking, cycling, etc. Most of these are going to stay on pavement though. I guess that's why I think the Sport is probably a better fit for most people. However, people choose vehicles for a number of reasons and practicality isn't always the main reason. I hadn't thought much about the size of the roads in Europe. Although, as I sit here watching the Tour de France, I probably should have given that more thought. The Sport would definitely be a much better fit for narrow roads and urban areas due to a smaller footprint. I haven't compared the specs to a Model X, but the X does appear much larger than a Ford Escape to me.
This Guy Talks hey just wanted to hear your thoughts on the whole Nicola badger-gm thing. (Guessing there’ll be a vid but if not hey here I come asking anyways)
@@technomen0872 Pretty crazy, right? I read through the report the other day. I've had doubts about Nikola but tried to be as fair as possible when I made the video about the Badger. Some of the issues were pretty well known like plugging the prototype truck in during the demo, but most of them were far more severe than I would have guessed. For example, they were claiming technology as their own when it was really purchased from other suppliers and the brand name was covered up. The were also claiming that they had technology that they acquired, but the acquisition had actually fallen through and they didn't report that to the public. Those are just a couple of things off of the top of my head, but there's plenty of other serious stuff in the report. I wonder if they were just planning to fake everything until they landed a partner to produce the trucks. At that point, they'd just use the partner's technology. At best, they've been misleading. At worst, they've been a fraud.
Hey Chuckles. One thing you failed to mention was the reliability history of Ford. The numbers do not lie and if you look at any reliability study you will find that Ford consistently ranks low. And to make matters even worse we are talking about something new here. Yes I know that much of this model is a rehash of the Ford escape, but that model doesn’t exactly stack up either on the reliability index. I try to avoid anything new because it’s always better to wait a few years for the bugs to be squashed. This is why many Toyota models are so great. Instead of that manufacturer constantly trying to reinvent the wheel they simply do not change what is not broken. And it would do Ford much justice to follow that work ethic so that it can stand next to it’s more dependable competition.
I prefer few minor issues in a ford than an Hyundai or kia that go in flames. The consumer report don’t rate well the rav4. And the report does not seems to have logic with sometimes the same base on teo different vehicles but rated completely at the opposite. I don’t trust this report. Also we don’t know what are the issues and if the company that does the report receive money from manufacturer. From what i can see from the videos the bronco sport seems well built with quality and solid interior.the engine 2.0l turbo is already used in many vehicle and the transmission is not new either. The back of the car is protected by piece of metal (the japanese and korean suv are not). These asian suv cannot go where the bronco sport badlands can go.
