The funniest part about all of this is that if you don’t want to get this strap, it takes zero effort on your part to just not get one & not to watch these videos 😂
@donniedarko86 Indeed, but there are people who aren't happy unless they're whining about something, and sadly you'll rarely see these strange people better represented than in the watch world
I commute 30 km to work by bicycle every day and love my nato straps. I like the fact that it separates the watch from my sweaty wrist. It takes me only a few seconds to wash the strap while my watch stays largely sweat free. I have a 7.5” wrist and the length of natos suits my wrist particularly well without that awkward-looking fold-over. I also appreciate the alternative that the zero pass provides as it allows the functionality of a nylon strap without the bulk that many people dislike. At risk of being termed ‘a hater’, the zero-pass design is hardly new. For example, I bought a velcro ‘astronaut strap’ a number of years ago for my Bulova Lunar Pilot which has a zero-pass application, but with a velcro-type attachment. It is very useful to wear over a garment when it is cold and I am cycling with gloves. Nonetheless, I love the new zero-pass designs, particularly with the leather keeper. 😊
I'm reminded of a comment YoureTerrific made once about people in the community taking watches too seriously when most of them are used for soldier cosplay. Haters are always ridiculous.
It’s really good for the people with Garmin Fenix and Epic who want to wear a nato but also get the Opitcal Heart Rate Data from the back of their watch. People have been cutting holes in their straps for years
Good question. Over the past 15 years, I had one spring bar fail. Fortunately, I noticed it and caught the watch. When I investigated by taking the other spring bar out, I found it had all but completely corroded away… I swim, row, kayak a lot and, despite rinsing my watches after every swim, I guess the saltwater was eating away at it over time. Since then, I change my spring bars every few years, even if they seem ok to the eye. Like changing your car tyres after a few years even if they have sufficient tread remaining, prevention is much better than experiencing a painful experience. P.S. I only use quality spring bars… not the Amazon type made in some eastern country.
Well, I own way more watches than anyone ever should, and have never had one happen to me. Knock on wood. That said: I also do the occasional bit of strap swapping for a colleague. He's had two used watches that had a partially collapsed springbar and a third that was rusted so much it was about to break apart. So while they do happen, I think it's also related to the overall care of your watch. Most of us wouldn't let a springbar get that bad. It's also why I replace every springbar on a used watch as a precautionary measure.
I love that you made your own strap! The World is what you make it. I will check out your straps with the intention of buying some, if they fit with my watch world. Cheers!
Love the concept, love the actual strap, love the wearing experience, I wish more people would give the Zero Pass straps a shot! You might be surprised by how much you like them. (Disclosure: Max is a friend, I own multiple Zero Pass straps I've happily worn on multiple 20mm/22mm watches)

I just received mine and I'm absolutely loving it. First, it's really comfortable to wear. It's actually the most comfortable strap I've ever worn. Second, the fit on my watches are perfect. It keeps the watch in place and the watch doesn't move around even if the strap is not tightly worn. I've been wearing nato straps for years and in order to keep the watch from moving around as you wear it all day, you have to wear it really tight which is quite uncomfortable. If you loosen it a bit to have a more comfortable fit, you end up having to constantly adjust the position of your watch as it keeps moving around as you move your arms through the day. That's absolutely not an issue with this zero pass straps. You don't have to wear it very tight to keep the watch in place. That's why it's so comfortable to wear. And third, it looks so much better as the watch fits perfectly on your wrist since there's no more additional material between your watch and your wrist. I also bought the leather one and it's actually my favorite. The weight of the leather is perfect. Just exactly the right amount of thickness. And the lucky green color looks absolutely beautiful with my Seiko Alpinist. The grey nylon also matches perfectly with my Bulova Lunar Pilot. Shipping to my country was a bit of a hassle but it's definitely all worth it and I'm absolutely happy with my purchase. Thank you for releasing this product to the world. 😊 Looks like I won't be using any of my standard nato straps anymore. And I own a bunch of them, both nylon and leather.
Going to get one for my Seagull 1963, that way I can see the movement. The nato it comes on, hides the movement. Also, FXD would work for that CWC Mellor right? That has fixed spring bars too
I have a watch with fixed bars, and I use velcro straps on it. They fold back on themselves after passing over the bar, so there's no extra height beneath the watch, and there's no extra bulk pushed through keepers on the outer side of the wrist like at 4:44. The only problem is that there are very few colour options and only one material, but at least they're very cheap. I'm sure an enterprising designer could make them better.
I just had to come on here to tell you i bought one of your zero pass straps and it's sooooo much better than my nato strap. And it doesn't dig into my wrist! Thank you man
Bracelets are less likely to lose or break spring bars because the end link is a piece of metal reinforcing the entire length of the spring bar. The amount of force/pressure is significantly higher and needs to be concentrated at the very end of the spring bar connection in order to compromise it……
Great update! Got the V1 at launch, didn't really like the round keepers, so that's a great update, but I found that taking on and off the strap was kind of tricky... Dont know if this is something you guys worked on V2. Anyways, congrats, great to se you are making updates on these, love the idea of the Zero Pass!
Great update on a great idea!! I've always loved the looks of Nato's but could never get the best fit. I've tried Erika's Originals (never got he hang of hooking the darn hook) so off to the strap bin, tried the Nick Mankey designs and could never figure out how to even get it on my CWC watch... new strap into the bin. Will your Zero-Pass for the FXD also work for the CWC Watch w/ fixed lugs? If so I'll give one a try and I can never get the correct strap for that watch for some reason.
An FXD on a zero pass strap seems like something Tudor should have thought of. If the fixed bars break, you’ve got much bigger problems than scratching your watch. I have a watch with fixed bars (Smiths PRS-40) that I wear with an MN style strap cut and rigged to be zero pass and prefer it to the included zulu strap.
Thanks. The round keepers on the V1 drove me crazy on certain watch pairings. Also, I just realized how huge this is for the FXD - all upside with little to no trade off.
With a 8.75 wrist, I wear a few NATO s because of the length vs the cost of custom 2pc straps. Definitely would like to try one of the ribbed types. Congratulations on moving forward to a V2 !
8.75?! Holy moly, you're gonna need a children's belt from BabyGap if you gain any significant amount of weight, my friend! And I thought I had a big wrist at just under 8!
I've been a saturation/commercial diver for 26 years. Until mid 2023 I dived on a weekly basis, and in that time I broke two springbars. Yes - the watch was only worn as a backup to the DC. Yes - shit happens, but you will be fine promise. PS, keep up the great work.
Great idea Max! Wish you much success. Options are never a bad thing. And re the critics (don’t like the term haters), maybe there is something valuable to get from some of them, but otherwise just ignore. As soon as you produce something there will be those not liking it, and instead of just moving on they need to let you know, whatever. 😊

I bought 2 v1's and love them. Can't wear regular NATOs anymore. Glad to hear you are doing bigger sizes, mine fits but would love if it was a bit longer
You show Sean Connery’s famous Rolex at @1:12 as a NATO but it was a single pass strap provided by a member of the production team, and not a NATO strap at all
Buddy, people are not hating. The design doesn't make any sense and most people just voice their opinions about it. You only want people to say good things about this product, you don't actually want criticism. That is the real problem here!

Randomly came across this video and I am in love with the strap. Do you ever think you will come out with this version for 20mm? Something about the gray with leather pass is amazing.
As a self made entrepreneur I commend your efforts and applaud your successes. I think it's a fabulous idea and well thought out. I will have a look at the catalogue and see if there something good for my Hamilton Cooper😊
Looks cook man! And definitely don't hate them even at the time I saw it on the first video, but I prefer traditional natos. I don't mind the thickness. I'm 6 ft tall with a 6.5in wrist and the traditional configuration actually make my wrist looks thicker so I like that. Well, good luck with your product, this style will definitely add variety to the already established configurations and make this hobby more fun and interesting.
I’ve been looking for a nato that doesn’t chunk out the watch on my wrist. I was trying to follow your is friction on another video where you move the spring bar. Didn’t get it…was that because it an original nato or one of yours????….?? I will have a stab at a free one! Thx. Love your videos.
Not a hater. I'd go for a single pass strap for a watch with a not perfectly flat case back. It's why i like regular nato, it puts a layer of cloth against the saphire glass which can get uncomfortable.
I really like this design. I wanted to buy some so I checked the designs on your website. I found some that I really liked and was ready to checkout but found out that you don't ship to the Philippines. Hope shipping to my country become available soon.
@watchcrunch I just pulled the trigger on the purchase. I used the MyUS service to forward the shipment to my country. Looking forward to receiving your product.
I feel like I'm totally in the minority here. I want to like nato straps, but just can't get over that extra bulk sticking out on the 12:00 side. Any help for me?
Please educate me if I'm wrong, but isn't the whole point of a NATO strap (single, or double pass) to enable the security of a watch? If a spring bar fails on one end when wearing a NATO, that watch won't fall of your wrist, as the other side is still secure. If I understand your design correctly, the Zero-Pass gives up that security in exchange for the comfort and 'look' of a NATO, right?
With this you bypass the Natos single most important property: lose one sprinbar and your watch doesn’t slide off your wrist. I see it as a feature that the watch stands proud on the wrist and I say so with the 15 cm I have to offer. I have my own single pass way that works very well on small wrists and adds stability. It is very simple too. Just first thread the keeper at the end of the short strap part and pull it at an even distance to the other keepers. The small strap should now fold on itself. Now make a sharp crease at the desired position and thenthread the watch so that the creased bend in the small strap gets locked in between the lugs and doesn't slide out. If you now put the watchn on the wrist, this folded extra double layer of strap functions to support the watch on the back of the wrist, while fully out of the way.
The NATO strap design has nothing to do with failing springbars. The watches that NATO straps were designed for never had springbars, they had solid soldered in place bars.
@@wayneholmes637 that can very well be true, but for modern watches the security of passing through both springbars is certainly the biggest benefit a NATO has to offer. That and the variety in colours modern NATOs offer. I am currently wearing a stark yellow Nato on a deep blue watch. I don't believe vibrant colours like these are very original either.
I really like NATO straps, but my main gripe has always been the excess length that needs to be tucked into the keeper. That said, I do enjoy explaining to people unfamiliar with NATOs that the excess strap originally served a purpose - for wearing the watch over a jacket/whatever - and being able to educate them of its extra safety feature is another bonus; If a spring bar fails, the watch stays on your wrist. Double the education. Oddly enough, the layers of strap between the watch and my wrist never bother me. I often wear an NDC elastic strap with two layers, and on the occasion when the top layer (fixed to the watch-head) slips and reveals the lower strap (wrapped around my wrist), I actually like the look of the double layer. Like the neck a T-shirt showing under a jumper, or back in the day - wearing a long sleeve jumper underneath a t-shirt! As for the zero-pass NATO design, I think it's brilliant, especially for those who don’t want the bulk under the watch. However, for me, the main downside is the same as with standard NATOs - the excess strap length and what you do with it. Overall, though, it’s a very cool concept! It definitely has a place in the market IMO
Nonsense. The watches that NATOs were designed for never even had springbars. That "it's in case a springbar fails" is just something somebody made up who knew nothing about it.
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
How generous of you to offer the free V1 strap to fence sitters, and a few Nick Mankey among them. As for the haters - if you are an innovator, and create something that people either love or hate passionately, you must be doing something right.
Being an entrepreneur in a new product segment is always going to be challenging. Ignore the naysayers and keep moving forward. It is the old adage: “the man with a new idea is insane until the idea succeeds!”
Hey, Max! Where’s the fixed bar love for 20mm lug width watches? I can totally see the purpose of your straps for fixed bar watches. The only purpose a NATO strap has on a fixed bar watch is keeping the watch back from contacting your skin, preventing grime build-up! 😂 I’d love to see an all-leather version and PVD hardware offerings.
while I wanted to like the zero pass strap I bought, I couldn't really use it because it started restricting my wrist movement. I wish there were versions that were suitable for 8 - 9 in wrists, but they're a pretty good design and actually really cool.
Since you've already made a band, you interested in another? I've got an idea using the same ratchet system used in belts. The potential is there for a no holes band with 3xs the size options compared to normal.
I bought a V1 at launch. It's a really nice strap, but I'm one of those people with an 8" wrist. It was about one hole too small. I didn't send it back though. Gave it to a friend instead. Guess I should try out the V2.
I like the idea, but I'm one of those Neanderthals with just over an 8" wrist. I generally buy fabric NATO's and make two piece straps using a leather tab folded and glued/stitched or riveted at the springbar end. I will look into trying a Zero pass though.
I've been wanting something like this ever since I came across NATO straps! Good to see someone bringing it to reality! Gonna have to go check it out... looks great 😎
Max, the issue I have is that the 22mm and 20mm are not the actually size (they are 21mm & 19mm). That might be a smart strat from your end but its a bust for customers. Just wanted to let you know how I feel about that. Ps: I do own 4 zero pass
I'm not a fan of NATOs, but those leather ones look awesome. I'm really happy the price came down on those; now I can try one without buyers remorse. Edit: The leather burgundy in 20mm is sold out. Damn.
I think it is an awesome product! I was tempted on numerous occasions to order, but the shipping and tax on top to the uk is just too much. It’s worth the £30 ish for sure but not £50 for a nato equivalent.
I feel like the most obvious customer for this type of strap is someone wearing an Apple Watch, but also likes the look of the NATO. Maybe you should consider selling a variant with the lugs that can be fit into an Apple Watch
The reason for a double pass on a NATO strap is that the wearer of the watch won't lose it if one of the spring bars will break because the watch would still be attached to the wrist by the remaining spring bar which makes a perfect sense for one who had to crawl through muddy trenches. For the casual wear having an extra secure double pass NATO strap may be a bit over the top, but if one still loves the rugged canvas look there is plenty of simple two-piece canvas straps so... I'm not hating on your idea, I I'm just having a hard time answering that pesky "what for?" question, you know?
With 2 piece canvas straps, you still need a spring bar tool to swap them. The nylon style straps can be swapped tool-free, but add a lot of thickness. The Single Pass style keeps the easy-swap feature, but reduces bulkiness. Sometimes I switch nylon straps on a whim as I'm getting dressed in the morning. It's much like choosing a different necktie or socks.
If you look at how the NATO strap interacts with the spring bars, you don't actually need double pass to retain the watch head when one spring bar is lost. The watch head will still flop around on the remaining spring bar, even on the single pass. What the double pass is meant for is to retain the watch head's position, within a few centimeters of the original position. Because there's a keeper anchored to the end of the inner strap that is fixed to the outer strap, if a spring bar is lost the watch will at most slide 4 to 5 centimeters to the 12 o'clock keeper or the other way to the 6 o'clock keeper. So the difference between the double pass and single pass NATO straps is that one will slide around more to the 6 o'clock compared to the other. But retention of the watch head itself isn't it. Just correcting a common misconception. Now this is the part where I support your argument around the "what for?". The NATO strap, whether single pass or double pass, is designed for watch head retention. What the "zero pass" does is remove the point of retention, and makes it no different to nylon two-piece straps with quick release spring bars. In fact, I would rather they just made that (as you suggested): high quality nylon, two-piece straps WITH quick release spring bars in over 50 colorways. The sheer variety in designs is what's under-served in the market. There's a lot of added material and complexity here to solve something leather / rubber / silicon / Milanese mesh straps have solved years ago.
Just don’t understand the need. Choosing a Zulu or nylon 2 piece covers everything and you don’t have to do wrist gymnastics to put them on. 🤔 As long as people are respectful, there’s no reason for using “haters”.
Cool, can I trade out mine for the v2, since it’s far too short and has been sitting doing absolutely nothing for the last year? (I bought right after you launched and requested a return, and was denied). Would be super awesome if y’all could connect with me and make this right. Sucks to have bought a product and not be able to use it.
I've had a zero pass since they came out, put one on my 5513 and one on my Speedmaster and I haven't taken them off since.
Game Over! Watch Jesus has Spoken 🙏😇

Single pass is CLEAN. Never cared for the overkill/harware on the regular natos.
Even a single pass nato is more secure, without the extra hardware….

Max, always a fan of this. Thanks for sharing the journey.
Thanks Paul 🙏
Congratulations on your product. Now let's see some of your cars.
Woooowoooooo!!!! Great to connect with the strip and reignite my love of natos
“The other day I went for a run and pulled an ass muscle “….LOL….still laughing.
That’s a great idea. Love the FXD solution creative idea 😊❤
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
Love the idea. In the summer months a nato gives me a rash on the wrist. Just wish you had more colors like fde or coyote.
Which watch is shown @2:57 ? I’ve been looking for one with the similar case design.
I’d love to see an all-leather version and PVD hardware offerings.
Add a decorative chain connecting 1 keeper to the other, and it should solve the problem when there is 1 spring bar failure.
Great product, just bought 2 of them. Can’t wait to get them!
while I wanted to like the zero pass strap I bought, I couldn't really use it because it started restricting my wrist movement.
I wonder how a brown leather nato would look on seiko alpinist in green 🤔
WTF I had no idea you were a doctor... that's super impressive!
I bought a V1 at launch. It's a really nice strap, but I'm one of those people with an 8" wrist. It was about one hole too small. I didn't send it back though. Gave it to a friend instead. Guess I should try out the V2.
I put mine on my speedmaster and it looks stupendous! Slightly arduous to initially get on my wrist, but super secure and fashionable once on.
Where can I buy this strap?
Thank you for making high quality videos!Love MAMACOO ’s watches
I purchased the Anthracite Italian leather strap for my Seiko SRPD55. I'm excited! lol
I like the idea, but I'm one of those Neanderthals with just over an 8" wrist. I generally buy fabric NATO's and make two piece straps using a leather tab folded and glued/stitched or riveted at the springbar end. I will look into trying a Zero pass though.
Informative video- I have a larger wrist and this convinced me to pull the trigger. Thanks Captain Crunch!
Let's go!
I wish it was easier to get it here in Cape Town,SA. Love your content and take on things
Yes, the first order to Cape Town vanished 😔
I still don’t like the excess material on the end that you need to tuck in. The bulge of the medial side of the wrist looks unsightly, asymmetric.
feedback: try making that 'zero pass' buckle from a material that's prone to water damage unlike leather
Any plans to do a 21mm version as i have the Monochrome :)
I've been wanting something like this ever since I came across NATO straps! Good to see someone bringing it to reality! Gonna have to go check it out... looks great 😎
What watch is at 3:05?
Is this any different than a single pass nylon strap? I'm confused
@@IDKline but couldn't you do the same with any other single pass strap since you loop it around your wrist before going through the next lug?
Max, the issue I have is that the 22mm and 20mm are not the actually size (they are 21mm & 19mm). That might be a smart strat from your end but its a bust for customers. Just wanted to let you know how I feel about that.
Ps: I do own 4 zero pass
Love this video and your content! Can’t wait to try this strap out
I'm not a fan of NATOs, but those leather ones look awesome. I'm really happy the price came down on those; now I can try one without buyers remorse. Edit: The leather burgundy in 20mm is sold out. Damn.
So sorry you are getting hate. Congrats on bringing your vision to life.
I think it is an awesome product! I was tempted on numerous occasions to order, but the shipping and tax on top to the uk is just too much. It’s worth the £30 ish for sure but not £50 for a nato equivalent.
Congratulations Max, never stop innovating!
This is excellent and I appreciate this strap!
Wtf. With some modifications it made my FXD wearable. Best strap ever
These look awesome man. Great job.
is there a chance for 21mm in the future?
where can i order?
Thank for the opportunity to try one out Captain Crunch! Message sent.
It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of MAMACOO's watch 99% of people will never see.
I feel like the most obvious customer for this type of strap is someone wearing an Apple Watch, but also likes the look of the NATO. Maybe you should consider selling a variant with the lugs that can be fit into an Apple Watch
apple already make straps like this, I mean the alpine loop is close
At 01:07… a blacked FXD???
US mil only
@@gjuttla704 thanks for the answer. Looks Great !!!
Where are they shipped from?
US
The reason for a double pass on a NATO strap is that the wearer of the watch won't lose it if one of the spring bars will break because the watch would still be attached to the wrist by the remaining spring bar which makes a perfect sense for one who had to crawl through muddy trenches.
I understand that the only valid reasoning would be of a sartorial nature. 🙂
I bought one just because I loved the look vs nato or 2-piece + there is no strap under the watch to add thickness.
Message sent, I was looking at the red and gold V1, but was going to wait until you made it in V2. PS I would love a leather FXD option
I too enjoy a few nylon straps but not the NATO. It is great to see your innovations.
Appreciate it!
