Glad you enjoyed the car! And you are right, the brakes are super aggressive and heel and toe take a while to learn. Coming from a 911 where I had it on day 1, took me about 6 months to get really comfortable with it in the Exige, to the point it's second nature. Wouldn't dream of changing it now though...I get in other cars and it feels like the brakes are broken in them after the Exige 🤣. It's a car you really have to learn to get the most of...which is a super rewarding process
I have the 410 - which version do you have? I also have Lambo, Aston, Porsche Spyder but if I want an adrenaline filled drive I always take the Exige!!!
Did you change the pedal for a larger one though ? I really struggle with these sensitive brakes to heel and toe !! What's your technique ? How did you train for it ? Best car in the world !
@@gabriels9977 I did change it actually, but I only have a very slight extension now, maybe 7mm or so, but I reckon I'd be fine without. It's useful for getting the feel for it tho. Get an adjustable one then can tweak as needed to work for you!
This car is perfect for me, left hand drive and I love the satin black. It would also look amazing in my garage in Canada next to my 2014 Evora S Motorsport Edition.
Preparing to be shot down, as my only experience of similar was crawling to the kerb from a quick little Elise, many years ago……… the gearbox or more precisely the lever, are they altered from RHD to LHD and is it slightly awkward in use as a result ?? 🙂🇬🇧
To add to the numbers topic: maximum power to weight ratio doesn't tell the full story. If you bump the power of a light car to match the weight of a heavier car keeping its HP/KG, the power torque will likely be flatter, because smaller engines make specific power more easily, while heavier cars don't usually have much larger engines but will need to extract more power, therefore in a spikier way.
I would struggle with ingress and egress for sure and left hand drive for me would be a deal breaker. However..... I can certainly see why many would fall in ❤ with this 🚘. Having once driven - topless - an MG Midget; being so low to the ground makes it feel as though you're travelling a lot faster than what you are.
@@grahamnutt8958 I think it's a combination of sitting lower but also less sound deadening. The steering feel adds to the sensation too. Thanks for watching Graham!
I honestly think an Evora GT410 Sport with the Komo-Tek 475bhp kit is probably a better option for the added benefits even with the extra 150kg, much nicer place to be.
@@sportzntouring I have a GT410 Sport and I have been really tempted by the Komo-Tek upgrades for a few years now, my only concern is sending insurance costs through the roof and limiting choices. If I ever get it done I will drop you and James a Line, more than welcome to give it a go :)
@@davidsparavec8996 much easier to get in and out, nicer interior, option of +2 etc I daily drove a VX220 for years which is similar to an Exige inside, granted the Exige is a bit nicer but it gets annoying quick.
What it should have, is a flip up roof panels like a gull wing to allow easier ingress... a t-top chassis. Pull it down with a strap, and then close the door. Job done.
Yes, it can take the 475bhp OK. Once you get very close to 500bhp you need to be very, very careful. The gearbox is more torque limited though iirc. Still fine with the KT475 or similar though
Right hand drive is far better for a clockwise circuit - weight distribution; cars handle better with the driver on the apex side of the corner. Your entry and exit technique requires some revision. It's really not that difficult. :o)
At least the peddle box isn't designed for people with slim, or very small Italian shoes. I got into a much older lotus once and had to crawl out over a competition bucket seat that had near hard sides eight inches high. Even 25 years ago that was horrible.
@@twowheelsoneleg5672 this spec? No, but maybe there's one out there for me. I've seen a couple. I also want to try an Emira on the road. I've only driven them on track. I quite enjoyed it but feels soft compared to the Exige.

Your reaction was priceless Ant, very honest and real. Looking forward to seeing what you drive next.

You should try a lotus Elise as well as the exige

Nice!!
I settled on an Evora, so would 100% agree that's a good shout to try next.
A right hand drive race car (GT40) on a clockwise circuit (Le Mans) put more weight on the inside of most corners, which was bona fide deliberate.
Nice work. My Kubota has the same direct steering, I can feel every bump in the field!
S3 Exige was a bucket list car for me since I first laid eyes on one but that’s been replaced by an Evora for obvious reasons now 😅 great video Ant 👏
This is a car that surprised me! It's brilliant!
The LHD on clockwise tracks bit surprised me. I would have assumed that having the driver's weight on the inside of the corner would be advantageous.
You are right. RHD on clockwise is best

Common understanding is generally around 475 max hp and 500nm torque before more serious work like engine rebuild, sequential box etc
I have a S3 exige S. Past cars were S2000, 911 996 and 987 S, nothing like the lotus, pure amazing, Maybe ferrari???
Nice Morris Traveller.
Put a removable steering wheel in my Exige. It's a big improvement for sure.
Hope we can see Ant in a TVR of some sort in a future video (Sagaris please!)

460hp+ 1100kg = 418.18 bhp per tonne 🎊
Surely there is just a technique to getting in, and like the key being on wrong side in a 964 , you just get used to it eventually?

Would love to see these seats in green alcantara with golden Lotus embroidered
😮
This is the experience I'm trying to find in a US car. Within budget is the killer.
Surely there is a better technique for getting into one of these, that looked horrifically tight
‘Only’ 1100kg? Wow, that’s a real shocker
That’s nothing my Elise is under 800!
Series 1?
S1 160 (green) so possibly under 700
You don't get into an Elise/Exige as much as you actually wedge yourself in.
Haha! Yes, not the most graceful of things to do, but once you're in, you feel so connected!
Ant needs to ride your KTM, and whilst on the subject, where is it ?
I don't have a bike licence so that's not happening... But there's news on that front that's coming soon!
@sportzntouring excellent. The thrill of riding a > 1litre bike on full chat is an experience to behold.
