damn this is such a well articulated video. considering I didn’t grow up with the game but even was playing a Pokémon game in black-and-white feels like this experience. Now I’m super excited to try it and all these different color pallets
thanks! definitely give it a go, if you're used to red and blue in black and white, it will be really eye opening, some of them are a little bland, but some are also super vivid and eye popping
I play with the inverted pallette and then invert my phone's color pallette (yes, I play on my phone, I have never owned a real GBC before). It looks weird and I love it
see, this is the stuff im about. Niche things that I have thought about but never had the will or ability to discuss because I know some people wont get it.
The one thing I find disappointing about the GBC is that it has no compatibility whatsoever with colorization designed for the Super Game Boy. Pokemon Red and Blue were designed for the SGB, having specific colours programmed in for each Pokemon and town, but put the game in a GBC and all of that is lost - the entire game just appears in a single colour. Admittedly, this might be less the fault of the GBC itself and more because of a lack of forward planning when designing the SGB, I'm not sure how the two different colour systems work on a technical level.
We love your videos ❤
thank you!

there's something pretty fun about the inverted one, even if it takes some getting used to
Kinda like a biverted DMG? lol
I love this cute video showing up in my miserable feed, kudos 🎉 the Game Boy brings me so much joy
thanks! glad you liked it

that's the beauty of making videos about niche topics, you find the people who get it
Holding right to get that sick green and red is so nostalgic to me. Even now I like it better than some official color pallets.
the red and green is really cool, one of the good ones for sure
you should've talked about the pokemon-specific borders that the snes super gameboy plugin offers, I think they are the best way to play gen1 now
this is news to me! I will have to check those out, thanks for the tip!

yeah that is a shame, hard to replicate with most emulators now as well (especially disappointing given all the areas are named after colors)
