I'm reminded why I watch Asmon more for the reaction videos than the gaming, as a lot of the games he thought looked good I was not interested in and a few of the games he thought were garbage I thought looked interesting. The PC version is never the primary target for AAA games (with some limitied exceptions like Baldurs gate).
Custom Maps and Co-op is how you get people into RTS (and Stormgate). Been playing custom maps for 25+ years, melee is boring trash to play but fun to watch.

I must be getting old because the games in this showcase resulted in more wishlists for me than any other showcase in Summer Game Fest. I see the appeal for the Xbox announcements, but most of it was not things I was interested in. Found way more things in this one that stood out to me as worth giving a shot.
The first studio to embrace AI gaming with clever adaptive game play where the stories and dialog adjust to actual player vocals spoken to the AI will blow all the competition out of the water.

Even as an RTS player, I can’t see myself getting into Stormgate. Age of Empires 2: DE is still popping off. Just had a large tournament just this weekend. 40,000+ viewers.
Third faction for Stormgate honestly could've leaned into the angelic theme more, while the demonic faction could've leaned harder into the Diablo/DOOM aesthetic. Seriously, they should've made humans the only 'tech' faction, while the others should literally have been pure angels and demons instead of "techno pixar versions" of them.

I must be getting old because the games in this showcase resulted in more wishlists for me than any other showcase in Summer Game Fest. I see the appeal for the Xbox announcements, but most of it was not things I was interested in. Found way more things in this one that stood out to me as worth giving a shot.

Always thought strategy games would be addicting for everyone due to the power trip of seeing the progress of what you build. But alas some people just want to shoot/hack stuff mindlessly, I like shooting stuff too especially when I am stressed but no need to shit on strategy games.
I can't get over how bad Stormgate looks graphically. Like, why does the terrain look so flat and bland?? RTS from 20 years ago look infinitely better. Not to mention SC2 itself. I don't get it.

Age of Empires 2: DE is still popping off. Just had a large tournament just this weekend. 40,000+ viewers.
Third faction for Stormgate honestly could've leaned into the angelic theme more, while the demonic faction could've leaned harder into the Diablo/DOOM aesthetic. Seriously, they should've made humans the only 'tech' faction, while the others should literally have been pure angels and demons instead of "techno pixar versions" of them.
