No, it's a standard SH size length of 85cm. It gets cut down from 90cm.

Glue under the grip?

Yes, we add a few lines of PVA (wood glue) under the grip to create friction, stopping the grip from moving. However, the grip can still be easily removed and replaced as we only use PVA. If we used super glue, the grip would become a permanent fixture.
