@urbanagmike thank you so much! That thing is amazing! We've seen a noticeable reduction in gnats in the air and on our yellow sticky traps that we have throughout the farm. And each month, when we change the glue traps out, there are fewer insects stuck to them.
Looks great Andy! Love the bug catchers. We had terrible results with the Coast of Maine products. I was excited because they were somewhat cheap but we had consistent mold problems across different bags of different products. I highly recommend Dirtcraft Organics out of Marshall, NC. They ship from a pallet to a truckload and I know they won't send free samples because they're a small business but they have the best product at the best price even after shipping. The organization systems and planning for employees is great. And the trash can solution with the magnets is genius through simplicity. 23:34
@ats0930 I'll have to check that one out! So far, the Sprout Island Blend has done well for us in initial trials...but we did find it to be more wet than usual...but that could also be us getting used to how it wants to be watered. :)
@Pineappleexpress222 Thank you! I have a masterclass course on commercial space that can be found here: microgreens.thrivecart.com/microgreens-space-masterclass/ I collaborated with Nate Dodson from MicrogreensFarmer.com to put this course together. If you just need help setting up a room in your house, we can do that, too! :)
Fantastic! Now, all you need is a feeeze-dryer to freeze dry unsold capacity before they go bad and be creative with your cultures and grow without concerns over losing any harvested cultures.
@AndyMussaw And different seasonings mixes like radishes, tatsoi, mizuni for example. And yes, green power of Microgreens mixes having all the nutritional elements: vitamins and minerals and trace minerals. Also microgreen flour. ...
🤣Large Marge is next to Slim Jim 😂❤️ We laughed as we're using same craftsman totes and also hang our paper towels on the racks like that as well. 😂 So the adjustable height on your Harvest table and pust some wheels on them. Def helped us 😁.
Thank you! Total start up, when we started in 2020, was around $500. We had to buy a rack, some trays, some seeds, some soil, and some basic supplies, like packaging, harvesting knives, etc. :)
@grunkmcgrunk8407 thank you! We definitely did a lot of work! It was from September of 2023 until May of 2024. :) As part of the upgrades, we deep cleaned, etched, and sealed the floor. It desperately need it!
@@CAWriterific absolutely! We're using 15lb papers from Lowes/Home Depot. Then we actually wrap ours in duck tape to keep them from getting dust everywhere. :) We also have weights from a weight stack from an old indoor gym.
@paladin3636 Absolutely! It's a combination of a few things. First, it's organic, which we've been trying to move towards for a while. The only other decent option out there was Promix MP for a while, and we didn't care for that soil compared to the Coco Loco. The 2nd factor is harvest weights. For example, if one soil produces 20% more yield per tray, then we plant far less trays with the same amount of soil. Thus, it's less labor overall to accomplish the same end result. When you're working with hundreds of trays per week, that time savings adds up very quickly! So we're always on the lookout for a new soil option. Last is cost. If I can get a comparable soil for less money, and it produces the same (or better results), then my cost per tray has now gone down, as well. I hope that explains it all! :)

Awesome set up
Thank you so much!
So gorgeous. 😭 The glupak machine looks cool, imagine it works well. Congratulations on your beautiful farm!

That's definitely on our long-term list! I'd love to get into selling powders.
