- Trying to teach Mya to take things hold them and carry. I apparently dropped treats on the floor, and didn’t notice. Then boy persistently talks to Mya. And I end up extremely tachycardic, and my husband fussed at me.

Why do parents not stop there kids from distracting service dogs. Don’t get me wrong I have seen people educate their kids when me and my service dog are in Stores. I think parents should be more aware of service dogs and distracting them can be dangerous for their handler. Just my opinion.
Most times,not matter how much they tell their kids, they never listen until they're older.

When a service dog is in a store we tell the kids the dog is doing a job and yes it is cute but let's keep going.
@@dortheaprzybilla6152 Thank you for that it really helps us sd teams so very much. But one thing you could also do is let the children know why you keep going instead of approaching of distracting the dog. For example, you could say lets keep going because we don't want to distract the dog from it's job because it could be dangerous for the owner. We do not know the reason for the dog but we do not want to cause any harm to come to them. This would teach the children why you shouldn't do the thimgs people do to service dogs and they are more likely to listen and follow that when you are not around.
I always tell my 2 year old he ends up crying but oh well lol

My service dog Zoey did well today. We went to the grocery store with my son. I decided to walk and Zoey was walking right beside me. When we got almost done Zoey started to alert me to sit down. We went to the front of the store where I sat down. She kept checking my wrists while my son checked out. After she would check on me, she would lay down right next to my foot. This was her first successful outing since she was traumatized from the idiot who kicked her at a coffee shop.
Mia did really well at carrying her chew bone. 😊

Someone kicked your service dog how dare they did you say anything but how could they do that if they did that if they are a grown up they could go to jail for that that is so illegal

Mya is doing so well with her training she will make a excellent fully fledged service dog some day. Hope you feel better soon
She did really well for learning a new command. Conditions weren't perfect but life never is.

You are a fantastic trainer. One of my graduated SD handlers has gone on to train her POTS service dog to pick up her dropped debit card off the floor, and take the laundry out of the dryer.I have thumbs and I can’t pick up a debit card off the floor.🤣

I have dysautonomia as well and I really enjoy your videos! Life is difficult sometimes because I am a student and I have to deal with dysautonomia and autism, and your videos give me hope. You are a large inspiration to me and I love to see someone succeeding even with disabilities. I have many of the same struggles as you and I like being able to watch videos made by someone that understands what it is like. I wish you and your service dog a great week! My girl knows “carry” (just for fun) but we struggle with holding things while she’s not moving. I’ll try this next time we go out! It’s a great idea!

I hate when peiple try to mess with service dogs but at the min im trying to teach my dog to focus on me and not people trying to mess with him

@@ServiceDogPaws do you not think if your goal is education, that there’s a better way you could address things when it comes to kids? My 10 year old listens great, but I pray to goodness my four year old never utters a word about a service animal, should he see one again. I’ve taught my kids about sa and they luckily have listened but if a random day comes and my youngest says oh look at the cute puppy to me, I’m going to assume the person with the animal is totally pissed about it.

1:09 this reminds me of when my little pooper gets a stick and suddenly walks turn into an episode of Total Wipeout.
If you can imagine a Cockapoo (standing up she would be a bit above your knee) carrying a stick a good 2-3 times her length, somehow she can bring it to knee height.
Fun times for her shall we say, sore back of knees for the rest of us (and front of knees while I think about it).
Anyway well done Mya 👍 her training is coming along beautifully and she hasn’t even tripped you up... yet
My mom taught me to NEVER even look at service dogs for to long as soon as I could understand.
She said: “If you see a dog with a vest on, leave it alone.”
And now I am teaching my kids to leave service dogs alone,

About parents/kids, some folks just lack the knowledge. Gently explain, this dog is working, see the vest . That means it can’t play right now. That would take less than 15 seconds! Stop turning into “parents control your kids” and turn it into a lesson! Don’t assume everyone is familiar with service animals, can read at all, let alone English. Folks generally mean no harm.

I completely understand what you're going through because I have a service dog like I said Journey cardiac alert and anxiety alert and she still in training so there's a lot of kids that can I pet her also cute and keep talking to her and it's just please can you not talk to her please leave her alone she is service dog she's working please go away please stop it's just so sad and I like your channel you educate people and I am so thankful for that and I tried to even though I don't have a TH-cam channel I educate like when I go out and people ask all can I pet your dog I'm like no sorry she's a service dog she's working so she's a cardiac and anxiety alert so she cannot be messed with please and thank you

I don’t know why parents don’t stop their kids from petting service dogs! Someone once pet my dog without asking and I got super steamed so I do like I do everyday if someone doesn’t ask to pet my dog. I pull Choco (my dog) away and talk to them that you should never pet a dog without asking, service dog or not.

Makes me wanna teach my SDIT to hold things as well! also not trying to be a karen but maybe switch her from gravy train to something a little better, I know money is very tight during these times but maybe even adding some raw meat or supplements to her food! I’ve seen one to many dogs get sick & have have shorter lives living off that food:(
U can change it to natural recipe it's cheap and healthy
She started having issues with NOMNOM. We’ve tried other food. This is the only one she likes. But she does get supplements! Raw meats, eggs, etc

You know i genuinely thought that people knew that you shouldn’t mess with service dogs? I was taught at around age 5 that you don’t mess with service dogs. I thought it was common knowledge and maybe that makes me ignorant for thinking that but you honestly shouldn’t mess with service dogs or non service dogs in public. You should always ask to pet a non service animal not just grab them in any case. I hope people learn. How annoying that you have to deal with this stuff.

What I am doing with Diesel and what I did with Harley is I would take it and hold it in their mouth and when they chew, correct them. And eventually they should get the hang of it.

If I was a service dog trainer and if stray kids did something like this to my dog I would just tell them in a nice way way to stop but if they don’t I will get Negative! So I will either yell madly at the kids to stop or I will walk away!

She used to not do it with her halter. But has started recently. She does it at home without it. So I’m still not sure. But she’s not ready to work without the halter
6 easy Steps to take if you want to pet someone else's dog
1. Check if it's a service dog
2. If yes than don't interact with owner or dog, if not approach owner non threatening.
3. Ask owner politely if you may pet the dog.
4. If the answer is no, go away, if the answer is yes, reach your hand out to the dog
5. If the dog shows threatening scines then stop, if he/she is peasefull or excited, procied with gentle petting.
6. Continue petting until you have enough, the owner tells/asks you to stop, or the dog shows scines of discomfort, wich ever comes first.
Or simply ignore it because interacting with the dog puts the owner at risk and it's illegal under the ADA.

@Fantasy Girl Studio, how is their statement wrong? Their are different laws in different areas, your area might have a 100-300 dollar fine if you distract a service dog but their area might be jail time if you distract a service dog.

Still not a valid reason to distract a service dog! It is illegal and the parents should creotet such bad behavior.
Ya'll should seriously put her on some better quality food. Gravy Train is such shit dog food. No nutritional value for her at all. Try Purina One if you insist on cheap food or something grain free like Pure Balance if you want her to be healthy. She will eat less, be healthier and her coat will be shiny and soft.

Thing is you never interact in anyway with a service dog. The moment you draw the service Dogs attention away it can miss an alert to something like a seizure , possible heart attack, blood pressure dropping or blood sugar rising and falling and that could hurt or kill an disabled owner.
It's also illegal under the ADA which states:
No person shall interfere with the use of a service dog by obstructing, stairing, touching, speaking, intimidating, or otherwise jeopardizing the safety of the user or animal. Whoever violates this subsection shall be guilty of a class B misdemeanor.
If an individual continues in the action of interacting and or distracting the service dog leading to the missed alert and injury of the disabled handler (owner ) the person would be guilty of attempted manslaugther.
