Update Years Later.
No, I am no longer with my ex husband. Yes, he beat me daily. Strangling me unconscious, holding me upside down out of windows saying he was going to drop me and kill me, beating me any time I tried to leave and more.
Years later, I'm remarried to one of my close childhood friends I've known for over 10 years. We've been married almost a year now. And we are currently expecting baby #2 (our first together). Liam, my son in the video, is so excited to be a big brother. I have a loving husband who helps me daily with my medical. He helps me set up my IV bags for my infusions 6 days a week. He helps me when my blood pressure is bottomed out and I'm tachycardic.
I have Dysautonomia which is Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction. My brain sends the wrong signals to my body. So my blood pressure bottoms out, my heart can go up to 180bpm from standing and walking around. That's what causes the fainting. And there's a video somewhere on my channel of me being diagnosed. I have PTSD as well. (Obviously).
I currently have Max. He's getting ready to retire. And I have a new puppy that is training to take his place.
So I hope everyone can take some time to check out my more recent videos. And where I am at now in my life.
Thank you all for the support. I love you guys! And over the years, I have learned how to cope better with my anxiety in public and how I react. So please don't hold this against me.

Funny story.
Once I had panic attack and fainted cuz of all this stress and emotions.
My service dog "sherlock" was laying next to me and keeping safe.
I was with my friend Maya and Ruben.
One woman walked to me and started pushing me off the couch.
My friends were arguing with her and once she started shaking me Ruben just. Slapped her.

Me fainting is a daily thing , when I get really stressed or overwhelmed I just can’t help it. My dog was more like emotional support to me through these years. Few months ago he was hit by a car and is no longer able to walk properly. He’s old so he’s a retired dog now and resting at home with my family. I moved away to collage with my boyfriend and let’s just say it’s been weird not having Sherlock around anymore. He is pretty old now and it’s hard to cope with things without him. My boyfriend is a big help to me though and I’m really greatfull for Ruben :)
If anyone’s interested I’m still in touch with maya she lives few hours from me and Ruben but we’re seeing each other every time we can. I need service dog and I’m aware of that, To many terrible things happened to me while talking to people and I’ve been told to get away from store with my dog even after shoving proof that he was professional trained dog. I’ve been struggling with a lot of problems but I’m an adult now and I need to find way to cope. Tried to Off myself twice after I moved it like I said before I have big help with me.

they smell small hormone changes in your body and can tell if blood pressure drops low. Dogs can even smell cancer, pregnancies, low blood sugar and more. A dogs nose can pick up lots and lots of information in a split second. They can do many things.
Your body usually gives you signs beforehand, BP, breathing, Heart Rate etc
One of the many reasons dogs are my absolute favorite animals in the whole world.
I'm diabetic (type 1) and sometimes I have major Hypo's. My dog who isn't even trained can tell when my BloodSugar Level is acutely dropping. He will come sit near, against me and is literally clued to my side.
Apparently when your blood sugar level drops at a major rate you give off a sort of smell only dogs can smell. Some dogs will alert/act on it even though they aren't trained. It's truly amazing how dogs can figure still like that out

I'm not even sure how I came across this particular video but the whole situation...having PTSD and anxiety, being open about it with people so they understand, not to mention filming all of this so people can see what your everyday life is like....it's fascinating! You're doing everyone a huge favor by showing what to do (and what NOT to do) with regards to these amazing animals. I work in retail and we get service dogs in our store occasionally and I've seen a few at work while I was with my granddaughter. She asked me about why you can't pet them and we had quite a conversation about it and then I showed her this video. Since then, whenever she sees a service dog she makes sure to not bother the "worker" and she keeps an eye on everyone else so that they don't interfere. Anyways, thanks for making this for everyone.

This isn't the problem. Not enough people are educated about service dogs and the certain things they do. From her eyes it was probably a girl snuggling a dog on the couch. This is why everyone needs to be informed and taught somehow

To the comments who complained about her being "mean" or "irritable": Long story short I have a blood clot in my brain. Thankfully it's contained for now. I've fainted on many occasions. To help those who don't understand I'm going to explain it for you. These are my symptoms and other people may not expierence it like I do.
1. I feel my temperature rise and heat coming from my face. I break out in heat rash all over my body. My face will feel like it's on fire it's so hot. It' feels like all the blood in my body is being pulled up my body.
2. I become extremely dizzy to the point I fall to my knees
3. My heart starts to race and that's when I start to panic. That fear of knowing you will not be in control of your own body can be terrifying. Even if you live with a condition for so long, it's still scary.
4. I yell or scream for help
5. I pass out completely
6. I wake up confused and not sure what's going on at first.
During the parts before and after I pass out, I can't focus on anything and I have a tough time answering questions. You get frusterated but it's important to know that we aren't upset with the person helping us. We are scared and don't always understand what is happening. I'm normally a very calm person but I have gotten frusterated with people helping me. Mainly because of all the questions. I don't like being touched either from issues in the past, so I can understand that too. It would make me uncomfortable even though I know they are trying to be nice. So please don't judge her reaction. I thought she handled it like a Boss!
@@nickdavis5947 I wouldn't consider them being a Karen. First, you really shouldn't be distracting the service dog or the person while they are working. If you are about to pass out and you come up to them, asking all type of questions, how do you think they are going to feel like? Irritable, annoyed to say the least!

Furthermore, that disability probably hinders or limits them in some part of their life and that can be frustrating. They aren't being karens, they just struggle, just as much, if not MORE, than other humans. Ugh smh

Keep in mind you friend said "she's passed out" in a hushed voice. If I didn't know the circumstance it sounded like he meant you were asleep. And you said he started rubbing you, so they likely assumed he was trying to wake up from being asleep. The entire thing seems like a huge misunderstanding.
Another word would be better. Passed out makes me think someone couldn't stay awake any longer or had too much to drink.
Fainted is the proper word people are looking for. It has a completely different emotion to it as well as sounds like something she couldn't control

If you're going to be doing something dramatic, like laying on a couch with your dog, your friends/family need to do a better job at explaining the situation if a misunderstanding happens. I understand the situation perfectly as I have similar issues but understand why it's going to seem strange and out of the norm to the public.

Devon Williams she means dramatic in the eyes of the regular public that doesn't know what's going on... it's not an every day thing to see a dog lying on a person who looks like they're sleeping on a couch in a resell shop. So yes her husband or whoever is with her should notify someone who works there about what's going on BEFORE someone comes and tries to wake her up.

When I get my dog, if I'm passed out, I'd be damned happy to have a stranger touch me to see if I was OK.
It's diffrenet for each person with diffrenet situations. For some if you touch them you cam stimulate them into a worse situation.
I'm a sufferer from something like this with a service dog.
You never just touch a disabled person with a servive dog
You stand by make sure they are breathing and time it if they don't wake call an ambulance by touching them you can send them into a worse attack mainly when they wake. Mainly if theyvpanic it can send them into shock or cardiac arrest.
Or it can over stimulate the nerves my touching making it worse.
If someone's passed our alone yes check on them and touch them but if they have a service dog at least give then 30 mins. Because if you intervine with a service dog doing DPT in a passed out owner it can distract the dog which is illegal under ADA law bevause it puts the owner at risk.
I speak from knowledge and personal experience of nearly having a heart attack waking to someone over me when I passed our with my dog on me. It sent me into another fit and I nearly went into cardiac arrest.
Most people don't know it's illegal to distract a service dog. Or that an SD laying on top of you has anything to do with fainting. I understand being frustrated, but she gets mad at people for not knowing. As if it's common knowledge.
Common sense, if you are adult or teen, you don't distract a service dog while tasking, you gotta be pretty stupid to think it's okay to pet or call a SD over while they are tasking

I'm super confused as to why your husband would walk away when he knows youre about to pass out. You're in a store, there are going to be questions and obviously your friend dosen't know your medical history like your husband will. You might also want to consider some sort of medical tag. They aren't expensive. I have my conditions and an emergency number on mine. You can also ask your PCP for a temp handicap tag for the summer for when it is too hot to make it across the parking lot. Heat is one of my major syncope triggers, so summer parking lots are a HUGE no no.

Ashley Hayes: Yes, I have taken children of all developmental stages to a store. However, I'm not sure how that relates to my post. Children are much easier to pass off to a friend to entertain, than someone having a medical incident. Especially when you are the one who knows their medical info better. If there was some other direction you were trying to allude to with your question, I'd be happy to answer if you elaborated. Questions with no context are difficult to answer.

In Australia service pet can’t be questioned or your in trouble as a business. I understand they thought you were asleep, you look that way, but your dog looked like a service dog so you should of been left with your dog and adult supervision
We have the same rules in America, but no one follows them. It’s something that’s so hard to enforce, especially when people just say “that’s not a law that I have to follow.”

Wow! I am normally on the side of the handler and dog, but your boyfriend/husband could have easily explained what was happening. Instead he just kept rolling hoping to capture what employees did wrong. This is about as uncool as people bringing in their ill behaving teacup poodle pet as a service animal. If you shop their often, then why not talk to he head manager and try educating this staff? Very disingenuous.
Also you know she shops here often cause she's on government funding for her "illness" so she isn't a stranger to thrift stores
I understand you have a service dog and you need him. Thing is though, you cannot expect everyone to just know what your condition is. I feel for you as I also have ptsd, but we have to understand that others aren't educated as much as we need them to be, it's not their fault and we shouldn't shame them because of it. I believe she said you were asleep to the customer as not to draw attention to you, she was being nice, not ignorant.

TheGuerilla14 what may be common sense to you, is not common sense to others. I knew about these dogs for a long time but it wasn't until my friend got one and specifically told me the rules. I didn't know. Most people, don't know. We need to keep an open mind about these things, and instead of shamming- help educate.

It's a ruffwear leash (: you can find similar hand hands free leashes on Amazon for cheaper. But its worth the money
I can't help but wonder why they are so worried about the service dog being on the couch rather than having her shoes on. But that's just me.

Looking at the chair beside it, it is probably also merchandise. Tbh, as a store employee I’d be concerned about both the shoes and dog. I’m also a service dog handler that passes out. I would’ve gone to the least busy/populated area and laid on the floor. Being in a high traffic area like this where several departments intersect and the fitting rooms nearby would’ve made my anxiety skyrocket because I would not want to be a public spectacle. I already get more than enough unwanted attention in public for having a service dog. But that’s just me.
Totally understand staff not wanting people laying & dogs on the couch. But all she did was lightly tap you on the shoulder, and to be honest if i saw you unresponsive on the floor I'd do the same & for my medical condition it could save my life if someone checked on me. Better to emotionally trigger someone than let someone fall into a coma and die.

It feels as though hands/touches are constantly on your body and your brain begins to perceive everyone as a threat. The mind is just waiting for the prospect of a threat to become a reality. When someone touches a victim of sexual assault, that notion is confirmed. You have to build up a level of trust in a person before you even slightly begin to let down your guard. I hope this clears things up a bit.

That was emotional. I wish that didn't happen to you. But the fact is, people naturally want to help. What kind of person would just assume everything is ok and leave you unconscious? As much as you want that, it's not realistic. You need the dog and a human with you to explain the situation. The general population doesn't know much about service dogs and the reasons why people have them or have any idea what your diagnosises are.
No one with a service dog has ever told me not to touch it, but I always ask for permission.

The only times I have pet a service dog is when the owner looks like she/he wouldn’t mind me coming over to them for a chat and I Always ask if I can first.There are some obvious clues when people just don’t wanna interact with others. Unfortunately because of how short I am (4’11) and I’m gonna have a rather large dog ( Bernese mountain dog) people are more likely to do as they please, if they can get the courage to come up to such a large dog. Hey girl, let me start by saying, I have POTs and multiple other issues as well. So I totally understand how challenging and discouraging it can be. I'm not here to judge you or anything like that, I just have some genuine questions and concerns. With POTs, for myself, and others I know with the illness, when you feel you're going to pass out, you lay down if you catch it in time. Therefore, regulating your BP and HR, usually stopping the fainting from happening. I've personally never experienced or seen anyone else who just lays down and eventually passes out. Can you explain this to me? I've also never seen anyone pass out- wake up because someone is touching them or talking to them- then pass out again. I've watched several of your videos to try to fully understand. Also, when it comes to me anyways, if I'm feeling bad enough that I pass out, the last thing I'm worried about is wanting to shop more. I want to get out of that public place that I'm in no matter what. Because after passing out, do you really want to get back up and shop more? Really?
I watched your Walmart video. In it after you woke up you acted like you didn't even know you were recording. However, you clearly sat on the floor, propped up the camera, and layed down. And as you were passing out you continually kept instructing Max. If you truly are feeling like passing out, again, you are unable to focus on anything. Even if it is your SD. You feel so bad that the world just fades away. You don't have time to prepare.

People with ongoing medical conditions that require a service dog can also have a medical emergency that the dog is not trained to deal with. Also if that was an epileptic seizure or dangerously low blood sugar a person may need further assistance. Btw before everyone jumps, not all seizures are tonic clonic.

I just had an issue like this yesterday...I was with my dog trainer in the mall and we went to find a couch to practice DPT on both my chest and my lap. As we were working, a UPS guy said from afar inside a store "The service dog can be in here, but they cannot be on the couch." My trainer then proceeded to explain how she was tasking and that's why she was allowed. He said again that they shouldn't be on the couch, but then was quiet. My trainer explained to me to say that to someone next time that happens. Then as she's tasking (know that I'm worked up cause this is the first time this has ever happened to me) he comes up, stares at us, and then yells once again as he's walking away, "They shouldn't be on the couch, other people sit there you know." My trainer and I were furious. But it just goes to show that it's just the reality of being a service dog handler :/

I know the lady was just trying to help and she wasn't in the wrong at all but it's still a scary thing to people that have PTSD. I too have PTSD and it's because of my past that I can't go in public without thinking someone's gonna hurt me cause I'm the perfect target. When my sisters friends sleep over I can't sleep cause I just have this feeling that they'll come in and attack me. PTSD is hard to live with and it makes your life so much more difficult and it makes things like someone attempting to help seem like you were gonna die. So, all I'm trying to say is, sometimes you just gotta be careful of what you say unless you are completely educated on the subject and know what's happening

I understand that it notifies her when she thinks she is going to faint, so she can find a place to faint, but I feel as though that would be the only crucial aspect to the girl's life, unless the dog significantly lowers the woman's blood pressure and keeps it below 115/75 mm HG (level of fatal consequence)

When you are laying down in a store you have to expect staff to come up to you to see what is going on. It's not unreasonable and she doesn't know that you don't like being touched.
Not to mention the workers probably don't like animals on the furniture they are trying to sell. So people are allergic to dogs and chances are most people won't buy the coach if it smells like dog.

I wish the public had a better understanding of service dogs and how important they are to us. My service dog Rusty has saved my life and is tasked with helping me stand and get up from the floor. He is also DPT trained, I love it when he lays on me. I’m a stage 3 cancer survivor and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Rusty. Hope you are well and God bless.

if someone has reason to believe that you are in need of medical help when you are laying down in a public place, conscious or not, I think that they should be able to offer assistance whether it be checking for vital signs such as checking the heart beat or checking for breathing or coldness. from there they can call 911
I agree. Some stores may call 911 for legality purposes. If someone is injured or unconscious in their store and God forbid something goes wrong or she may be hurt from falling (they don't know, especially on the floor), they need to show that they did their part to the best of their ability to get her help. But I also understand where she is coming from in that there is no need for 911, there isn't anything they need to do and it's her "normal." I can also understand her not wanting to be touched or confronted by strangers, especially due to PTSD.

That doesn't lessen how it effects her. She has PTSD from ten years of sexual abuse. Strangers touching her, no matter their intention, is upsetting. Especially when she is so out of control of the situation and unconscious. It doesn't MATTER what the woman's intentions were, because it isn't about logic.
I never said it didn't affect her. My point is that the majority of society would touch another person in that way to show a sign of comfort and I don't think that poor lady should be "attacked" by the title of this video with over a million views. This poor lady was doing her job trying to help someone she thought was sick/injured and instead this lady films the whole thing and posts it to social media with an exaggerated title to make money and get views. I never said that the lady touching her didn't affect her, I just think this woman portrayed it badly, as she does with all of her other videos as seen in people's comments.
Also, if she really couldn't stand being touched by another person, perhaps her husband or a carer should have stayed with her while she was unconscious so he could have told that lady to back off instead of leaving it to their friend who clearly didn't know what to do.

I have PTSD from war, but my service dog is trained to get between someone and me when I'm having a problem. No bark at anyone. Once I'm back he sits and waits for me to give a command.
I’m so glad I stumbled on ur channel, I remember when I was young that I did what those kids did and yelled puppy or doggy. I was too young to realize that those dogs are service animals that help those with PTSD and other conditions. I know now about this and to not bother them while their working and I’m sure whenever I have kids that I will let them know that yes the doggy is very cute but he’s helping thier human and we can’t distract them 🙂

Probably as a owner of a store selling on floor items like furniture I wouldn’t want a dog on it due to possible contamination that could trigger a serve allergic reaction of another consumer that decided to sit on it/test it. Not blaming or saying what you did is wrong. Honestly, though it would never happen, I wish large stores could have a safe place area for those who are overstimulated or just need a to take a moment.

I just found your channel and I am so glad I did! I think I have learned a lot about how important service dogs are to people and how disrespecting people are to them and their handlers. I will totally be teaching my students about how to act around service dogs. It is amazing how well trained your puppers is and what a special bond you two have. I would be horrified if someone touched me who I did not know, and I don't have PTSD. I think that is a totally normal reaction to having a stranger be intimate with you.
Take along some flats on your birthday as those are awesome heals but they are going to kill your back. In my case it would kill my ankles,knees, hips and back. Lol . Just don't want you to have more back pain on your birthday day!!
