Happy New Year! Its so nice to see an update and to see that the heater will be a nice functional add on and not just for decoration or cool factor. For the axle shaft endplay its like the transfer case shaft, you start out loose with all the shims on, then remove them until its within spec. Im sure this year will be a good one, with lots of progress!

Kaiser Willys needs to sponsor you a whole new wire harness 🙌

I've spent enough with Kaiser Willys to get a couple of free shirts and more than a few replacement parts that were damaged in shipping... On the balance, I think we've about broke even, heh. A new harness would be nice (especially since they're stocking Carl Walck's harnesses now), but then I would have to actually do body work and paint the tub so the fresh harness wouldn't be going on something that's still so dirty and dusty.
I'd love to have them sponsor me a Bestop Tigertop so I can keep the heat in the Jeep, though.

Happy New Year! I'd switch to hi pressure fuel line clamps where possible. In my experience, they leak less and do less damage to the hoses over time. Super impressed by how far this has come as a part time project. Keep it up!

Happy New Year to you too.
It would be nice if you could produce one of these big cardboard to do list, to see what are next steps 😊 i remember the old one before you could drive the Jeep.

The "Roadkill" style cardboard to-do list was good for when I was just trying to get the Jeep driving. It'll drive right now, though the rear axle will be very loud. That being said, I do still have a lot to do before it's "done" and I can't decide the order of operations for a lot of it...

Good job on the heater installation,I have a 48 also, its still 6 volt,I think yours is 12 volt isnt it,I noticed a solenoid switch on firewall,I took my drivers side heater out years ago, gonna have to go through it clean it up and paint it,pressure test it and check the 6 volt blower motor,I have the engine,trans/transfer case out right now, have been watching videos on rebuilding both, your videos too,its ready to go back in now,but still have my cross member to clean up and paint, gonna wait until spring to get it back in,new pinion seals in front and rear too, been trying to get all leaks stopped! Thanks for the video!

I just rebuilt a lot of things to make sure they don't leak and after all that, they still leak! Good luck with tackling your leaks. At least in my case, as long as it's leaking, I know it still has oil.

Very True, old willys are like old harleys,as long as they are leaking you know they have some oil in them!@@SunkCostGarage

Thanks for the updates. I was missing your videos. What about the axle?

The Dana 41 is pretty close to being ready. It's just really time consuming to assemble, run a pattern, tear it down, move one shim, reassemble, repeat, it's wrong, change another shim, reassemble, it's closer but wrong, etc. I'm nearly to the point of putting the final bearings on with the current shim packs. Still need to get the cosmoline off of the replacement axle shafts though. It's mainly just a matter of having a few hours to dedicate to it all at once.

Happy new year! I'm pretty sure those pedals are off a early cj5. The top swinging pedals didn't come out till later. I think i saw some replacement rubbers in Kaiser Willy's catalog

I was looking at those. The ones I have are more of a wide oval, but the early cj5 ones are still rectangular? I'll have to look into that further...

What state do you live in? I just found your channel and have started watching your first videos and following them to the present. I enjoy your videos, you do a good job with your content. I too have a 1948 CJ2A that I bought a little over a year ago. I have much work to do on it, brakes, many leaks to fix, wiring etc. Your videos will help me on my project. Keep up the good work!!!!

I'm in central Arkansas. Those early videos were a little rough, admittedly. Thanks for watching.
