- Bogotá/Bogota, Colombia is genuinely a crazy big city. Well, it's the capital of Colombia, how can it not be, right? I spent 4 days here in 2023 exploring solo and with other people. Traveling in Colombia in 2023 is pretty safe for solo travelers, just FYI.

Dear Diana, I am form Bogota. Your last comments about the city are pretty inaccurate. As most tourist you seem you just have gravitate the historic center of the city that is just a tiny part of the whole. Bogota has lots of green areas, not very far away from the center there is a huge park complex that includes Parque de los Novios, Biblioteca Virgilio Barco, Parque Simón Boliver, centro de alto rendimiento and Jardin Botanico. Just the Simón Bolivar Park is larger than Central Park in NY. This area is beautiful and it can give you a better idea of how Bogotanos (natives) live. To the north of the city there are also plenty of Parks, some as Parque del Chico is really beautiful. Just a 20 minute walk from Plaza de Bolivar to the north you find Parque Nacional which is much larger that people think and goes up into the mountain. You can also hike the mountains. What you do get right is how active and noisy the city can get. The center is chaotic because is probably the only place in the city where everything blends, the poor, the homeless, the rich. The food offer in Bogota is huge, is the only place in Colombia where you can get decent food from all over the country, but also all sorts of foreign cuisine to a high standard. I have experience traveling and if I find a place with nice food I might go back, but I always tried to visit as many different spots as possible and try all the diverse local foods a place can offer. By the way many fruits that are native to Colombia are very sour and strong, so the are not eaten straight, they are used to make dishes, fruit juice, sauces, etc. you won't find anyone in Colombia eating a Maracuya or lulo as is they are simply unbearable.

Where were you! Wow is this a fun video! So I am a Bogotano myself...couldn't help but laugh when you said that if the city were a person it'd be committed to a mental facility...so true. But there are large swathes of well urbanized and green areas if you look around to the west and deep into the north. And there is a diverse cultural and night life. Hope to see your future videos!

Lovely edit and filming as always, you always manage to capture the atmosphere of the places you visit, so well. A big thumbs up for that! (-: As much as I love art, the pictures by Fernando Botero didn't appeal to me that much...As for places I enjoy, I'm the same way, I mostly go back to eat and I usually order the same dishes and drinks. Not very experimental, I know but at least there's a almost a guarantee that it's gonna be tasty.

The seedy fruit is called a Sugar Apple... They are very tasty. I would say they are probably the tastiest fruit I have ever eaten

I'm from The Bahamas & they are common here.
Once the fruit is ripe, the flesh separates from the seeds effortlessly...
Definitely would be better without the seeds but the taste is so very worth it😋

Nice impressions of Bogota, it reminds me on the (positive) craziness in the Philippines which I really like. I also like to visit a good restaurant twice, I last did that at the TS Casa in Santiago where they served vegan food in a cool atmosphere. Buen camino 👋🏼

Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time. I was going to do some volunteering in Villa de Leyva but I needed to go back to the US for an important reason 😢 maybe next time, there’s so much I still need to discover in Colombia

If you want to see a better face of the city stay in a better area. I recommend you to stay in hotels in Rosales, Santa Barbara, Usaquen or Chapinero. I am pretty sure you will have a different perception of Bogotá.

I too like going back to one place if you love the food. Enjoy it as many times as you can, you may never have another chance after this trip. And I watched the first five minutes and you were talking soooo fast, I thought maybe you had some Colombian Marching Powder. Then I remembered I set YT playback speed to 1.25x for another video I watched before. Oops, user error. 🙃

If you visit Colombia and do not visit Medellin, you literally did not visit Colombia, Medellin is the spitting image of the country's social and tourist transformation.
